Current Group Members

Qiuli Qi

Xiao Qi comes from Shandong - an area which is full of history and scenic places. She obtained her BEng degree from Zhejiang University in Jul 2013. She studied Polymer Materials and Engineering at the Department of Polymer Science & Engineering. She is a recipient of the HK PhD Fellowship - one of the top student scholarships offered in HK. Her research work is focused on supramolecular chemistry of click oligomers and polymers. She enjoyed Kunqu (崑曲) opera.

Eric Ho-Wang Ip

Eric graduated from the Department of Chemistry, CUHK and joined the group as a PhD student in Aug 2013. His research work is focused on the synthesis and self assembly properties of tribenzotriquinance derivatives using hydrogen bonding interactions. He also studied Japanese as a minor subject, and people in the group all start learning Japanese. He just published a seminal paper on a three-fold Scholl type cycloheptatriene ring formation reaction.

Leo Wai-Shing Wong

Leo obtained his BSc from CUHK in Jul 2012. His PhD research work is focused on supramolecular chemistry of fenestrane chemistry - a project in collaboration with Prof. Dietmar Kuck in Germany. He is a vegetarian, ask him for some expert advice on how to choose good vegetarian food and restaurants.

Kung Zheng

Xiao Zheng joined our group as a PhD student in Aug 2014. Coming from the same department (Department of Polymer Science & Engineering, Zhijiang University) as Qiuli Qi, she is a native from northern part of China - Heilongjiang Province. Her research work is focused on the molecular self-sorting of oligomers.

Huaizhen Wang

Xiao Wang joined our group as a PhD student in Aug 2014. He obtained an M.Phil. degree from Lanzhou University with Prof. W. Wang. He is a native from the Anhui Province. His research work is focused on the design and synthesis of stimuli-responsive polymer gels.

Wing-Wah Lau

Wing-Wah joined our group as a PhD student in Aug 2015. He obtained his B.Sc. degree from our University. His research work is focused on the design and synthesis of fenestrane-based cage compounds.

Yvette Cheung

Yvette joined our group as a PhD student in Aug 2016. She obtained her B.Sc. degree from this University. Her research work is focused on the synthesis of warped nanographenes beased on a tribenzotriquinacene core.

Dr. Lisi He

Xiao He comes from Guangdong Province and obtained a PhD degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with Prof. Jason Ho in 2014. After her first postdoctoral work with Prof. Gavin Tsui, she joined the group and worked on the supramolecular chemistry of tribenzotriquinacene molecules.

Ho-Wing Tse

Ho-Wing joined as a MPhil student in Aug 2016, after working in our group in the last year as an undergraduate student. He obtained his B.Sc. degree from this University. His research work is focused on the synthesis of chiral fenestrane derivatives.

Xiaoqing Sun

Xiao Sun joined as a PhD student in Aug 2016 after graduation from Lanzhou University. His research work is on the synthesis of nonplanar polyaromatic compounds based on a fenestrane core.

Gary Hung

Gary joined as a PhD student in Aug 2017 after graduation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research work is on the synthesis of nonplanar graphene based on a tribenzotriquinacene core.
