1. College Exchange Programmes
The College's policy on student exchange programmes is formulated by the
Student Development Programmes Committee. Every year, the College selects
over 100 students to join the following exchange programmes:
College Exchange Programmes
The College started to establish student exchange programmes with overseas
tertiary institutions in 1990. At present, the College has developed exchange
programmes with the School of Management of Renesselaer
Polytechnic Institute in New York, USA, the School of Business of University
of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, the
University of Illinios at Urban-Champaign, USA and the
Ritsumeikan Asia-Pacific University in Japan.
International Student Exchange Programme (ISEP)
Every year, the College selects at least two students to join the International
Student Exchange Programme to study abroad for one year or one semester.
Other Exchange Programems
Students may apply to join exchange programmes offered by their departments
or faculties. Currently, the Department of Japanese Studies, English, Architecture,
School of Journalism and Communication and the Faculty of Business Administration
are running such exchange programmes for Shaw College students.
In return, the College hosts over 100 overseas students on average to study
for one semester or one academic year at the university through the above-mentioned
and other university programmes every year.
2. Student Development Programmes
Aimed at widening students’ horizons, there are two programmes organized.
They are Global Vision Award Programme and China Internship Award Programme.
The former is a short-term cultural exchange programme. Students from the
college and partner university pay visit to each other. Through activities
of various types, they facilitate cultural exchange between the
two groups of students. Under the China Internship Award Programme, students
from the college and Hangzhou are arranged to have Internship at large
enterprises in Mainland, and have visit at outstanding organizations in
Hong Kong.
3. Language Enhancement
Programmes
The College Language Enhancement Programme has been started since 1995
in order to enhance the language proficiency among the students. A series
of non-formal language related activities, which include Language Workshop
and Overseas Language Study Tours have been organized in term-time and
summer holiday.
