新春期間，本院學生宿舍將於二零零七年二月十六日（年廿九）中午十二時起至二月二十一日（年初四）下午五時止暫停開放。非本地生如需於關閉期間繼續留宿，請於二月九日前以書面通知舍監。關閉期內，宿舍將暫停服務。
Student Hostel News
During the Lunar New Year
holidays, the student hostels of the College will be closed from 12:00 noon
on 16 February 2007 to 5:00 pm on 21 February 2007. Non-local students who
wish to stay on during the said period must notify their respective wardens
in writing before 9 February 2007. No hostel services will be provided
during the said period.
聯合同學於第九屆遠東及南太平洋區傷殘人士運動會勇奪獎牌
本院社會工作學系三年級學生劉恩賜同學，於二零零六年十一月二十二日至十二月二日於馬來西亞吉隆坡舉行的第九屆遠東及南太平洋區傷殘人士運動會奪得BC4級別單打亞軍及雙打冠軍。
United College Student Won trophies in 9th FESPIC Games
Mr Lau Yan-chi, year 3 social work student of United College, has won the first runner up in Individual BC4 competition and Champion in Pairs BC4 competition in 9th FESPIC Games held in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur during 22 November – 2 December 2006.
書院創意學生活動獎勵計劃接受申請
書院為鼓勵同學籌辦具創意的活動，特設「創意學生活動獎」供本院同學或學生團體申請。計劃目的在於1) 鼓勵學生或學生團體籌辦優質活動；2) 提高學生及學生組織的積極性；及 3) 推動學生積極投入校園生活。
是項計劃現正接受申請。歡迎聯合書院學生會認可的學生團體或本院同學以個人或小組名義申請。申請表格及計劃書可於二零零七年三月十七日(星期六)或以前向書院輔導處遞交。
得獎人或單位將獲得不超過港幣兩萬元的資助，作為籌辦該項活動的經費。開支實報實銷。得獎個人或團體須向書院呈交活動及財政報告。
本計劃由聯合書院鄭棟材博士紀念基金資助。申請表格可於書院學生輔導處索取或於書院網頁下載，查詢請電2609 7570 與書院學生輔導處林偉源先生或何惠芬女士聯絡。
Creative Student Activity Award Programme Now Opens for Application
To encourage students to organize new or creative ctivities, the College has established the Creative Student Activity Award Programme since 2002. The aims of the programmes are: 1) encouraging students or student bodies to organize quality activities; 2) encouraging students / student bodies to be more active in organizing activities; and 3) promoting students' participation in College life.
The Programme for 2007 is now open for application. Students of United College or student organizations registered with the United College Student Union are eligible to apply. Interested parties should submit the applications and activity proposals to the Dean of Students’ Office on or before 17 March 2007.
The winning students or organization(s) will be awarded up to HK$20,000 of subsidy for organizing the programme. A detailed activity and financial reports must be submitted to the College upon completion of the programme.
This award programme is funded by the United College T C Cheng Memorial Fund. Application forms are available at the Dean of Students’ Office or from the College homepage. For further information contact Mr George Lam or Ms Kitty Ho at 2609 7570.
書院獎學金消息
以下獎項已開始接受申請：
一．
2006/2007暑期進修獎學金 (截止日期: 二零零七年二月二十六日)
陳曾燾博士中國內地考察獎學金
獎額共兩名，每名港幣二萬元，資助本院同學於暑假期間以小組形式，前赴中國內地進行社會、經濟、
文化、環境和教育等考察計劃。
黃桂林伉儷海外進修獎學金
由書院校友黃桂林伉儷捐資成立，獎額共五名，每名港幣一萬元，資助本院同學於暑假期間前往美國長
春籐大學或具同等名聲的大學進行短期學習或考察。
二． 2007/2008本港及海外研究獎學金 (截止日期: 二零零七年三月十六日)
梁鶴年留學獎學金
獎額一名，港幣十二萬元，資助本院畢業生前往海外著名學府繼續升學。凡修讀為人類造益的課程並承
諾於學成後回港服務之申請人將被優先考慮。
邵逸夫爵士留學獎學金
獎額一至兩名，合共港幣四萬元，資助本院應屆畢業生前往海外著名學府繼續升學。
鄭棟材研究獎學金
獎額一至兩名，合共港幣五萬元，資助本院畢業生在本港或海外著名學府繼續升學。申請人年齡須少於
二十六歲。
三．2006/2007書院體育運動獎 (截止日期: 二零零七年三月十六日)
書院本年度設有體育運動獎三十一名，每名港幣一千元至一萬元，頒予在體育活動方面有傑出表現之聯
合同學。申請者須 由書院體育部提名。

A. Summer Programmes Awards 2006/2007 (application deadline: 26/2/2007)
Dr Thomas T T Chen Scholarships for
Study Projects in China
These scholarships, HK$20,000 each, were established to enable students to visit China and carry out independent research on its society, economy, culture, environment and education during the summer break.
Mr & Mrs K L Wong Overseas Scholarships
Five scholarships, in the amount of
HK$10,000 each, were established through a donation by Mr & Mrs K L Wong to
support undergraduate students of United College who are going to an Ivy
League school or an institution of comparable repute in the USA, during the
summer break, to read a short course of study or join a short training
programme.
B. Postgraduate Scholarships 2007/2008 (application deadline: 16/3/2007)

Postgraduate Scholarships
This scholarship, in the amount of HK$120,000, is awarded to graduates of United College to pursue full-time postgraduate programme in reputable overseas educational institution. Preferences will be given to those students who plan to pursue a higher degree in human-service-related discipline. Students indicating willingness to return to Hong Kong after studies overseas will have a distinct advantage.
Sir Run Run Shaw Postgraduate
Scholarship(s)
One to two scholarships, in a total amount of HK$40,000, will be awarded to fresh graduates of United College to start off their first year of postgraduate studies at recognized overseas universities.
T.C. Cheng Postgraduate Scholarship(s)
One to two scholarships, in a total amount of HK$50,000, will be awarded to graduates of United College to pursue postgraduate studies at recognized universities in Hong Kong or abroad. Applicants are preferably under 26 years of age.
C. College Athletic Awards 2006/2007
(application deadline: 16/3/2007)
United College will be offering a total of 31 athletic awards, ranging in value from HK $1,000 to HK$10,000, for the year 2006/2007. These prizes are to be awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional athletic and sports abilities or who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities during the year. Applications and/or nominations should be made through the College's Physical Education Unit.

聯合同學於首屆穗港澳大學生詩詞創作大賽獲獎
聯合同學黃令時(翻譯五年級)及黃冠禧(語文教育四年級)於二零零六年首屆穗港澳大學生詩詞創作大賽分別獲得詩組冠軍及詞組優異獎。

1st Hong Kong – Guangzhou University Students Chinese Poem Writing Competition
UC students, Mr Wong Ling Sze (TRA/5) and Mr Wong Koon Hay (LED/4) won the Champion and Outstanding Award for the 1st Hong Kong – Guangzhou University Students Chinese Poem Writing Competition.
