學生宿舍消息
本院學生宿舍將於二零零七年十二月三十一日(星期一)中午十二時至二零零八年一月四日(星期五)上午九時暫停開放，以便進行半年一度的清潔工作。為方便工作，請各宿生於十二月三十一日(星期一)中午十二時前離開宿舍，並避免放置物品於地上。非本地生如需於關閉期間繼續留宿，請於十二月十四日(星期五)前以書面通知舍監。只獲配上學期宿位的同學，請於本年十二月三十一日(星期一)中午十二時前到宿舍接待處辦理退宿手續。
Hostel News
All UC student hostels will be closed
from 12:00 noon on Monday, 31 December 2007 to 9:00 am on Friday, 4 January 2008
for the biannual cleaning operations. Residents are requested to leave the
hostels during this period and not to put their personal belongings on the
floor. Non-local students who wish to stay on during the said period must
notify their respective wardens in writing before Friday, 14 December 2007.
Students eligible for first term residence only should check-out of the hostels
by 12:00 noon on Monday, 31 December 2007.
語文改善計劃及促進雙語教學計劃 — 二零零八年春季課程
「語文改善計劃」及「促進雙語教學計劃」春季課程將於二零零八年一月七日至二十一日接受同學報名。同學除可報讀普通話及英語課程外，亦可報名參加將於二零零八年暑期舉行的多個不同的「外地語文及文化交流活動」及「語文學習營」。章程及報名表格可於二零零八年一月二日起於書院學生輔導處索取。

The Language Improvement Project and the Project for Promoting Bilingual Skills— Spring Programmes 2008
Applications for the Spring courses of the College's 2008 Language Improvement Project (LIP) and the Project for Promoting Bilingual Skills will open from 7 to 21 January 2008. Apart from the local Putonghua and English courses, non-local Language and Culture Programmes and language immersion camps will also be organized in Summer 2008. Interested students may collect the programme booklets and application forms from the Dean of Students' Office, UC from 2 January 2008.

書院通識教育諮詢委員會成立
為進一步強化書院通識教育課程的教與學質素，書院於院務委員會轄下成立書院通識教育諮詢委員會，職能主要是向書院提供意見，以保證通識課程及相關事務的質素。書院邀得中大校友評議會主席殷巧兒女士擔任委員會主席一職，成員包括香港生產力促進局總裁馮永業先生、明報出版社有限公司總編輯兼總經理潘耀明先生、林大輝中學校長吳奇壎先生及書院通識教育主任張雙慶教授。
Formation of the Advisory Board on College General Education
To enhance the teaching and learning
quality of the College General Education Programme, an Advisory Board on College
General Education was formed under the College Assembly of Fellows to advise and
make recommendations on quality assurance and other related matters. The College
has invited Ms Lina Yan, Chairperson of the CUHK Convocation, to chair the
Board, members included Mr Wilson Fung, Executive Director of the Hong Kong
Productivity Council, Mr Poon Yiu Ming, Chief Editor and General Manager of Ming
Pao Publications Limited, Mr Wu Kee Huen Kenneth, Principal of Lam Tai Fai
College, and Professor Chang Song Hing, Dean of General Education.
院長夜話
由書院學生會主辦的「院長夜話」於二零零七年十一月六日(星期二)晚上八時至十時於陳震夏宿舍十樓大堂舉行。院長馮國培教授與出席同學分享他對參與書院事務的感受及時間分配的心得。馮院長特別以「母親」來比喻書院對同學的照顧及關懷，他並談及書院未來的發展重點，其中包括增加宿位、交換計劃名額及經濟援助計劃等。
Head's Night Talk
Organized by the College Student Union, the College Head's Night Talk was held on Tuesday, 6 November 2007 from 8:00 to 10:00 pm at the 10/F Lobby, Chan Chun Ha Hostel. Professor Fung Kwok Pui, Head of United College shared his personal experience in time management and devotion in the College affairs with the students. Professor Fung figuratively used "mother" to illustrate the caring role of the College to her students, and also highlighted several key areas for future development, which included the increase of hostel places, exchange opportunities and financial assistance schemes.
二零零七至二零零八年度書院獎項
以下獎項已開始接受申請：
1)聯合書院社會工作系校友(1986)社會關懷獎 (新開設)
獎額一名，港幣五千元，由一群聯合書院一九八六年社工系畢業生捐贈。旨在鼓勵本院社工系同學發揚社會工作的專業精神，積極參與社會服務。申請者須由中大社會工作學系提名。
2)黃李碧恥紀念獎學金
獎額一名，港幣一萬元，由「李碧恥紀念基金」資助。旨在表揚在社會服務方面有傑出表現的社會工作學系同學。
3)聯合書院謝婉雯醫生紀念獎學金
獎額共三名，每名港幣一萬元。旨在鼓勵本院醫科生積極參與社會服務，熱心公益，以發揚謝婉雯校友在沙士期間熱心助人的無私精神。
4)書院傑出服務獎
獎額共六名，每名港幣一千元至一萬元。旨在獎勵於過去一年間在服務書院或推動書院活動方面表現傑出之同學。申請者須由書院行政人員提名。
5)院長創作獎
院長為提倡書院內之創作風氣及鼓勵同學個人或集體創作之興趣，特捐出「院長創作獎」一名，獎金為港幣一千五百元正。凡屬本院同學於過去一年內完成之學術論文、研究報告、文學創作、音樂作品、美術設計或科學發明等均可參加競逐。
以上各項獎項的截止申請日期為二零零八年一月二十一日。有關詳情及申請辦法，請參閱書院學生輔導處報告板、瀏覽書院網頁或逕向書院學生輔導處查詢。
College Awards 2007/2008
Applications are now invited for the following awards:
1)United College Social Work graduates (1986) — Caring for the Community Prize (NEW)
This Prize, in the amount of HK$5,000, was established through the donation from a group of United College Social Work graduates of 1986, to encourage more young students to recognize the values of social work profession in the betterment of society. The Prize will be awarded to one Social Work student who has attained outstanding performance in community services and recommended by the Department of Social Work, CUHK.
2)Mrs Eva Wong Memorial Scholarship
This Scholarship, in the amount of HK$10,000, was established through a donation from the "Eva Li Memorial Fund". The Scholarship will be awarded to one Social Work student who has attained outstanding performance in community services.
3)United College Dr Tse Yuen Man Memorial Scholarships
Three scholarships, HK$10,000 each, were established to encourage more young medical students to continue the vision of Dr Tse Yuen Man, a graduate of United College and a great fighter against SARS, in utilizing her knowledge to cure suffering and save lives.
4)Distinguished College Service Awards
There will be six awards ranging from HK$1,000 to HK$10,000. The prizes will be awarded to students having demonstrated outstanding development in academic and extra-curricular activities as well as of significant contributions to College or campus life in the year 2007. Candidates for these awards are nominated by staff of the College.
5)Head of College Creativity Prize
The Head of College Creativity Prize has been established to promote student interest in creative projects. A cash prize of HK1,500 will be awarded to a student or a group of students who has demonstrated good creativity in an academic paper, research report, literary or musical composition, work of art or scientific invention completed within the last 12 months.
The application deadline for the above awards is 21 January 2008. For further details, please refer to the announcements on the College notice-boards, the College website or enquire at the Dean of Students' Office, UC.
聯合校友及同學參與日本化妝品學生廣告創作比賽獲獎
本院郭譽豪校友(07/訊工)、梁譽同學(訊工三年級)及隊友憑廣告作品《少女的煩惱》，參加日本男性化妝品廣告製作大賽，從二百三十六個來自港日韓三地學生作品中獲勝，奪得「流動短片獎」。

