聯合書院邁進地球村計劃

2009至10年度之聯合書院交換計劃現已開始接受申請，有關計劃詳情及申請辦法，請參閱輔導處佈告板、瀏覽書院網頁或親往輔導處查詢。截止申請日期為2008年11月3日。有關計劃分別為：

- 南澳大學交換計劃
- 芬蘭奧倫大學交換計劃
- 日本創價大學交換計劃
- 韓國成均館大學校交換計劃
- 美國威廉士大學交換計劃

書院另將於10月24日上午11時30分於鄭棟材樓C1講室舉行本年度交換計劃簡介會，曾參與書院交換計劃的同學亦將於會上與同學們分享海外交流的經驗。就以上計劃及簡介會的查詢，可致電2609 7580與學生輔導處鄭佩純女士聯絡。

The United College Globe-Oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme

Applications are now open for the following College Overseas Exchange Programmes tenable in 2009/10 academic year. For further details, please refer to the College notice boards, visit the College homepage or the Dean of Students' Office. The closing date for applications is 3 November 2008. The programmes are :

- Exchange Programme with University of South Australia, Australia
- Exchange Programme with University of Oulu, Finland
- Exchange Programme with Soka University, Japan
- Exchange Programme with Sung Kyun Kwan University Korea, Korea
- Exchange Programme with Williams College (Williams Scholarship)

The College will organise a Briefing Session on College Exchange Programmes on 24 October 2008 at 11:30am at C1, T C Cheng Building. Returning exchange students of the College will also attend the Session to share their overseas experience with the College students. 童軍領袖訓練工作坊

書院與香港童軍總會合作，於本學年推出四個工作坊，供學生參加。活動目標旨在讓同學體驗旅團生活的樂趣，並培養同學成為未來的社會服務型領袖。

工作坊包括：

1) 繩結/營藝/生火/原野烹飪/露營
2) 水上活動(標準艇)
3) 童軍大會操
4) 指南針及地圖應用/遠足/野外定向

Scout Leader Training Workshops

The College and the Hong Kong Scout Association jointly introduce four workshops in this academic year, which aims at providing an experience of Scout way and training of social leaders.

Workshops include:

1) Knotting / Camp craft / Backwoods Cooking / Camping
2) Sea Activity (Standard Boat)
3) Scout Rally
4) Usage of compass / Map Reading / Expedition / Orienteering

香港國際演講會K3分區幽默演講比賽

聯合書院國際演講會會長禢柏衡同學(英文二年級)參與香港國際演講會K3分區幽默演講比賽，獲得季軍。此乃聯合書院國際演講會自2005年成立以來，首次奪得獎項。

Humourous Speech Contest of Toastmasters Club Hong Kong Area K3

Mr Antony P H Huen, President of United College Toastmasters Club (ENG/2) won the 2nd runner up of the Humourous Speech Contest of Toastmasters Club Hong Kong Area K3. This is the first time that the club member wins an award from contests, ever since its charter on 2005.

聯合書院師生共膳計劃

為了加強院內師生的聯繫，聯合書院於2006年起推出「聯合書院師生共膳計劃」。計劃以學院作為單位，鼓勵不同學院的老師和同學，透過出席於聯合書院飯堂舉行的晚宴，加強彼此溝通，亦加深對書院的認識。此計劃是書院非形式教育的一部份。

本年度第一次的「師生共膳計劃」詳情如下:

地點: 書院學生飯堂
學院: 醫學院及工商管理學院
餐費: 免費(學生需繳交二十元出席保證金於晚宴後退回)

書院並邀請了香港天文論壇壇主黃隆先生以「天文望遠鏡」為題於晚宴上作短講。

United College Dinner

The United College Dinner was first launched in 2006 and its main objective is to facilitate more interactions between the College staff and students outside class. It is a part of the College's non-formal education. The first gathering of this year will be held on 3 November 2008 and the details are as below:

Time: 6:30 pm
Venue: United College Student Canteen
Faculty: Faculty of Medicine & Faculty of Business Administration
Dinner Fee: Free (HK$20 attendance deposit per student)

Mr Wong Lung, Forum Administrator of Hong Kong Astro (Astronomy) Forum will also give a talk during the dinner on the topic of "Astronomical Telescope". Students of the Faculties of Medicine and Business Administration please register in person at the College Dean of Students' Office before 29 October 2008. 學生生活約章及德育活動

德育推廣是書院於本學年的其中一項學生發展重點。聯合書院身心健康工作小組是以學生為主要骨幹的組織，經過半年時間計劃和籌備，小組將於未來推出不同形式的宣傳活動，致力協助同學成為才德兼備的新一代大學生。這些活動獲書院岑維休先生德育活動計劃資助，率先推出的是學生生活約章，為隆重其事，書院特別在

9月19日舉行的書院聚會中，安排一個約章簽署儀式，在嘉賓岑才生校董、殷巧兒校友、馮燊均先生伉儷、院長馮國培教授及書院輔導長王香生教授的見證下，由工作小組、學生會及六舍堂代表於台上簽署約章。學生在當日或以後，可登入www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/studentcharter，於網上簽署一份屬於自己的約章。

除學生生活約章外，小組亦設計了一套五款的書籤及八達通套，送給書院同學。書籤及咭套亦於9月19日的書院聚會中首次派發，而一些特別製作的磁石貼亦已交書院學生宿舍及走讀生舍堂使用。書籤及磁石貼均印有一些與德育相關的句語，提醒學生一些良好的態度和行為。

