Introduction:
Research activities in Phenomenology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong have been flourishing during the last decade. This is witnessed by the organization of more than 10 regional and international conferences, and the publication of academic journals and conference proceedings. To further enhance the dynamics of promoting the study of phenomenology in Asia Pacific, starting from this year, the Research Centre for Phenomenology and the Human Sciences will organize the Academia Phaenomenologica Asiatica, a three-week master summer class in phenomenology for junior faculties, post-doctoral fellows, and advance post-graduate students (e.g. PhD candidates) from Mainland China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong.

The inaugural lecture course will be held in 17 July 2007 - 2 August 2007 on the theme of Reason in Husserl and Heidegger. Two internationally renowned scholars in phenomenology, Prof. Thomas Nenon (University of Memphis, USA), and Prof. Steven Crowell (Rice University, USA), will give four 3-hour lectures in two weeks. The lectures will be followed by a symposium on the topics discussed in the lectures. Each participant is expected to give a presentation.
