聯合同學於首屆穗港澳大學生詩詞創作大賽獲獎
聯合同學黃令時(翻譯五年級)及黃冠禧(語文教育四年級)於二零零六年首屆穗港澳大學生詩詞創作大賽分別獲得詩組冠軍及詞組優異獎。
本院同仁謹致賀忱!
1st Hong Kong – Guangzhou University Students Chinese Poem Writing Competition
UC students, Mr Wong Ling Sze (TRA/5) and Mr Wong Koon Hay (LED/4) won the Champion and Outstanding Award for the 1st Hong Kong – Guangzhou University Students Chinese Poem Writing Competition.

2006/2007年度書院獎學金
以下獎項已開始接受申請：
馮秉芬獎 獎額共兩名，每名港幣五萬元。由馮秉芬爵士家族每年捐資成立。 該獎學金旨在推廣「德智體群美」五育的全人發展。 獲獎的本院畢業班同學可選擇繼續進修， 參與國際學術交流及研討活動或發展創意工業。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月三十一日。
戴麟趾爵士獎學金 獎額共五名， 每名港幣一萬元。 該獎學金旨在獎勵於在學期間積極參與課外活動，並在領導才能方面有傑出表現的本院畢業班同學。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月三十一日。
明德新民傑出貢獻獎 獎額一名， 港幣一萬元， 由聯合書院明德新民校友基金資助。旨在獎勵於在學期間對大學及書院作出傑出服務及貢獻的畢業班同學。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月三十一日。
王德昭紀念獎學金 王德昭紀念獎學金乃為紀念本院已故歷史系教授暨中國文化研究所前高級研究員王德昭先生而設。每年設奬額一名，金額為港幣三千元正，頒予學術論文優異之畢業班學生。其論文必須與中國近世史或現代中國歷史有關。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月三十一日。
王德昭紀念學業獎 本院為紀念前歷史系教授王德昭先生在歷史學之貢獻，特設立上述獎項，頒予撰寫學術論文成績優異之聯合書院本科生，惟其論文必須與中國近世史或現代中國歷史有關。上述獎項共設獎額兩名，每名獎金港幣一千元正。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月三十一日。
黃李碧恥紀念獎學金 獎額一名，港幣一萬元，由「李碧恥紀念基金」資助。旨在表揚在社會服務方面有傑出表現的社會工作學系同學。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月二十日。
聯合書院謝婉雯醫生紀念獎學金 獎額共三名，每名港幣一萬元。旨在鼓勵本院醫科生積極參與社會服務，熱心公益，以發揚謝婉雯校友在沙士期間熱心助人的無私精神。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月二十日。
書院傑出服務獎 獎額共六名，每名港幣一千元至一萬元。旨在獎勵於過去一年間在服務書院或推動書院活動方面表現傑出之同學。申請者須由書院行政人員提名。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月二十日。
院長創作獎 院長為提倡書院內之創作風氣及鼓勵同學個人或集體創作之興趣，特捐出「院長創作獎」一名，獎金為港幣一千五百元正。凡屬本院同學於過去一年內完成之學術論文、研究報告、文學創作、音樂作品、美術設計或科學發明等均可參加競逐。 截止申請日期為二零零七年一月二十日。

College Scholarships for 2006/2007
Applications are now invited for the following scholarships:
Two annual scholarships, in the amount of HK$50,000 each, were established with the donation from the family of Sir Kenneth Fung Ping Fan in his memory, to support final year students of United College in pursuit of whole person development along the five core areas: ethical and moral, intellectual, physical, social and interpersonal and aesthetic. These scholarships may be used for postgraduate studies, for participation in international events or as seed money to start creative entrepreneurial projects. Application will close on 31 January 2007.
Sir David Trench Scholarships These scholarships, five in total of HK$10,000 each, are awarded to final year students with good leadership qualities and outstanding contribution to student activities and/ or community services. Application will close on 31 January 2007.
Ming De Xin Min Distinguished Service Award This Scholarship, in the amount of HK$10,000, was established through a donation from the "Ming De Xin Min Alumni Fund". The Scholarship will be awarded to final year students who have made significant contributions to the College or the University during their undergraduate studies. Application will close on 31 January 2007.
Wang Teh-chao Memorial Scholarship Graduates and final year students of United College are invited to apply for the Wang Teh-chao Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship has been set up in memory of the late Mr Wang Teh-chao, former Reader in History of United College and former senior Research Fellow of the University's Institute of Chinese Studies. Application will close on 31 January 2007.
Wang Teh-chao Memorial Prizes Two prizes, in amount of HK$1,000 each, are awarded to United College Students for outstanding essays on the history of later imperial China (900-1800) or history of Modern China. Application will close on 31 January 2007.
Mrs Eva Wong Memorial Scholarship This Scholarship, in the amount of HK$10,000, was established through a donation from the "Eva Li Memorial Fund". The Scholarship will be awarded to one Social Work student who has attained outstanding performance in community services. Application will close on 20 January 2007.
UC Dr Tse Yuen Man Memorial Scholarships Three scholarships, HK$10,000 each, were established to encourage more young medical students to continue the vision of Dr. Tse Yuen Man, a graduate of United College and a great fighter against SARS, in utilizing her knowledge to cure suffering and save lives. Application will close on 20 January 2007.
Distinguished College Service Awards There will be six awards ranging from HK$1,000 to HK$10,000. The prizes will be awarded to students having demonstrated outstanding development in academic and extra-curricular activities as well as of significant contributions to College or campus life in the year 2005. Candidates for these awards are nominated by staff of the College. Application will close on 20 January 2007.
Head of College Creativity Prize The Head of College Creativity Prize has been established to promote student interest in creative projects. A cash prize of HK1,500 will be awarded to a student or a group of students who has demonstrated good creativity in an academic paper, research report, literary or musical composition, work of art or scientific invention completed within the last 12 months. Application will close on 20 January 2007.

