書院金禧粵語辯論隊正式成立

書院本年度的粵語辯論員招募工作經已完成，十二位同學脫穎而出，通過嚴格的面試，成功加入辯論隊，書院謹致熱烈祝賀。辯論隊成員如下：

書院並邀得書院導師黃鉅鴻先生續任辯論隊隊監。黃隊監對演辯素有研究，他將會協助培訓隊員，提升他們的演辯技巧，積極為未來的比賽作好準備。書院謹向所有隊員致以衷心祝賀!

Formation of the UC Golden Jubilee Cantonese Debating Team

The recruitment exercise of the College's Cantonese Debaters in 2006/2007 has been completed, and twelve students were chosen to form the Debating team of the College.  Our hearty congratulations to the following students:

The College has invited Mr Wong Kui Hung, College Tutor, as the Warden of the Debate Team for the third year.  Mr Wong will assist in the training of team members, and get them prepared for the future activities.  Our heartfelt congratulations to all team members.

書院海外交換計劃

2007至2008年度之書院海外交換計劃現已開始接受申請，有關計劃詳情及申請辦法，請參閱輔導處佈告板、瀏覽書院網頁或親往輔導處查詢。截止申請日期為二零零六年十一月一日。有關計劃分別為：

United College Overseas Exchange Programmes

Applications are now open for four of the College Overseas Exchange Programmes tenable in 2007/2008 academic year.  For further details, please refer to the College notice boards, visit the College homepage or the Dean of Students' Office.  The closing date for applications is 1 November 2006.  The programmes are :

聯合書院國際演講會

聯合書院國際演講會自二零零五年成立以來，一直本著訓練會員公開演講的能力及技巧為服務宗旨。第二屆國際演講會已於二零零六年九月十四日假蔡冠深通識教育資源中心舉行示範會議，會議當日氣氛熱鬧，多位國際演講會分區比賽冠軍級人馬作示範演講表演，吸引七十多位聯合同學出席。

另聯合書院國際演講會交職典禮已於二零零六年十月五日假蔡冠深通識教育資源中心舉行。典禮當日聯合書院馮國培院長及國際演講會香港分區施嘉義先生應邀出席擔任主禮嘉賓。

United College Toastmasters Club

Since its charter in 2005, United College Toastmasters Club continually promotes English public speaking skills on United College campus. The Club's motto is 'Take the Stage, Speak your World'. The second session's demonstration meeting was held on 14 September 2006 at Choi Koon Shum General Education Resource Centre. The marvelous demonstration speeches delivered by champions of Toastmasters Speech Contests attracted more than 70 United College students to join the meeting.

The Inauguration Ceremony of the United College Toastmasters Club was held on 5 October 2006. Professor K P Fung, College Head and Mr Neil Sy, Toastmasters Club Division H Governor, Hong Kong officiated at the Inauguration Ceremony.

2006-2007年度聯合書院岑才生學長計劃

本年度聯合書院岑才生學長計劃已於二零零六年九月展開，這項計劃是由聯合書院與書院校友會合辦，旨在提供機會讓校友學長與在校同學互相交流和分享人生經驗。為使各參加者清楚了解此計劃的詳情，學長計劃統籌委員會於二零零六年八月三十一日及九月六日，分別舉行學長及學員簡佈會，而迎新晚會則於二零零六年九月二十一日假富豪九龍酒店舉行。當日出席的嘉賓包括聯合書院校董會主席暨學長計劃贊助人岑才生先生、聯合書院校友會會長張煊昌博士、聯合書院院長馮國培教授與及百多位校友和同學，場面十分熱鬧。

United College Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme 2006/2007

The UC Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme (2006/2007), jointly organized by the United College and the UC Alumni Association, was launched in September 2006. This Programme aims to create one-to-one supportive mentoring relationships between alumni of United College and its undergraduates over a period of one year. In order to enable all participants to have a better understanding of the objectives and activities of the Programme, the Programme Coordinating Committee organized two briefing sessions for the mentors and mentees in August and September. The inauguration dinner was held on 21 September 2006 at the Regal Kowloon Hotel. Mr Shum Choi Sang, Chairman of the United College Board of Trustees and donor of the Programme; Dr Thomas H C Cheung, President of the United College Alumni Association; Professor K P Fung, Head of United College and over 140 mentors and mentees had attended the ceremony.
