International Conference on Childhood Obesity: Evidence and Practice from Exercise Science (ICCO2008)
On behalf of the Organising Committee and the Scientific Committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the ¡§International Conference on Childhood Obesity: Evidence and Practice from Exercise Science¡¨ (ICCO2008). The Conference will be held at the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, Faculty of Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR from 13th to 16th November, 2008.
Hong Kong, a busy metropolitan business centre, has been labelled as the meeting point of East and West. The ICCO2008 is the first ever conference in Hong Kong that focuses on the latest knowledge, development and advances in prevention and intervention of childhood obesity, with an ultimate aim of reducing the incidence of childhood and youth obesity through increased sport and physical activity participation, reduced sedentary behaviours, and sound nutrition. The meeting is relevant to delegates from a wide range of disciplines such as sports, physical education, nutrition, physiotherapy, psychology, public health, medicine, nursing, social work, fitness and health.

The scientific programme will cover various childhood obesity epidemiology, prevention and management issues, and related research with the emphasis on the role of exercise science. This includes symposia, free-paper presentations in oral or poster formats. Awards will be given to the best presentations in selected themes. An extensive exhibition and a series of pre- and post-conference workshops will be held for our honoured delegates to experience some skills that can help to curb childhood obesity in various settings.
