全人發展獎勵計劃
書院於金禧年推出更新版「全人發展獎勵計劃」，供同學參加。計劃將院內外的非形式教育活動歸入五個範疇，包括德、智、體、群、美等，在所有修業年內，累積滿一定的分數可於畢業年獲頒獎項，以作鼓勵。除獎項外，書院亦會簽發一份非形式教育活動紀錄表予所有參加者。計劃名額五百個，於二零零六年九月十三日至二十三日於網上讓同學登記，先到先得。有關計劃內容及報名詳情，可瀏覽計劃網址 www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson ，查詢請電2609 7455或2609 7598。
Whole Person Development Award Programme
The revised Whole Person Development Award Programme will be launched in the College's 50th Anniversary Year. This programme aims at encouraging the College students to participate actively and systematically in their pursuit of whole person development through participation and involvement in academic as well as non-formal educational activities. Participants are expected to join or organize activities grouped under the five core areas, which include Ethical, Intellectual, Physical, Social and Aesthetic. Scores will be assigned to various activities under these areas, and be accumulated in all undergraduate years. Scoring and activity records will be issued by the College, listing out the verified activities and scores. A quota of 500 is set for 2006-07 and students can browse the programme details andregister via the programme homepage (www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson) from 13 to 23 September 2006. 澳洲昆士蘭大學交流學習計劃－「面對全球化：澳洲的經驗與香港的挑戰」
二十名聯合書院同學於本年六月前往澳洲昆士蘭大學，參加一項為期三星期以「面對全球化: 澳洲的經驗與香港的挑戰」為題的交流學習計劃。同學們透過不同形式的活動，包括講座、研討會、訪問、參觀等，對「全球化」所引發的問題作深入全面的探討。參加同學亦獲安排於當地家庭住宿，從而對澳洲人的日常生活、社會文化和風土人情，有更透切的了解。
是項交流學習計劃由昆士蘭大學社會科學學院葉富強教授精心策劃及主持。葉教授是聯合書院一九六九年社會系校友。聯合書院的同學亦順道拜訪當地校友並獲熱情招待。
"Confronting Globalization: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong" – Study Tour at the University of Queensland
In June 2005, 20 United College students participated in a three-week programme at the University of Queensland, Australia on the topic of "Confronting Globalization: Australian Experiences and Challenges for Hong Kong". Participants attended lectures, seminars, interviews and excursions focusing on globalization issues. They were also arranged to stay with local host families in order to appreciate first hand the social and cultural life of the Australian people.
The study programme was conducted by Dr David Ip, Associate Professor, School of Social Science, The University of Queensland. Dr Ip was a 1969 sociology graduate of United College. The College students also visited the local CUHK alumni association.
學生宿舍消息
本年度獲選宿生請於九月二日（星期六）下午一時至六時，攜同學生證及近照二幀，到有關宿舍辦理入宿手續。未能如期入宿者，必須於最少兩個工作天前以書面向舍監申請延期入宿，否則將作放棄宿位論。詳情請參閱有關通告或親臨學生輔導處查詢。
Hostel News
Hostel residents for the academic year 2006/2007 are advised to check in at their respective hostels between 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, 2 September 2006. Residents should bring their student identity cards and two recent photos for registration. Residents unable to check-in at the scheduled time should apply in writing to the respective wardens for late check-in at least two working days in advance. Failure to do so may mean cancellation of the hostel places allocated. For further information, please refer to the College notice boards or contact the Dean of Students' Office.
聯合書院五十周年院慶《聯合文采》徵稿
聯合書院將於二零零六年慶祝創院五十周年紀念，為慶祝此盛事，書院將舉辦連串大型活動，其中出版委員會正籌備出版《聯合文采》散文集。文集分五大部分，各收十篇，共有文章五十篇，計為：
1. 崢嶸歲月：領導層或散文名家作品十篇。
2. 舊曲重溫：歷年校刊中的佳作十篇。
3. 時雨清風： 教職員文章十篇。
4. 光輝聯合人：校友著作十篇。
5. 許一個未來：在校同學供稿十篇。
其中第五項「許一個未來」現向所有聯合同學徵稿，細節如下：
1.可用中文或英文撰寫。
2.散文體，題材不限。
3.字數最好在1000字至2000字之間。
4.稿件可附相片。另加作者簡介一則，以不逾200字為限。

Calling for Articles for Golden Jubilee Anniversary Volume
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of United College in 2006, the College will publish The Golden Jubilee Anniversary Volume in May 2007. The Volume will consist of about 50 articles coming from the administration, distinguished professors (past and present), alumni and students of United College, and from selected writings appearing in previous issues of the United Bulletin of the College.
The College Publications Committee is now inviting articles from students of the College. Submission details are as follows:
1. Articles can be written in either English or Chinese.
2. Articles can be written on any topics.
3. Articles should be between 1000 and 2000 words in length.
4. Related photos can be submitted together with the article. Please also attach a biodata of no more than 200 words to introduce the author.
5. Application form can be downloaded from http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/whatsnew/50anniCallArticles.doc
6. Please forward the article together with the completed application form via email to lukamy@cuhk.edu.hk, or internal mail to Ms Amy Luk, Secretary of United College Publications Committee on or before 30
September 2006.
7. Articles will be selected by the United College Publications Committee. The Committee will liaise with the writer on any revision of the articles before printing.
8. Individual authors should ensure that their works do not involve plagiarism or infringing intellectual property owned by others.
9. Authors of selected articles will be presented with a book coupon of HK$1,000.
10. Submission results will be notified in late October 2006.

語文改善計劃消息
1. 暑期語文及文化交流計劃
本院二十二位同學於六月廿四日前赴中國北京清華大學，參加為期半個月之語文及文化交流計劃。同學除參加由北京清華大學安排的普通話課程外，更有機會與北京清華大學本科生進行交流，在他們指導下學習普通話，以及了解北京獨特文化。
另本院二十五位同學分別於七月一日及七月二十二日前往英國參加由愛丁堡大學舉辦之暑期語文及文化交流計劃。同學由當地家庭接待，並參加由愛丁堡大學安排的英語課程和參觀當地的歷史及文化景點。同學透過計劃除可以改善英語水平外，亦加深對英國文化的了解。
2. 語文改善計劃二零零六年度秋季課程
書院語文改善計劃秋季課程將由二零零六年九月四日起至十六日期間接受同學報名。為照顧不同同學的需要，書院將提供日間普通話課程，供走讀生優先報讀。章程及報名表格可到書院學生輔導處索取。如有查詢，請與書院學生輔導處阮劍琴小姐2609 7345或盧淑霞小姐聯絡2609 7578。
News of the Language Improvement Project
1. Summer Language and Culture Programmes
22 students attended the Summer Language and Culture Programme at the Tsinghua University from 24 June to 8 July 2006 in Beijing. The students had the opportunity to learn Putonghua and appreciate the Chinese culture under the close tutorship of Tsinghua students.
Two other groups of 25 students departed on 1 July and 22 July 2006 respectively to attend the Summer Language and Culture Programme at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. They attended English classes at the University of Edinburgh and stayed with local host families. The programme is designed to provide students with the opportunity to improve their English and also appreciate the culture of the host country.
2. Language
Improvement Project - Autumn 2006
The Autumn 2006 courses of the College's Language Improvement Project (LIP)
are open for application from 4 to 16 September 2006. To cater for the needs
of different students, the college will offer daytime Putonghua courses this
year with priority being given to non-resident students. The programme
prospectus and application forms can be obtained from the Dean of Students'
Office.
