二零零八年周年研討會 －「雙城記 ── 香港與澳門的發展比較」

聯合書院二零零八年度周年研討會已於三月七日假聯合書院鄭棟材樓C1講室舉行，近二百師生、校友及嘉賓出席。今年的研討會主題為「雙城記–香港與澳門的發展比較」。出席研討會的嘉賓包括澳門基金會行政委員會委員吳志良博士，香港展覽會議業協會常務副會長張偉雄先生，澳門特別行政區立法會議員吳國昌先生，前香港歷史博物館總館長、香港中文大學歷史系名譽高級研究員丁新豹博士。香港中文大學政治與行政學系講師、聯合書院導師黃鉅鴻先生為當日大會主持。為增加書院師生對研討會專題的認識及興趣，書院與大學圖書館系統亦於二零零八年三月七日至二十日假聯合書院胡忠多媒體圖書館二樓合辦「香港及澳門歷史與文化書刊展」。

2008 Annual Workshop －"A Tale of Two Cities: Developments of Hong Kong and Macau Compared"

The 2008 Annual Workshop of United College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong was held on 7 March 2008 at the C1 Lecture Theatre of T C Cheng Building, United College.  The topic of this year's Workshop is "A Tale of Two Cities: Developments of Hong Kong and Macau Compared".  Speakers of the Workshop included Dr Wu Zhiliang, Member of the Macau Foundation, Macau Special Administrative Region; Mr Daniel Cheung, Executive Vice Chairman, Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association; Mr Ng Kwok Cheong, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Macau Special Administrative Region and Dr Joseph Ting, Former Chief Curator, Hong Kong Museum of History and Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Department of History, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.  Mr Jeremiah Wong, Lecturer of the Department of Government and Public Administration and College Tutor, The Chinese University of Hong Kong was the moderator of the Workshop.  The Workshop was well attended by about 200 guests, staff and students of the College. To arouse the staff and students’ interest on the topic of the Annual Workshop, the College and the University Library System organized an Exhibition on Historical and Cultural Publications of Hong Kong and Macau from 7 to 20 March 2008 at 2/F, Wu Chung Multimedia Library, United College . 

第三屆書院馮國培院長盃

第三屆聯合書院馮國培院長盃由水運會和陸運會作序幕後，隨後一連串的球類比賽已於二零零八年一月開始舉行。該項大型運動比賽是由聯合書院四個宿生會及兩個走讀生舍堂間之比賽，項目包括男子籃球、女子三人籃球、足球、排球、羽毛球、乒乓球和網球。經過多番熱烈的比賽後，今屆總冠軍由恆生樓以56分衛冕成功。各項比賽成績如下：

另外，書院於二零零八年三月八日舉行「第三屆聯合書院馮國培院長盃」頒獎禮，多位教職員、校友及各項院長盃冠軍隊隊員在聯合運動場地舉行球類表演賽。各師生及校友均投入比賽，氣氛激烈。表演賽成績如下：

The 3rd United College Head's Cup － Fung Kwok Pui Cup

Following the Athletic Meet and Swimming Gala, a series of ball games of the 3rd United College Head's Cup – Fung Kwok Pui Cup have been conducted from January 2008. The Cup is a competition involving 4 student hostels and 2 non-residential halls. Events of the Cup included basketball (male) and 3-on-3 basketball (female), soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and tennis. After a series of keen competition, Hang Seng Hall won the championship of the cup with 56 points.

The prize presentation of the Cup was conducted on 8 March 2008.  Friendly-matches involving staff of tee College, Alumni and winner of individual events were also organized. The results of the matches are:

書院「院長講座系列 ──  陳天機院長講座」

二零零八年三月二十八日，書院假大學邵逸夫堂舉行了「陳天機院長講座」，以表揚第五任院長陳天機教授的貢獻。陳天機教授於一九八零至一九八八年任書院院長，建樹良多。

書院非常榮幸邀得陳天機院長親自主講是次講座。陳院長的講題為「試說人生路」，以四點為演講大綱：自由意志、雜家的天網、進取的人生、目的與手段。

演講引述了古今中外的理論和具體例子，引發同學對「人生路」的反思，鼓勵同學開放自己的好奇心和自由意志，認清和確定人生的目的和手段。

合共一千三百多位同學和嘉賓出席是次講座，反應熱烈。馮國培院長代表書院致送紀念品予陳天機教授。書院於講座後在文怡閣設午宴，款待陳天機院長伉儷及各位來賓。

Heads of College Lecture Series — Professor T C Chen Lecture

In appreciation of the great contribution of Former College Head Professor T C Chen, the "Professor T C Chen Lecture" was held at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall of the University in the on 28 March 2008.  Professor Chen is the 5th College Head serving his headship in the years of 1980-1988.

The College was honoured to have Professor T C Chen speaking to the audience for the Lecture. The lecture topic of Professor Chen was "The Path to be Taken". A number of important theories and examples were being quoted by Professor Chen, to stimulate students' thought in their path of life.  Students were encouraged to open their curiosity and free-mind and to find their own means and ends in life.

The Lecture was well-received by over 1,300 students and fifty guests.  A souvenir was presented to Professor T C Chen by Professor Fung Kwok Pui, College Head, on behalf of the College. A Lunch Reception was held at the College Staff Common Room in honour of Prefessor and Mrs T C Chen, after the Lecture.

「藝術人生 ── 利漢楨版畫與雕塑展」

由香港中文大學聯合書院及文物館合辦的「藝術人生－利漢楨版畫與雕塑展」已於二零零八年四月三日正式開幕。

是日蒙聯合書院二零零七至零八年度駐校藝術家利漢楨教授、文物館館長林業強教授、院長馮國培教授、前任院長陳天機教授、書院校董馮慶鏘先生及著名版畫家梅創基先生蒞臨主禮，並蒙多位校外嘉賓、校友、大學及書院同仁等撥冗親臨觀禮，場面熱鬧。

是次展覽於即日起至四月二十九日於大學圖書館展覽廰，歡迎大學同仁及公衆人士到臨參觀。如有查詢，請致電2609 7455或 2696 1844與本院楊頌妍女士或石曉風女士聯絡。

Exhibition of  "Art Through My Ages — Prints and Sculpture by Hon-ching Lee"

The exhibition titled "Art Through My Ages – Prints and Sculpture by Hon-ching Lee" was officially opened on 3 April 2008. The exhibition is co-organized by United College and Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Professor Hon-ching Lee, Artist-in-Residence 2007-08, United College; Professor Peter Lam, Director of Art Museum; Professor Fung Kwok Pui, College Head;  Professor Chen Tien Chi, former College Head; Mr Kenneth H C Fung, College Trustee and Mr Mui Chong Ki, prominent artist, officiated at the opening ceremony. Attending the ceremony were officers of the University, alumni as well as other guests.
