Rong Yu fl. 766

Unsuccessful in passing the jinshi exam, Rong Yu served as prefect of Chenzhou in present-day Hunan and Qianzhou in present-day Jiangxi province. His poetry describes the hardships of the common people, containing hints of protest against corruption at court. Though his poetry collection is lost, many of his poems are included in the 'Yiwen zhi' of the Xin Tang shu [A New History of the Tang Dynasty] and in the Quan Tang shi.
