第四屆人口地理國際會議 由地理與資源管理學系主辦的第四屆人口地理國際會議，已於七月十日至十三日假利黃瑤璧樓舉行。是次國際會議由地理與資源管理學系沈建法教授擔任組織委員會主席。社會科學院院長李少南教授與地理與資源管理學系主任馮通教授在開幕禮上致歡迎辭。聖安德魯大學的Paul Boyle教授和加州大學洛杉磯分校的范芝芬教授為主題演講嘉賓。會議參與者一百五十人，來自三十六個國家和地區。會議分二十八節，共發表一百二十五篇論文。是次國際會議為聯合書院金禧院慶活動之一，聯合書院為本次會議贊助機構。會議其他贊助機構包括英國皇家地理學會/英國地理學家學會人口地理研究組、美國地理學會人口專業組和國際地理聯合會人口與弱勢社群委員會及香港中文大學崇基學院。 The Fourth International Conference on Population Geographies The Fourth International Conference on Population Geographies, organized by the Department of Geography and Resource Management, was held at the Esther Lee Building of the University on 10-13 July 2007. The Local Organizing Committee was chaired by Prof Jianfa Shen in the Department of Geography and Resource Management. Prof Paul Lee, Dean of Faculty of Social Science, and Prof Tung Fung, Chairman of Department of Geography and Resource Management, delivered welcome speeches at the opening session. Prof Paul Boyle of University of St Andrews and Prof Cindy Fan of University of California, Los Angeles made keynote presentations. The conference attracted 150 participants from 36 countries and regions. 125 papers were presented in 28 sessions. The conference was one of events for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the United College and was sponsored by the United College. Other sponsors included the Population Geography Research Group of Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers), the Population Specialty Group of Association of American Geographers, the Commission on Population and Vulnerability of International Geographical Union, and Chung Chi College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
二零零八至二零零九年度「到訪傑出學人」計劃接受報名 由書院基金會贊助的到訪傑出學人」計劃每年邀請國際知名學者到訪書院，進行為期兩周的學術交流活動。贊助項目包括到訪傑出學人及其隨行配偶的商務客位來回機票、食宿費及酬金港幣二萬元。至於訪問活動則由「到訪傑出學人」委員會及提名人其同商訂，一般包括兩次公開講座及與書院師生的學術交流活動。 二零零八至零九年度「到訪傑出學人」計劃現正公開接受各學系同人提名。提名人須填妥報名表格，連同被提名學人的履歷交所屬系主任加簽，於二零零七年十月卅一日或以前送達「到訪傑出學人」委員會秘書林偉源先生，查詢或索取提名表格請電2609 7598。
Nominations for the 2008/2009
Distinguished Visiting Scholar Open
Nominations are now invited from academic staff of United
College for the 2008/2009 Distinguished Visiting Scholar (DVS). The
nominees should be internationally renowned scholars in any field of study.
The DVS Scheme is sponsored by the College's Endowment Fund and offers a
$20,000 honorarium for the invited scholar plus round-trip business class
airfares and accommodation for the scholar and the accompanying spouse. The
detailed programme for the visit will be designed by the DVS Committee in
consultation with the nominator The invited scholar is expected to deliver
2 public lectures and take part in exchange activities with the staff and
students of the College. For further information or nomination forms, please feel free to contact Mr George Lam, Secretary of the DVS Committee at 2609 7598. The nominations, together with the nominee's full curricula vitae, should be endorsed by the chairpersons of the respective departments and addressed to Mr George Lam. Nominations will close on 31 October 2007.
