全人發展獎勵計劃

為促進同學在德、智、體、群、美五育的均衡發展,書院於2005/2006年度推出嶄新的「全人發展獎勵計劃」。計劃將書院內舉辦的各項非形式教育活動歸類於五個範疇,即德、智、體、群、美。參加同學必須在一個學年內,在每一範疇內參與活動或學習而至少取得1分,及總分在15分以上者,均可獲得書券及證書獎勵。同時書院亦會頒發一張非形式教育活動紀錄表予所有參加者。計劃首年將設名額100個,在2005年9月12日至22日於網上讓同學登記,先到先得。有關計劃內容及報名詳情,可瀏覽計劃網址 www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson ,查詢請電2609-7455或2609-7598。

 

Whole Person Development Award Program

The College will introduce in 2005/2006 a "Whole Person Development Award Program"with the aim to  encourage students to actively and systematically pursue whole person development in academic as well as extracurricular activities.  Participants are encouraged to take part in activities grouped under the five core areas, namely, Ethical, Intellectual, Physical, Social and Aesthetic. Participants are required to score at least 1 point in each of the five areas and a total of at least 15 points in a year in order to be eligible for an award. Each participant will also be given a transcript listing the programs and activities they have undertaken in the year. There will be 100 places for interested students to register between 12 and 22 September 2005 on a first-come-first-served basis. 學生宿舍消息

本年度獲選宿生請於九月三日(星期六)下午一時至六時,攜同學生證及近照二幀,到有關宿舍辦理入宿手續。未能如期入宿者,必須於最少兩個工作天前以書面向舍監申請延期入宿,否則將作放棄宿位論。詳情請參閱有關通告或親臨輔導處查詢。

HOSTEL NEWS

Hostel residents for the academic year 2005/2006 are advised to check in at their respective hostels between 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, 3 September 2005.  Residents should bring their student identity cards and two recent photos for registration.  Residents unable to check in at the scheduled time should apply in writing to the respective wardens for late check-in at least two working days in advance.  Failure to do so may mean cancellation of the hostel places allocated.  For further information, please refer to the College notice boards or contact the Dean of Students’ Office.

二零零五至二零零六年度聯合書院學長計劃

2005/2006年度聯合書院學長計劃的配對工作業已完成。學長計劃統籌委員會將於九月分別為學長及學員舉辦簡佈會,使參加者對計劃的目的及內容有進一步了解。此外,統籌委員會訂於九月二十九日假九龍富豪酒店舉行迎新晚宴。各項活動詳情見附表。

UNITED COLLEGE MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME 2005/2006

The process of matching mentors and mentees for 2005/2006 has been concluded. The Programme Coordinating Committee will          organize briefing sessions in September to give mentors and mentees a better understanding of the objectives and activities of the Programme. 澳洲昆士蘭大學交流學習計劃—「面對全球化: 澳洲的經驗與香港的挑戰」

十一名聯合書院同學於本年六月前往澳洲昆士蘭大學,參加一項為期三星期以「面對全球化:澳洲經驗與香港的挑戰」為題的交流學習計劃。同學們透過不同形式的活動,包括講座、研討會、訪問、參觀等,對「全球化」所引發的問題作深入全面的探討。參加同學亦獲安排於當地家庭住宿,從而對澳洲人的日常生活、社會文化和風土人情,有更透切的了解。

是項交流學習計劃由昆士蘭大學社會科學學院葉富強教授精心策劃及主持。葉教授是聯合書院一九六九年社會系校友。

 

"Confronting Globalization: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong" — Study Tour at the University of Queensland

 In June 2005, 11 United College students participated in a three week programme at the University of Queensland, Australia on the topic of "Confronting Globalization: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong". Participants attended lectures, seminars, interviews and excursions focusing on globalization issues. They were also arranged to stay with local host families in order to appreciate first hand the social and cultural lives of the Australian people.

The study programme was conducted by Dr David Ip, Associate Professor, School of Social Science, The University of Queensland. Dr Ip was a 1969 sociology graduate of United College.

 

語文改善計劃消息

 

1.  暑期語文及文化交流計劃


本院二十五位同學分別於七月三日及七月二十四日前英國參加由愛丁堡大學舉辦之暑期語文及文化交流計劃。同學當地家庭接待,並參加由愛丁堡大學安排的英語課程和參觀當的歷史及文化景點。同學透過計劃除可以改善英語水平,亦加深對英國文化的了解。

另本院十位同學於八月十五日前赴中國北京清華大學,參加為期兩星期之語文及文化交流計劃。同學除參加由北京清華大學安排的普通話課程,更以「一對二」北京清華大學本科生指導學習普通話,及加深對北京獨特文化了解。

2.  語文改善計劃二零零五年秋季課程

書院語文改善計劃秋季課程將由二零零五年九月五日起至十七日間接受同學報名。為照顧不同同學的需要,書院由本年度起將試日間普通話課程,供走讀生優先報讀。章程及報名表格可到書院輔導處索取。如有查詢,請與書院輔導處陸敏兒小姐或盧淑霞小姐聯絡(2609-7578)。

 

News of the Language Improvement Project

1.   Summer Language and Culture Programmes

25 students departed on 3 July and 24 July 2005 respectively to attend the Summer Language and Culture Programme at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. They attended English classes at the University   of Edinburgh and stayed with local host families. The programme is designed to provide students with the opportunity to improve their English and also appreciate the culture of the host country. Another group of 19 students had set off for Beijing on 15 August 2005 to attend a summer language and culture programme at the Tsinghua Unversity. The students will have the opportunely to learn Putonghua and appreciate the Chinese culture

under the close tutorship of Tsinghua students on a one-to-two basis.     

  2.   Language Improvement Project - Autumn 2005
The Autumn 2005 courses of the College’s Language Improvement Project (LIP) are open for application from 5-17 September 2005. To cater for the needs of different students, the college will offer daytime Putonghua courses this year with priority being given to non-resident students. The programme prospectus and application forms can be obtained from the Dean of Students’ Office.
