Peng Hua 1432-1496

In the 1454 civil service examination, Peng Hua's name was at the head of the list of jinshi. In his long official career he was closely associated with powerful but corrupt officials Wan An (?-1488) and Li Zisheng (?-1487) and was said to have persecuted other officials with dissenting views. Peng rose to the position of Vice Minister of Rites, and was a member of the Council of State. He died suddenly in 1496. His work is collected in Peng Wensi ji [Collected Writings of Peng Hua].
