Yu Kwang-chung (Yu Guangzhong) 1928-

Born in Nanjing. Yu fled the Communist advance in 1949, moving to Taiwan with his family via Hong Kong. Yu began his academic career in 1956, teaching in Taiwan and the US. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1974 where for more than a decade his influence on young local poets was very strong. His many publications include the poetry collection Lian de lianxiang 蓮的聯想 [Associations of the water lilies] (1964) and the essay collection Jiyi xiang tiegui yiyang chang 記憶像鐵軌一樣長 [Memories as long as the railway tracks] (1987). He is now Emeritus Professor at the National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung.