書院語文改善計劃及促進雙語教學計劃 - 二零零七年春季課程
書院「語文改善計劃」及「促進雙語教學計劃」春季課程將於二零零七年一月八日至廿二日接受同學報名。同學除可報讀普通話及英語課程外，亦可報名參加將於二零零七年暑期舉行的多個不同的「外地語文及文化交流活動」及「語文學習營」。章程及報名表格可到書院學生輔導處索取。

The Language Improvement Project & The Project for Promoting Bilingual Skills - Spring Programmes 2007
Applications for the Spring courses of the College's 2007 Language Improvement Project (LIP) and the Project for Promoting Bilingual Skills will open from 8 to 22 January 2007. Apart from the local Putonghua and English courses, non-local Language and Culture Programmes as well as language immersion camps will be organized in summer 2007. Interested students may collect the programme booklets and application forms from the Dean of Students' Office.

聯合書院國際演講會由二零零七年一月十一日起每隔星期四晚上六時四十五分於曾肇添樓四樓蔡冠深通識資源中心舉行演講會議。
同學透過一連串有系統的練習，訓練英語演講技巧及即席演講的應變能力。同學亦可同時學習對其他參加者的演講作出有效的評價。

United College Toastmasters Club
United College Toastmasters Club meetings will be held on alternate Thursday, 6:45pm at Choi Koon Shum General Education Resources Centre, 4/F Tsang Shiu Tim Building from 11 January 2007 onwards.
Toastmasters training can help students to give better presentations with English, to effectively develop and present ideas, to offer constructive criticism and to accept criticism more objectively.

書院創意學生活動獎勵計劃接受申請
書院為鼓勵同學籌辦具創意的活動，特設「創意學生活動獎」供本院同學或學生團體申請。計劃目的在於鼓勵學生或學生團體籌辦優質活動；提高學生及學生組織的積極性；及推動學生積極投入校園生活。
是項計劃現正接受申請。歡迎聯合書院學生會認可的學生團體或本院同學以個人或小組名義申請。申請表格及計劃書可於二零零七年三月十七日(星期六)或以前向書院輔導處遞交。
得獎人或單位將獲得不超過港幣兩萬元的資助，作為籌辦該項活動的經費。開支實報實銷。得獎個人或團體須向書院呈交活動及財政報告。本計劃由聯合書院鄭棟材博士紀念基金資助。申請表格可於書院輔導處索取或於書院網頁下載，查詢請電2609 7570 與書院學生輔導處林偉源先生或何惠芬女士聯絡。

Creative Student
Activity Award Programme Now Opens for Application
To encourage students to organize new or creative activities, the College has established the Creative Student Activity Award Programme since 2002. The aims of the programmes are: 1) encouraging students or student bodies to organize quality activities; 2) encouraging students / student bodies to be more active in organizing activities; and 3) promoting students' participation in College life.
The Programme for 2007 is now open for application. Students of United College or student organizations registered with the United College Student Union are eligible to apply. Interested parties should submit the applications and activity proposals to the Dean of Students' Office on or before 17 March 2007.
The winning students or organization(s) will be awarded up to HK$20,000 of subsidy for organizing the programme. A detailed activity and financial reports must be submitted to the College upon completion of the programme. This award programme is funded by the United College T C Cheng Memorial Fund.
