Ni Kuang [real name Nee Yick Ming Ù¥ç©ú] 1935-

Ni Kuang is one of Hong Kong's most prolific and popular writers. Born in Shanghai, Ni Kuang smuggled himself into Hong Kong in 1957, after he had become thoroughly disillusioned with the Chinese Communist Party which he joined as an idealistic teenager. He has remained staunchly anti-Communist though his writing is mostly non-political. Among his best-known works are the science fiction series featuring Wei Sili ½Ã´µ²z and his martial arts fiction. During the boom in martial arts films in the 1960s Ni Kuang wrote over 400 screenplays, three-quarters of which were filmed. He emigrated to the US in 1992 but continues to participate in TV talk shows in Hong Kong.
