Zheng Tian 825-883

A native of Yingyang (in present-day Henan), Zheng Tian gained the jinshi degree at a young age in 842. He was Military Commissioner at Fengxiang when the rebel Huang Chao (d. 884) seized the capital of Chang'an in 880. Zheng contributed to the suppression of the uprising, but fell ill in 882 and resigned from office. He died soon after. His work is collected in Yutang ji [Jade hall collection] and Fengchi gaoca [Draft writings by the grand councillor].
