國際學術研討會 ── 不受歡迎設施選址

由聯合書院贊助，一連三天的「不受歡迎設施選址」研討會於二零零七年十二月十二至十四日假大學利黃瑤碧樓舉行，超過一百三十位本地及海外專家參與。會議邀請社會科學院院長李少南教授及香港發展局局長林鄭月娥太平紳士致開幕詞。四位主講嘉賓包括美國賓夕法尼亞大學Professor Howard Kunreuther、澳洲詹姆士庫克大學Professor S Hayden Lesbirel、台灣國立臺北大學丘昌泰教授及台灣中華經濟研究院院長蕭代基教授。會議討論「寧避」現象在香港及其他地區出現的因由和探究分解相關衝突的戰略。 

International Conference on ''Siting of Locally Unwanted Facilities''

Sponsored by United College, over 130 local and overseas participants attended a 3-day International Conference on ''Siting of Locally Unwanted Facilities'' at Esther Lee Building of The Chinese University of Hong Kong during 12 – 14 December 2007. The conference began with the opening addresses delivered by Professor Paul Lee, Dean of Social Science, and The Hon. Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet Ngor, JP, Secretary for Development of the Hong Kong SAR Government. The keynote speakers included Professor Howard Kunreuther of University of Pennsylvania, USA; Professor S Hayden Lesbirel of James Cook University, Australia, Professor Chiou Chang Tay of the National Taipei University, Taiwan and Professor Daigee Shaw of Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, Taiwan. The conference discussed the emergence of NIMBYism in Hong Kong and other areas and explored strategies to resolve related conflicts.
