    The research interests are mainly in the field of developmental and cell biology, toxicology, and pharmacological studies of Chinese medicines and natural products derived from herbs, mushrooms and seaweeds. The research projects have been directed towards studies on:
  1. Antiviral, anticancer, and immunomodulatory properties of bioactive proteins, polysaccharides and other natural products
  2. Hypotensive, liver protective, and free radical scavenging activities of herbs, mushrooms and seaweeds
  3. Isolation, characterization, molecular cloning and expression of plant proteins of bio-pharmacological or agricultural importance
  4. Experimental and developmental investigations on the vertebrate kidney, liver and reproductive organs
