聯合書院「師生共膳計劃」

　

為了加強院內師生的聯繫，聯合書院於二零零六年起推出「聯合書院師生共膳計劃」。 計劃以學院作為單位，鼓勵不同學院的老師和同學，透過出席於聯合書院飯堂舉行的晚宴，加強彼此溝通，亦加深對書院的認識。此計劃是書院非形式教育的一部份。

 

本年度第四次的「師生共膳計劃」詳情如下:

日期:  二零零八年三月十七日 (星期一)

時間:  晚上六時三十分

地點: 書院學生飯堂

學院: 社會科學院及法律學院

餐費: 免費(學生需繳交二十元出席保證金，於晚宴後退回)

 

書院並邀得書院導師盧德溪先生以「潛水樂趣」為題於晚宴上作短講。

"United College Dinner"

 

The United College Dinner was first launched in 2006 and its main objective is to facilitate more interactions between the College staff and students outside class.  It is a part of the College non-formal education.  The fourth gathering of this year will be held on 17 March 2008 and the details are as follows:

Time:              6:30 pm

Venue:            United College Student Canteen

Faculty:           Faculty of Social Science & School of Law

Dinner Fee:    Free (HK$20 attendance deposit per student)

 

Mr Lo Tak Kai, College Tutor, will also give a talk during the dinner on the topic of "The Wonderful World Under Sea".

二零零八至零九年度書院通識教育課程GEU4011【專題討論】課程預選及編班事宜

 

GEU4011【專題討論】乃本院畢業班學生必修之通識課程，院方現正進行該課程二零零八至零九年度之預選及編班工作。

 

凡屬該年度畢業之本院各系同學（醫科生除外）須於二零零八年二月四日至二十二日前自行組成四人小組，並由小組組長將組員資料呈報於http://mmlab.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/ucgeu/。小組成員須最少來自兩院四系，每學院最多兩名成員，理想的組合為四院四系，倘未依規定自行組成四人小組者，亦須於上述日期前將個人或現有的組員資料呈報，俾便院方代為編組，逾期而沒有合理解釋者將受成績降級的處分。

 

為方便同學了解修讀安排及解答疑問，通識教育辦公室將於二零零八年二月十九日(星期二)下午六時三十分假聯合書院鄭棟材樓C1講室舉行簡報會，歡迎各小組全體成員或派代表出席。

 

如因事未能於最後修業年上學期報修此科，同學或不能如期畢業。請將會參加交換計劃、工讀計劃及因事而須提前或延後修讀此課程的同學特別注意。查詢請致電2609 7582與書院學生輔導處吳寶珊女士聯絡。



　

GEU4011 Pre-course Registration and Class Arrangements in 2008-09

　

GEU4011 is a compulsory 3-unit student-oriented teaching course for all United College final year students, offered in the first term of 2008-09. The pre-course registration work now begins.

　

All students graduating in 2008-09 should take this course, except for Medical students, as they will take GEU4011Y in their third year of study organized by the Faculty Office, Faculty of Medicine. Pre-course registration of Medical students will be announced to their year-two students by the Faculty Office.

　

Students should form a group of 4 students on their own.  The best combination is to have 4 students from different Faculties, and the minimum requirement is at most 2 students from one Faculty, with different majors.  The group leader will be responsible to input the group information via the web-based system at http://mmlab.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/ucgeu/ from 4 to 22 February 2008 .  For those students who are not able to form the group, please also submit the most updated information to the system before the deadline.  Late submissions will be subject to penalties.

　

To let students have better understanding of the course, a briefing session will be held on Tuesday, 19 February 2008 at 6:30 pm at UCC1, T C Cheng Building.  All enrolled students are welcome.

