語文改善計劃消息 — 暑期外地語文及文化計劃

本年度之暑期外地語文及文化計劃的報名情況非常踴躍。書院經已選拔出三十五位同學，獲得書院資助參加與英國蘇格蘭愛丁堡及中國陝西師範大學協辦暑期語文及文化課程。獲選同學名單詳見附件二。

News from Language Improvement Project — Non-Local Language & Culture Programmes

This year's Summer Non-local Language and Culture Programmes have received enthusiastic support from students. A total of 35 students were selected to participate in the summer programmes co-organized by University of Edinburgh in the UK and Shaanxi Normal University in the PRC. The list of selected students is in Attachment 2.

書院粵語辯論隊奪零七年中大五角賽冠軍

書院粵語辯論隊於本年二月至四月期間參加中大五角辯論比賽，於四月十八日舉行的冠軍賽中以二比一撃敗逸夫辯論隊，奪得此項賽事的冠軍。是次比賽辯題為「港府應增設副局長一職」，反方隊伍為逸夫書院，本院則擔任正方。書院謹向隊監黃鉅鴻先生及各隊員致以熱烈祝賀！

The College Cantonese Debate Team Won Championship Title in the CU Pentagonal Competition in 2007

The College’s Cantonese Debate Team participated in the University's Pentagonal Debate Competition in 2007 from February to April, and they won the match against Shaw College on 18 April 2007 by two to one and grasped the Championship title. Our heartily congratulations to Mr Jeremiah Wong, Team Warden and all team members!

學生宿舍二零零六/二零零七年度住宿期終結

二零零六至二零零七年度學生宿舍宿期將於二零零七年五月三十一日（星期四）中午十二時終結，各宿生須於當日中午十二時前遷出宿舍（已與舍監作出特別安排者除外）。宿生須將鑰匙交回宿舍詢問處並填妥「退還宿舍按金表格」連同過戶銀行存摺印有戶口號碼之內頁副本，一併於退還鑰匙時交予宿舍負責人，或於六月十五日前交至書院輔導處。逾期交回表格者，按金將不予發還。

End of 2006/2007 Hostel Residence 

The regular term hostel residence for 2006/2007 will end at 12:00 noon on Thursday, 31 May 2007. All residents should check out by then unless prior arrangements have been made with the wardens. Residents should return their keys to the hostel enquiry counters. For refund of hostel deposits, residents should fill out the appropriate application forms obtainable from the enquiry counters of their respective hostels and attach a copy of the relevant page of their bank account passbooks for autopay purposes. These documents should be returned to their respective hostels together with the room keys. Alternatively, the said documents can be handed in to the Dean of Students' Office before 15 June 2007.  Late applications will not be entertained. 

二零零四級社消息 — 二零零七年書院畢業同學惜別會

書院本年度的畢業同學惜別會已於四月十三日假書院聚會期間舉行，逾一百五十名聯合同學出席。惜別會是由二零零四年級社《互聯社》主辦，以短片形式輯錄了書院大型活動的盛況。隨後由出席的同學各自訴説心底話，分享書院生活的點滴，體現同學對書院歸屬感。書院校友會副會長何萬森先生及張景文牧師等亦有出席是次惜別會。

級社是聯合書院自二零零一年起新成立的學生組織，級社成員以入學年度區分，目的是加強同屆書院同學的聯繫。「互聯社」為第四屆級社。成員為二零零四年入學的聯合學生。

News from the 2004 Class Society — 2007 Graduation Class Farewell Party

A party organized by the 2004 Class Society to farewell the graduates was held on 13 April.  At the party, video clips of memorable moments were shared. Participants also shared fond memories of their College life and study experiences so as to demonstrate their sense of belongings to the College. Mr. Ho Man Sum and Rev Cheung King Man, Vice Presidents of the College Alumni Association also attended the Farewell Party to share their College life and the United College Alumni Association to the students. 

“Class Society” is a student organization formed since 2001 to link up College students of the same year. Members of the Society are grouped by their entrance year. 2004 Class Society is the fourth College Class Society. Members are students who entered the College in 2004.

