書院成員大學保健處處長方玉輝醫生獲委任為沙田區議會衛生及環境委員會主席，任期四年，由二零零八年一月一日起生效。

　

書院成員社會工作學系講座教授兼系主任鄧廣良教授獲香港特別行政區政府中央政策組委任為兼任委員，任期由二零零八年一月一日開始。

 

 

　

Community Services

 

College Member, Dr Fong Yuk Fai Ben, Director of University Health Service, was appointed as the Chairman, Health and Environment Committee of Sha Tin District for four years, with effect from 1 January 2008.

　

College Member, Professor Tang Kwong Leung, Professor of Social Work and Chairman of the Department, was appointed as Part-time Member of the Central Policy Unit of the HKSAR Government, with effect from 1 January 2008.

本院成員榮獲韓亞銀行優秀論文獎

　

本院財務學系王叢教授於二零零七年十二月在韓國舉辦的第二屆亞太金融市場國際學術研討會上獲頒韓亞銀行優秀論文獎。王教授的論文「雙種股票公司的代理問題」發現當經理人的控股權超過現金流量權時，經理人更容易將公司的資源用於個人利益的最大化，而不是股東利益的最大化。這項獎項由韓亞銀行和韓國證券業協會共同設立。

 

　

College Member Won the Hana Bank Outstanding Paper Award

　

College Member, Professor Cong Wang from Department of Finance, won the Hana Bank Outstanding Paper Award at the Second International Conference on Asia-Pacific Financial Markets in South Korea in December 2007. Professor Wang's paper, "Agency problems at dual-class companies," shows that managers with greater control rights in excess of cash-flow rights are prone to waste corporate resources to pursue private benefits at the expense of shareholders. The award was co-sponsored by South Korean Hana Bank and Korean Securities Association.

由院長宴請所有聯合通識教育課程老師的周年午餐會已於二零零八年一月十八在文怡閣舉行。出席者除書院同事外，亦包括友院及大學單位同仁。書院通識教育課程得各同仁襄助，謹致衷心謝意。

　

Luncheon for GEU Teachers

　

The College Head hosted an annual luncheon in honour of all teachers of the College General Education Programme on 18 January 2008 at the College Staff Common Room.  In addition to College members, staff from sister Colleges and central units also attended the function.  Our heartfelt thanks for their invaluable assistance to the GEU Programme.
