Xie Zhaozhe 1567-1624

Ming-dynasty writer. Xie Zhaozhe came from the town of Changle on the coast of Fujian province. After gaining the jinshi degree in 1592, he was appointed to official posts in Zhejiang and Shandong. During this period, he began the practice that he would follow throughout his life of writing books describing the customs and geography of the area in which he was serving.
