美國統計學會頒授院士銜 本院統計學系陳毅恒教授獲美國統計學會頒授院士銜，以表彰陳教授對統計學研究、教育和應用的貢獻。學會讚揚陳教授在不穩定時間序列；時間序列在經濟、金融和海洋學之應用；以及風險管理有突破性的研究，並領導計算機金融學的統計教育，更為多份學術期刊的編輯。美國統計學會是次合共頒發全球六十名院士銜，本年度亞太區只有兩位會員獲此榮譽，其一是陳教授，另一獲院士銜會員來自日本。 本院同仁謹致賀忱!

The Fellowship Award of the American Statistical Association United College member, Professor Chan Ngai Hang from Department of Statistics was elected as the Fellow of the American Statistical Association for his path-breaking research on unstable time series and time series applications to economics, finance, and oceanography; for leadership in statistical education programmes in computational finance and risk management; and for editorial service to the profession. Sixty fellows were elected worldwise by the ASA. He is also one of two recipients from the Asia-Pacific; the other recipient comes from Japan. Congratulations to Professor Chan!

二零零七至零八年度「到訪傑出學人」計劃接受提名 由書院基金會贊助之「到訪傑出學人」計劃每年邀請國際知名學者到訪書院，進行為期約兩週之學術交流活動。到訪傑出學人及其配偶之商務客位機票、宿費及酬金港幣二萬元均由本計劃資助。至於訪問活動之細節由「到訪傑出學人」委員會及提名人共同商議及安排，一般包括兩至三次公開講座及師生學術交流活動等。 二零零七年至二零零八年度「到訪傑出學人」計劃現公開接受各學系同寅提名。提名人須填妥提名表格，連同有關履歷交系主任加簽，於二零零六年十月卅日或以前送達委員會秘書。查詢計劃詳情或索取提名表格可致電委員會秘書林偉源先生2609 7598。

Nomination for the 2007/08 Distinguished Visiting Scholars Opens Nominations are now invited from all academic staff of United College for the 2007-08 Distinguished Visiting Scholars (“DVS”). The nominees should be internationally renowned scholars in any field of study. The DVS Scheme is sponsored by the United College Endowment Fund and offers a $20,000 honorarium for the invited scholar plus round-trip business class airfares and accommodation for the scholar and her/his spouse. The detailed programme for the visit will be designed by the DVS Committee in consultation with the nominator. The invited scholar is expected to deliver two to three public lectures and take part in other academic and social activities with the staff and students of the College. Nominations, together with the nominee’s full curriculum vitae and endorsement by the respective department chairperson, should be forwarded to the DVS Committee Secretary on or before 30 October 2006. |