《藝術中與西》工作坊

 

聯合書院二零零七至零八年度駐校藝術家利漢楨教授將於二零零八年三月訪問書院，期間將與中大藝術系兼任講師張惠儀博士合作，開辦《藝術中與西》工作坊。工作坊分中國藝術及西方藝術兩部分，先由張博士主持有關中國玉器、青銅器、瓷器及書畫等藝術作品的專題講座，再由利教授介紹西方名家的雕刻、繪畫及陶瓷藝術，參加者更可在利教授指導下，親身體驗浮雕版畫創作的興味。工作坊由三月五日起，逢星期三晚上七時至九時半，在聯合書院曾肇添樓地下103室進行。

三月五日             遙遠的神權世代：新石器時代玉器與商 周青銅器

三月十二日         泥土的淡抹濃妝：宋元明清瓷器藝術

三月十九日         “怪”的藝術：揚州八怪的書畫

三月二十六日    J. Arp 與 H. Moore 等之雕刻藝術暨介 紹浮雕版畫

四月二日            P. Soulages 與 F. Kline 等之繪畫藝術 暨示範浮雕版畫工具之製作

四月九日            B. Leach 及其弟子之陶瓷藝術暨浮雕版 畫之創作嘗試

"Art East and West" Workshop

　

Professor Lee Hon Ching, Artist-in-Residence of United College in 2007-08, will visit the College in March 2008.  During his visit, Professor Lee will join hands with Dr Cheung Wai Yee, Part-time Lecturer, Department of Fine Arts, CUHK, to offer a workshop entitled "Art East and West".  Divided into two main streams in Chinese and Western Art, these six workshops will be conducted in Cantonese, and the contents will touch on the similarities and differences between art of the East and the recent West.  Participants will also have hands-on chances to make tools and relief prints.  The workshops will begin from 5 March 2008 and held for six consecutive weeks on every Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm at Room 103, Tsang Shiu Tim Building, United College.

　

The topics of the Workshop include:

5 March       The Supernatural World in the Ancient Time: Jades in the Neolithic Period and Bronze of Shang and Zhou Dynasties

12 March     The Gracefulness of Earth: Ceramics of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing

19 March     The Art of Eccentricity: The Painting and Calligraphy of the Yangzhou Artists

26 March     The Art of J. Arp, H. Moore and others /Introduction of relief printmaking

2 April          The Art of P. Soulages, F. Kline and others /Demonstration of tool making for relief prints

9 April          The Art of B. Leach and his followers Relief printmaking

UC Student and Alumni Won Champion of the CUHK VC Cup – Student Entrepreneurialship Competition

　

UC Student, Ms Ng Ying Yee (PAC/2), UC Alumna Ms Hou Wen Ting (SEM/07) and three group members developed a stock investment system and won the champion of the CUHK VC Cup-Student Entreprenurialship Competition.

山東大學萌芽學者到訪書院

　

山東大學萌芽學者學術交流團現正訪問聯合書院，與本院合辦萌芽學者學術交流計劃。該校的萌芽學者於二月十四日在書院公開發表題為「關於社區教化與社區矯正等問題」的研究報告。此外，為了加深交流團對香港及本地感化工作的了解，交流團亦到訪不同的政府機構及組織，包括廉政公署、社會福利署、高等法院、香港善導會、立法會及歷史博物館等。


　

Budding Scholars from Shandong University

　

A delegation from Shandong University is now visiting the College under the College Budding Scholars Exchange Programme.  The students from Shandong University conducted a presentation on 14 February on the topic of "The Problems Confronting Community Correction".  Apart from presenting their research results, the delegation will also visit different government offices and organizations such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Social Welfare Department, High Court and the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention to know more about social rehabilitation in Hong Kong.


　

聯合書院創意學生活動獎勵計劃接受申請

　

聯合書院為鼓勵同學籌辦具創意的活動，特設「創意學生活動獎」供本院同學或學生團體申請。計劃目的在於鼓勵學生或學生團體籌辦優質活動；提高學生及學生組織的積極性；及推動學生積極投入校園生活。

　

是項計劃現正公開接受申請。歡迎聯合書院學生會認可的學生團體或本院同學以個人或小組名義申請。申請表格及計劃書可於二零零八年三月十四日(星期五)或以前向書院學生輔導處遞交。

　

