Zhong Lingling (Chung Ling Ling) 1948-

Born in Hunan, Zhong was educated in Hong Kong. She started writing in the late 1960s and published essays as well as serialized novels in newspapers. After a decade as editor of the literary magazine Damuzhi 大拇指 [Thumb] and at Su Yeh Publications, Chung became a professional writer. In 1991, her essay collection Jiezhou de ren 解咒的人 [The curse-breaker] (1989) gained her the Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Essay).
