Shi Chenglin 1659-?

Qing-dynasty writer. Born in Yangzhou in present-day Jiangsu province, Shi was the son of Shi Wei who probably served as a minor official. Shi Chengjin himself became a respected teacher as well as an influential writer of more than 90 works, although little of this has survive. A devout Buddhist, he demonstrated the workings of karma in his fiction, and wrote annotations to several Buddhist scriptures.
