榮休講座教授任命

大學校董會執行委員會代表大學校董會通過頒授生物化學榮休講座教授銜與李卓予教授，由二零零五年四月二十日生效，以表掦他的學術成就和對大學的貢獻。李教授於一九七二年加入香港中文大學，並於一九八八年至一九九八年期間擔任聯合書院院長，貢獻良多。

另大學校董會執行委員會代表大學校董會通過頒授外科榮休講座教授銜與李國章教授，由二零零五年八月一日生效，以表掦他的學術成就和對大學的貢獻。李教授於一九八二年加入香港中文大學，並於八三至九八年擔任書院院務委員、八八至九八年擔任書院校董、九零至九八年擔任基金會委員。

Appointment of Emeritus Professors

The Executive Committee of the University Council has, on behalf of the Council, approved the Senate’s recommendation to award the title of Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry to Professor Lee Cheuk Yu with effect from 20 April 2005 in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and service to the University. Professor Lee joined the Chinese University in 1972. He was the Head of United College for 10 years between 1988 to 1998.

The Executive Committee of the University Council has, on behalf of the Council, approved the Senate’s recommendation to award the title of Emeritus Professor of Surgery to Professor Arthur K C Li with effect from 1 August 2005 in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and service to the University. Professor Li joined the Chinese University in 1982. He was members of Assembly of Fellow (1983-98), Board of Trustees (1988-98) and Endowment Fund Committee (1990-98).

聯合學生榮獲二零零五年度香港羅德獎學金

本院學生陳曉彤同學榮獲二零零五年度香港羅德獎學金。主修工商管理、副修社會學的陳同學，自小醉心繪畫藝術，曾赴多國交流，憑着兼備藝術細胞及國際視野，成功擊敗三十多名對手，獲選為本屆羅德學人，將獲約六十萬元奬學金遠赴英國牛津大學修讀社會人類學哲學碩士課程，研究佛學藝術，期望學成歸來回饋社會。

羅德奬學金在學術界具有崇高榮譽，遴選過程嚴謹，自一九八五年起每年頒予一名香港學生，供得奬人前往牛津大學升學。

本院同仁謹向陳同學致以衷心祝賀！

UC student wins the Hong Kong Rhodes Scholarship 2005

Ms Chan Hiu Tung Evelyn, a Business Administration student of United College, has won the 2005 Hong Kong Rhodes Scholarship. Evelyn has developed a great interest in art since a very young age. Her rich background in academic exchange and art has made her the Rhodes Scholar select from over 30 keen competitors. Evelyn will study Buddhist Arts and Social Anthropology at Oxford University.

The Rhodes scholarship is one of the oldest and most prestigious international fellowships. From 1985, only one Rhodes Scholar will be elected from Hong Kong every year to study in Oxford University.

本院兩位聯合教職員數學系魏軍城教授及內科及藥物治療學系余卓文教授獲頒二零零四年大學青年學者研究成就獎。

《聯合校刊》乃書院每年出版一次之重要刊物。《聯合校刊》除記載書院名錄、學生生活及當年大事外，亦刊登員生著作，以豐富內容及提高趣味性。二零零四至二零零五年度 (第六十一期)《聯合校刊》編輯委員會現向各教職員、同學及校友徵稿，來稿可以中文或英文撰寫，題材及類別不限，字數約二千至二千五百字為合。

Calling for Articles for the 61^st United Bulletin

The United Bulletin is an annual publication of the College. Apart from being an official chronicle of College personale, student and staff activities and major College events, it also includes outstanding literary and academic work of staff and students of the College. The College Publication Committee is now inviting articles for the 61^stissue of the United Bulletin (2004-2005) from members of the College. Articles should be about 2000 - 2500 words in length and can be either in

English or Chinese. There is no restriction on the format and style of the article.

Please forward your article to Ms Amy Luk, Secretary of the College Publications Committee on or before 10 September 2005. For further information feel free to contact Ms Amy Luk on 2609-8654.
