Sunlight on Wenlan Tang

Chan’s eloquent art,
harmonies, and tones
make form from colours.
Buildings on the slope
all nest like cliff birds,
nest below nest,
on rock, descending
where College business,
offices, classes,
occupy the days;
buildings now well-known
and so— unnoticed.
Chan’s vision takes in
Palms and distant sea,
cloud-encrusted sky.
And we, impending
night surrounding us,
observe in silence
and the more we look,
the more’s implied.
