College Member, Professor Helene Fung from Department of Psychology, won the Exemplary Teaching Award of Faculty of Social Science 2007. Our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Fung!

本院成員榮膺裘槎基金會優秀科研者

本院成員化學系成公明教授獲頒授裘槎基金會二零零八至零九年度「優秀科研者獎」，以表彰他在國際科學界的卓越成就。

成教授是合成有機化學的專家，他的研究重點是行用幾乎供應無虞的糖（如葡萄糖）作為原料，發展嶄新方法來合成可用於化療（用以治療癌症、抗病毒和醫治糖尿病）的有機分子。

College Member Named the Croucher Senior Research Fellow

College member, Professor Tony Shing from Department of Chemistry, was awarded Senior Research Fellowship 2008/09 by the Croucher Foundation.

As an internationally renowned expert in organic synthesis, Professor Shing's research interest is on the development of novel methods for the syntheses of organic molecules with chemotherapeutic potential, namely, anti-cancer, anti-viral, or anti-diabetic activities, using sugars as starting materials.

本院成員獲最佳職安健研究獎

本院的公共衞生學院和社區及家庭醫學系余德新教授及職業醫生碩士生謝伯耀醫生所進行的研究項目「入職前以問卷形式為主的醫學評估對預測工人是否適宜佩帶N95呼叫器有沒有幫助？」獲得職業安全局的「二零零六至零七年度最佳職安健研究獎」。

College Member Won the Best Project Award of the Occupational Safety and Health Council

College Member, Professor Ignatius Yu from School of Public Health and Department of Community and Family Medicine and Dr Ste Pak Yiu, master student in Occupational Medicine conducted a research on “Is Preplacement Questionnaires-based Medical Evaluation Useful in Predicting Worker's Tolerance to N95 Respirators?” and this research won the Best Project Award 2006-07 of the Occupational Safety and Health Council.

本院成員物理系黃景揚教授獲委任為光科技研究所副主任及光科技研究所光電子研究中心副主任，任期由二零零七年十月二十二日至二零零九年七月三十一日。

Concurrent Appointment

College Member, Professor Wong King Young from Department of Physics, was concurrently appointed as Associate Director, Institute of Optical Science and Technology and Associate Director, Centre for Advanced Research in Photonics, Institute of Optical Science and Technology, from 22 October 2007 to 31 July 2009.

社會服務 

書院成員公共衛生學院和社區及家庭醫學系余德新教授獲委任為肺塵埃沉著病補償基金委員會會委員，任期兩年，由二零零八年一月一日起生效。

Community Service

College member, Professor Ignatius Yu from School of Public Health and the Department of Community and Family Medicine, was appointed as the Board Member of The Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board for two years, with effect from 1 January 2008.
