3. Master of Arts (M.A. in Christian Studies)
Degree Programmes of CUHK

In addition to the general qualifications required for admission to the Graduate School, applicants should have a recognized Bachelor’s degree; degree holders in subjects other than Theology and Religious Studies are welcomed. Applicants should present letters of recommendation from a church-related person and from an undergraduate teacher. (Please refer to the “Postgraduate Prospectus” and Graduate School Homepage at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/gss for details.)

The degree should be completed within the normal period of study: one year to two years for full-time students and not less than two years but not more than four years for part-time students. Students must take at least one course per term throughout the normative study period. Part-time students should not take more than 3 courses in each term and not more than 5 courses in each academic year.

Coursework Requirement
Students are required to complete a minimum of 24 units (a minimum of 8 courses) for graduation.

Any seven courses chosen from at least three different Areas of Study prescribed in the course list or courses offered by the Divinity School approved by the Head of Graduate Division or Director of Divinity School of Chung Chi College.

Graduation Requirements:

 

  1. Students must take at least one course per term throughout the normative study period (stipulated in the ‘General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies’).
  2. Fulfill the IT Competence Requirement (Please refer to “Student IT Competence”.)
  3. Graduate students are expected to write at least one extensive research paper with no less than 10,000 words (either in English or in Chinese) for one of the courses. For students who want to declare concentration on “Biblical Studies” or “Theological Studies” or “Christianity and Society” or “Pastoral Studies and Counseling” or “Christianity in China” or “Christian Education” or “Workplace Theology”, their papers should respectively be related to that concentration.
  4. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
