Wang Yun 1749-1819

A native of Chang'an, Wang Yun was a woman poet and dramatist of the Qing dynasty. Talented and ambitious, she expresses in her works the frustration of educated women who were denied the chance of career fulfilment. Wang Yun wrote three plays Fanhua meng [A dream of glory], Quan fu ji [Full happiness] and You xian meng [A dream visit to the immortals]. huaiqing Tang ji [Huaiqing Tang collection] contains over 200 of her poems, and Xiyuan banxiang ji [Fragrant petals of the Western Garden] contains poems by Wang, her father and her son.
