Projects

1. "Hong Kong - Shenzhen Cultural Relations and Interactions", a collaborative project with the Centre for Cultural Research in the Special Economic Zones, Shenzhen City Government.

This project began in 2000, collaborated with the Centre for the Research of Cultural Development of the Special Economic Zones, City Government of Shenzhen. The Shenzhen Centre has been very active in organizing seminars and in publishing journals and books on Shenzhen culture. In Hong Kong, the Centre had jointly organized with the History Department an international conference on Culture and Environment during which several papers on Hong Kong - Shenzhen cultural interaction were presented.

2. "A Tale of Two Cities: Shanghai and Hong Kong", a project with Fudan University under the auspice of Hong Kong - Fudan Joint Institute for Research and Development.

Main themes of the project are cultural relation, interaction and development. It is divided into four phases:

i. Historical Relations Between the Two Cities
ii. Cultural Migration and Interaction Between the Two Cities
iii. Urban Space and Cultural Characteristics: Contrast and Comparison
iv. Globalism and Localism: Development of Culture
