聯合書院五十周年金禧院慶活動啟動典禮暨金禧校友講座 聯合書院自一九五六年成立至今已達五十年，為慶祝書院成立五十周年而籌辦的各項活動已準備就緒，並將於新學年陸續展開。為隆重其事，書院現訂於二零零六年九月十五日上午十一時卅分假大學邵逸夫堂舉行聯合書院金禧院慶活動啟動典禮暨金禧校友講座，書院並已邀請書院五十周年院慶活動督導委員會各委員主持啟動典禮。 啟動儀式後隨即展開書院第一項金禧慶祝活動－「金禧校友講座」，主講者為劉雅章校友，講題為「厄爾尼諾」縱橫談。劉校友現於美國普林斯頓大學地球物理動力學研究所從事研究工作。講座後並於書院張祝珊師生康樂中心頂樓文怡閣舉行啟動典禮聚餐。書院金禧院慶活動啟動典禮暨金禧校友講座歡迎各仝人出席。 另外，書院金禧院慶歷史專題展覽於九月十五日起至九月二十一日於邵逸夫堂留足展覽廳舉行，是次展覽以歷史圖片介紹書院的成長和發展。此展覽將於九月二十九日至十月十二日及十月十四日至十一月三十日分別於大學圖書館展覽廳及胡忠多媒體圖書館繼續展出。 如有查詢，請致電2609 8657或2609 8655與本院學生事務助理主任陳鄧翠怡女士或周鍾寶華女士聯絡。

United College Golden Jubilee Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony cum Golden Jubilee Alumni Talk United College is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Anniversary in 2006. A whole series of celebration activities has been planned in this academic year to commemorate the occasion. A special Golden Jubilee Anniversary Kick-off ceremony will be held on 15 September 2006 at 11:30 am at the Sir Run Sun Shaw Hall. The College has invited members of the College 50th Anniversary Activities Steering Committee to officiate the Ceremony. The Golden Jubilee Anniversary Alumni Talk will start immediately after the Kick-off Ceremony. Professor Lau Ngar Cheung, Gabriel from the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory of the Princeton University will give the first talk on the topic of "A Broad Survey of E1 Nino". The day's highlight will be the Golden Jubilee Anniversary Luncheon at 1:00 pm at the College Staff Common Room on the top floor of the Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Centre. All members of the College are invited to join. Furthermore, a Historical Picture Exhibition for Golden Jubilee Anniversary will be held on the same day, 15 September until 21 September at Foyer Gallery, Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. This exhibition will present historical pictures of United College which show the growth and development of the College. This exhibition will be presented at University Library Exhibition Gallery and Wu Chung Multimedia Library during 29 September – 12 October and 14 October – 30 November respectively. 聯合書院五十周年金禧院慶典禮 書院五十周年金禧院慶典禮訂於十月二十日（星期五）上午十一時卅分假大學邵逸夫堂舉行。書院校董會主席岑才生先生及香港特別行政區政府教育統籌局局長李國章教授將擔任主禮嘉賓，並致勉辭及頒授書院獎學金。 典禮後，書院隨即於聯合校園舉行院慶生日會，書院教職員聯誼會將送出五十磅大蛋糕致賀。生日會後，書院即於張祝珊師生康樂中心頂樓文怡閣舉行院慶午餐。為慶祝書院院慶，書院學生會亦籌備了一連串的慶祝活動，節目內容將於稍後公佈。 院慶為書院一年一度之盛事，歡迎各同仁踴躍出席各項活動。如有查詢，請致電2609 8655與學生輔導處周鍾寶華女士聯絡。