每年計劃總獎額達港幣六萬元，得獎人或單位將獲得資助，作為籌辦該項活動的經費。開支實報實銷，得獎個人或團體須向書院呈交活動及財政報告。本計劃由聯合書院鄭棟材博士紀念基金資助，申請表格可於書院學生輔導處索取或於書院網頁下載，查詢請電2609 7570 與書院學生輔導處林偉源先生或何惠芬女士聯絡。 

　

UC Creative Student Activity Award Programme Now Opens for Application

　

To encourage students to organize new or creative activities, the College has established the Creative Student Activity Award Programme since 2002.  The aims of the programmes are: 1) to encourage students or student bodies to organize quality activities; 2) to encourage students / student bodies to be more active in organizing activities; and 3) to promote students' participation in College life. 

　

The Programme for 2008 is now open for application. Students of United College or student organizations registered with the United College Student Union are eligible to apply. Interested parties should submit the applications and activity proposals to the Dean of Students' Office on or before Friday, 14 March 2008.

　

The annual award amounts to HK$60,000, and the winning students or organization(s) will be subsidized according to their programme proposals.  Detailed activity and financial reports must be submitted to the College upon completion of the programme.  This award programme is supported by the United College T C Cheng Memorial Fund.  Application forms are available at the Dean of Students' Office or from the College homepage.  For further information contact Mr George Lam or Ms Kitty Ho at 2609 7570.

United College Summer English and Putonghua Camps are now open for application. The details are as follows:

聯合同學周安麗(工管/2)榮獲社會福利署頒發二零零七至零八年度香港傑出青年義工獎。另周同學亦獲頒由香港房屋委員會舉辦的「慶回歸 — 十載情繫天水圍」攝影比賽優異獎。

UC Student won the Hong Kong Outstanding Youth Volunteers Award 2007/08


Miss Chow On Lai Edna (BBA/2) was awarded with the Hong Kong Outstanding Youth Volunteers Award 2007-08 by Social Welfare Department. Ms Chow also was awarded the outstanding award in "My Fond Impression of Tin Shui Wai" Photo Contest organized by the Hong Kong Housing Authority.

梁鶴年留學獎學金

獎額一名，港幣十二萬元，資助本院畢業生前往海外著名學府繼續升學。凡修讀為人類造益的課程並承諾於學成後回港服務之申請人將被優先考慮。

　

邵逸夫爵士留學獎學金

獎額一至兩名，合共港幣四萬元，資助本院應屆畢業生前往海外著名學府繼續升學。

　

鄭棟材研究獎學金

獎額一至兩名，合共港幣五萬元，資助本院畢業生在本港或海外著名學府繼續升學。申請人年齡須少於二十六歲。

　

二. 二零零七/二零零八書院體育運動獎

　

書院本年度設有體育運動獎二十九名，每名港幣一千元至一萬元，頒予在體育活動方面有傑出表現之聯合同學。申請者須由書院體育部提名。

Applications are now invited for the following scholarships:

　

A. Postgraduate Scholarships 2008/2009

　

S. Leung Postgraduate Scholarship

This scholarship, in the amount of HK$120,000, is awarded to graduates of United College to pursue full-time postgraduate programme in reputable overseas educational institution. Preference will be given to those students who plan to pursue a higher degree in human-service-related discipline. Students indicating willingness to return to Hong Kong after studies overseas will have a distinct advantage.

　

Sir Run Run Shaw Postgraduate Scholarship(s)

One to two scholarships, in a total amount of HK$40,000, will be awarded to fresh graduates of United College to start off their first year of postgraduate studies at recognized overseas universities.

　

TC Cheng Postgraduate Scholarship(s)

One to two scholarships, in a total amount of HK$50,000, will be awarded to graduates of United College to pursue postgraduate studies at recognized universities in Hong Kong or abroad. Applicants are preferably under 26 years of age.

　

B. College Athletic Awards 2007/2008

　

United College will be offering a total of 29 athletic awards,   ranging in value from HK $1,000 to HK$10,000, for the year 2007/2008. These prizes are to be awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional athletic and sports abilities or who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities during the year.  Applications and/or nominations should be made through the College's  Physical Education Unit.
