Zhigang (late Qing dynasty)

Little is known about Zhigang except that he originally belonged to the Ministry of Rites, then became a Secretary in the Zongli Yamen. As a Manchu, he accompanied the retiring American ambassador Anson Burlingame for a tour of the USA and several European countries in 1868. Upon Burlingame's death he took over the negotiations with Russia. After his return to China, he was posted to Mongolia.