Golden Jubilee Anniversary Ceremony The Ceremony marking the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of United College will be held on Friday, 20 October 2006 (Friday) at 11:30 am at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall of the University. Mr Shum Choi Sang, SBS, JP, Chairman of the United College Board of Trustees and Professor Arthur K C Li, GBS, JP, Secretary for Education and Manpower, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will officiate at the Ceremony and present College scholarships. Immediately after the ceremony, there will be a birthday party on the College campus. The College Staff Association will donate a 50-pound birthday cake for the occasion. The day's highlight will be the Anniversary Luncheon at the College Staff Common Room at 1:15 pm. The College Student Union also organizes a series of activities to celebrate the occasion, details will be announced soon. 金禧院慶音樂會
日期: 18.11.2006 8:00pm 地點: 沙田大會堂演奏廳 票價: $100, $40 (全日制學生，長者及殘疾人士半價) 是次金禧院慶音樂會以「明德新民．氣象萬千」為主題。音樂會分兩部份，上半場以中樂為主，下半場為西樂及合唱，以表現聯合書院貫通古今、融會中西的學風。表演嘉賓及節目包括： • 香港中文大學晨興書院書院候任院長、中文大學博文講座教授暨一九九六年諾貝爾經濟學獎得主莫理斯爵士及日本研究學系水戶考道教授鋼琴二重奏 • 曾於二零零一年德國世界口琴節公開組奪得冠軍的聯合校友何永泰先生作口琴表演 • 由聯合同學與校友組成，及由知名合唱音樂工作者蔣慧民校友擔任指揮的金禧合唱團 • 被香港中文大學藝術行政辦公室委任為駐校藝術家的聯合同學伍慶賢鋼琴獨奏 • 聯合同學梅朗心與徐永業古箏二重奏及音樂系中樂合作小組之中樂演出 • 香港中文大學崇基管弦樂團及崇基學院合唱團之聯合演出等 金禧院慶音樂會演出陣容鼎盛，節目豐富。歡迎致電書院輔導處訂票，與聯合師生及校友一起分享一個愉快的晚上，門票亦將於十月十八日起於城市電腦售票處發售。

A galaxy of Chinese and Western music programmes will be presented in the Golden Jubilee Anniversary Concert, reflecting the development of a multicultural campus in United College. Appointment of Emeritus Professors In accordance with Statute 21 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance, the University Council awarded the title of emeritus professor to the following UC members with effect from 1 August 2006, as recommended by the Senate, in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements and service to the University. 聯合書院五十周年院慶《聯合文采》徵稿 聯合書院將於二零零六年慶祝創院五十周年紀念，為慶祝此盛事，書院將舉辦連串大型活動，其中出版委員會正籌備出版《聯合文采》散文集。文集分五大部分，各收十篇，共有文章五十篇，計為： 1. 崢嶸歲月：領導層或散文名家作品十篇。 2. 舊曲重溫：歷年校刊中的佳作十篇。 3. 時雨清風： 教職員文章十篇。 4. 光輝聯合人：校友著作十篇。 5. 許一個未來：在校同學供稿十篇。
其中第三項「時雨清風」及第五項「許一個未來」現向所有聯合書院教職員及聯合同學徵稿，細節如下：

Calling for Articles for Golden Jubilee Anniversary Volume To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of United College in 2006, the College will publish The Golden Jubilee Anniversary Volume in May 2007. The Volume will consist of about 50 articles coming from the administration, distinguished professors (past and present), alumni and students of United College, and from selected writings appearing in previous issues of the United Bulletin of the College. The College Publications Committee is now inviting articles from staff and students of the College. Submission details are as follows:
1. Articles can be written in either English or Chinese. 2. Articles can be written on any topics. 3. Articles should be between 1000 and 2000 words in length. 4. Related photos can be submitted together with the article. Please also attach a biodata of no more than 200 words tointroduce the author. 5. Application form can be downloaded from http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc\whatsnew/50anniCallArticles.doc 6. Please forward the article together with the completed application form via email to lukamy@cuhlk.edu.hk or internal mail to Ms Amy Luk, Secretary of United College Publications Committee on or before 30 September 2006. 7. Articles will be selected by the United College Publications Committee. The Committee will liaise with the writer on any revision of the articles before printing. 8. 恭賀 聯合書院院長馮國培教授獲委任為中醫中藥研究所所長，任期兩年，由二零零六年八月一日起生效。 本院教職員大學博文講座教授、一九九六年諾貝爾經濟學得獎人莫理斯爵士獲大學校董會委任為晨興書院候任院長。 另本院教職員李子建教授獲選連任教育學院院長，任期三年，由二零零六年八月一日起生效。 本院同仁謹致賀忱!

Congratulations Professor K P Fung, College Head of United College, has been appointed as Director, Institute of Chinese Medicine for two years from 1 August 2006. United College member, Professor Sir James Mirrlees has been appointed as Master-Designate of Morningside College by the University Council. Professor John Lee, United College member, has been re-elected Dean of Education for three years from 1 August 2006. Our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Mirrlees and Professor Lee!
