Tao Jie [real name Chip Tsao 曹捷] 1958-

Born in Hong Kong, Tao received his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Warwick. He worked at the BBC for eight years before joining the local print media, serving successively as deputy editor-in-chief of Wah Kiu Yat Po 華僑日報, Ming Pao 明報 and Eastern Express. His career as a columnist spans a large number of local newspapers and magazines, and often reveals a mistrust of the PRC government. His essay collections include Taiwushi hepan 泰晤士河畔 [On the banks of the Thames] (1994), winner of the 1994 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Essay), and Huangjin maoxian hao 黃金冒險號 [The Golden Venture] (1995).