UC members won Student Creative Commercial Competition of Japanese Cosmetic Company
UC alumnus, Mr Kwok Yue Ho (07/IEE), UC student, Mr Leung Yue (IEE Year 3) and their teammates, won an award in a Creative Commercial Competition of Japanese Cosmetic Company, competing with 236 submissions from Hong Kong, Japan and Korea.
Our warmest congratulations to Mr Kwok, Mr Leung and his teammates!
聯合劇社於中大四院劇賽獲「後台英雄獎」
本年度的中大四院劇賽已於十一月十四日及十五日假邵逸夫堂舉行，聯合劇社於十一月十四日晚演出《偏偏喜歡你》，結果憑此劇獲頒「後台英雄奬」。書院謹向《偏偏喜歡你》一劇的台前幕後成員，致以衷心祝賀！
Drama Club Won Backstage Heroes Award in the Inter-Collegiate Drama Competition
The Inter-Collegiate Drama Competition of this year had been held on 14 and 15 November 2007 at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The UC Drama Club won the Backstage Heroes Award with the entry "A Crush on You" staged on 14 November. Our heartiest congratulations to the whole team of "A Crush on You" and the College Drama Society!
書院「駐院藝術家」- 雙人舞及接觸即興之夜
為了提高校園的文化藝術氣氛和舞蹈欣賞能力，書院「駐院藝術家」城市當代舞蹈團於二零零七年十一月八日於湯若望宿舍禮堂舉行了「雙人舞及接觸即興之夜」。是次活動由三位來自城市當代舞蹈團的導師任舞蹈指導及示範表演。
參加的同學首先做了一輪熱身運動，然後向導師學習接觸即興的舞蹈演繹方式，最後大家更有機會作親身練習和討論。
UC Artist-in-Residence — Partnering Skills and Improvisation
To cultivate the art and cultural interests of staff and students, the UC Artists-in-Residence, City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC), conducted the Partnering Skills and Improvisation at Hall of Adam Schall Residence on 8 November 2007. Three professional dancers from CCDC instructed and demonstrated the technique of improvisation dance.
All participants had warm up exercises before they learnt the technique of improvisation dance. All partcipants had chances to practice and discuss with the dancers. It was a wonderful night!
考試期間送贈生果
書院學生飯堂於考試期間(十二月五日至二十一日)，送贈新鮮生果給同學，為同學打氣，費用悉數由書院資助。
Fresh Fruit for UC Students
Sponsored by the College, the College Student Canteen will supply free fresh fruit to students during the examination period form 5 to 21 December 2007.