聯合學生榮獲二零零六至二零零七年度傑出學生服務獎 

本院醫學院一年級譚皓珮同學榮獲二零零六至二零零七年度傑出學生服務獎。傑出學生服務獎由香港學生事務協會及香港傑出專上學生服務協會合辦，自一九九一至一九九二年度起每年舉辦，旨於鼓勵學生積極服務社會，發揮領袖才能。書院謹向譚同學致衷心祝賀！

UC Student wins the Hong Kong Outstanding Tertiary Student Service Award

Ms Tam Ho Pui, Lydia, a Year 1 Medical student of United College, has won this year's Hong Kong Outstanding Tertiary Student Award.  The Outstanding Service Awards have been established since 1991-92 with the aim to encourage student to develop leadership skill and serve the community. The awards are administered by the Hong Kong Student Service Association and the Hong Kong Outstanding Tertiary Students' Services Association. Our heartily congratulations to Ms Lydia Tam!

港、中、美三地萌芽學者學術交流計劃

本院萌芽學者學術交流團一行八人將由學術顧問地理與資源管理學系林琿教授和生物系朱利民教授帶領下，於二零零七年六月十五日至二十四日期間出訪浙江大學交流。期間聯合書院萌芽學者將以「From Land Use to Sustainable Development」為題進行專題研究，並在浙江大學公開發表有關研究結果。

Hong Kong-PRC-USA Budding Scholars Exchange Programme

Eight budding scholars of United College, accompanied by the Academic advisers, Professor Lin Hui from Department of Geography Resource and Management and Professor Chu Lee Man from Department of Biology, will visit the Zhejiang University from 15 to 24 June 2007. During their stay at the Zhejiang University, the budding scholars of United College will conduct an open seminar on the topic “From Land Use to Sustainable Development”.

聯合書院美國華盛頓考察計劃

二十名聯合書院學生將於七月至八月前往美國華盛頓兩星期，參加一項由聯合書院與港美中心合辦為期兩星期的學習及考察。學員將由法律學院Professor Mark Gaylord 率領下，透過不同形式的活動如參觀、訪問及與議員、政府官員、學者及當地學生會面及研討會等，以加深對美國的司法制度及社會面貌的認識，並就參觀後所見所聞撰寫報告。

The College Travel Study Programme Project —  Washington DC 

20 United College Students will go to Washington DC, USA in July-August 2007 under the captioned programme jointly organized by the College and Hong Kong America Center. This 2-week study programme is designed to provide the participants a general introduction to the legal system and social cultures of America and will be led by Professor Mark Gaylord who is a Fulbright Visiting Professor currently visiting the School of Law. Participants will learn through group discussions, visits to the Senate, courts, museums, and various government and non-government organizations as well as meetings with senators, government officials, academics and students. The students will be required to conduct academic research on the topic of “Law and Society in America”. 

二零零七畢業班捐貲承諾計劃

二百八十位應屆畢業同學積極響應院長馮國培教授的呼籲，率先在今年三月的書院畢業班拍照日期間參加「二零零七畢業班捐貲承諾計劃」，即時繫上紀念襟針拍照留念，盡顯對母校發展的支持。

畢業班捐貲承諾計劃始於二零零四年，旨在鼓勵畢業同學承先啟後支持母校發展。今年反應十分熱烈，至今已有接近百份之四十的應屆本科畢業同學踴躍參加，成績令人鼓舞。新一輪的推廣活動亦將緊隨展開，鼓勵應屆畢業的本科生及研究生支持是項饒有意義的活動。

此計劃乃「中大校友萬眾一心捐贈計劃」的活動之一，應屆畢業同學只須承諾三年內捐貲港幣五百元或八百元正予母校作學生發展用途，便可即時獲贈刻有大學校徽及畢業年份之紀念襟針，別具意義。「茁壯中大人，回饋添護蔭」，尚未加入捐貲承諾行列的畢業同學，請登入http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/oia/ 07classpledge 填覆捐贈表格，為大學及書院發展出一分力。

2007 Graduating Class Pledge Scheme 

280 graduating students thronged to sign up the “2007 Graduating Class Pledge Scheme” in response to the College Heads’ appeal during the College Photo Days. Many of them were proud to wear their class pin expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the University. 

Over 40% of the Undergraduates have already signed up the Scheme for this year. Launched since 2004, the “Graduating Class Pledge Scheme” aims to encourage new graduates to foster the tradition of giving back to their Alma Mater.

The Scheme falls part of the series under the University-wide Alumni Donation Scheme. Graduating Students who have pledged to donate HK$500 or HK$800 in three years will receive tailor-made souvenir pins, with the University's emblem and year of graduation engraved on it as tokens of commitment.