書院鼓勵同學以行動支持學生生活約章簽署活動。此項目現已列入書院馮燊均先生全人發展獎勵計劃的認可活動之內 (www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson ) 。如有查詢，請致電2609 7570與學生輔導處聯絡。

Student Life Charter and Moral Education Activities

Moral education is one of the key student development foci of the College in 2008-09. Formed mainly by student representatives, the Taskforce on Students' Well-being worked over half a year to plan various activities which have been launched to promote moral education and enhance the well-being of our students. The first activity, the Student Life Charter Signing Ceremony, was held at the College Assembly on 19 September. Mr Shum Choi-sang, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ms Lina Yan, Trustee and Advisor of United College Alumni Association, Mr and Mrs Fung Sun-kwan, Prof Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, and Prof Stephen Wong, Dean of Students, officiated at the signing of the Charter by student members of the Taskforce and representatives of the Student Union, the hostel residents' association and non-residential halls.

The Taskforce also produced a 5-piece bookmark set, an octopus cardholder, and magnetic stickers, imprinted with mottos to remind students of right attitudes and good behaviours. They were distributed to students at the College Assembly and to student hostels and non-residential halls.

The charter has been listed as a recognised activity of the United College Mr Fung Sun Kwan Whole Person Development Award Programme (www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson). 聯合書院國際演講會

聯合書院國際演講會已於2008年9月18日假曾肇添樓三樓三一二室舉行交職典禮，當晚蒙書院院長馮國培教授致及國際演講會香港分區主席譚建輝先生致賀辭，書院輔導長王香生教授、院務主任李雷寶玲女士及演講會榮譽顧問慧凱倫教授亦到場見證交職儀式。現時合共有四十五位聯合同學註冊成為會員。

United College Toastmasters Club

The Inauguration Ceremony of United College Toastmasters Club (UCTMC) was held on 18 September 2008 at Room 312, 3/F Tsang Shiu Tim Building. Professor Fung Kwok Pui, College Head and Mr K F Tam, Division K Governor, Toastmasters International Hong Kong delivered their congratulatory messages in the ceremony. Professor Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students, Mrs Christina Li, College Secretary and Professor Helen Wise, Honorary Advisor of UCTMC witnessed the Ceremony. 45 United College students registered as members of the club this year.

書院粵語辯論隊正式成立

書院本年度的粵語辯論員招募工作經已完成，十二位同學脫穎而出，通過嚴格的面試，成功加入辯論隊，書院謹致熱烈祝賀。辯論隊成員如下：

2008至09年度聯合書院岑才生學長計劃

書院已於2008年9月公佈本年度聯合書院岑才生學長計劃學員遴選結果。這項計劃是由聯合書院與書院校友會合辦，旨在提供機會讓校友學長與在校同學互相交流和分享人生經驗。為使各參加者清楚了解此計劃的詳情，學長計劃統籌委員於2008年10月9日及15日，分別舉行學長及學員簡佈會，而迎新晚會將於2008年11月4日假富豪九龍酒店舉行。

UC Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme 2008-09

The selection result of UC Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme 2008-09 was released in September 2008. This Programme, jointly organised by the United College and the UC Alumni Association, aims to create close supportive mentoring relationships between alumni of United College and its undergraduates over a period of one year. In order to enable all participants to have a better understanding of the objectives and activities of the Programme, the Programme Coordinating Committee organised two briefing sessions for the mentors and mentees in October. The Inauguration Dinner will be held on 4 November 2008 at the Regal Kowloon Hotel.

聯合書院第三十五屆水運會

本年度水運會已於2008年9月25日晚上舉行。書院六所舍堂共有一百五十多位同學參加比賽，破了歷年參賽人數紀錄。現場各隊啦啦隊氣氛熱烈，馮國培院長和王香生輔導長親到現場打氣及頒獎。今年，書院邀請到「香港韻律泳代表隊」八位成員於水運會作表演。

United College 35th Swimming Gala

The 2008-09 Swimming Gala was held successfully on 25 September 2008, with a record-breaking participation of over 150 students joining the competitions, representing the six hostels/non-residential halls. The cheerleading team helped raised the crowd's excitement which was further fueled by the College Head Professor Fung Kwok-pui and the Dean of Students Professor Stephen H S Wong's presence and their presentation of prizes to winners. Eight members from the "Hong Kong Synchronized Swimming Team" were invited to perform at the Swimming Gala this year.

大學本科入學資訊日

大學本科入學資訊日於2008年10月4日舉行，逾八千位中六學生及家人參觀聯合書院各項設施，包括：天機電算室、胡忠多媒體圖書館、學生宿舍、張煊昌體育館及岑才生聯合書院校史文物館等。

Orientation Day for Undergraduate Admissions

The Orientation Day for Undergraduate Admissions was held on 4 October 2008. The College student hostels, Wu Chung Multimedia Library, Tien Chi Microcomputer Laboratory, Shum Choi Sang United College Archives, Thomas H C Cheung Gymnasium and the College sports facilities were open for visit. About 8,000 secondary school students and their parents visited the College campus on that day.

第十六屆萌芽學者學術交流計劃現已公開接受同學報名

聯合書院第十六屆萌芽學者學術交流計劃現已公開接受同學報名。本年度的合作院校是北京清華大學。聯合書院將挑選五至八名同學就「北京奧運會投射出來的中國國際形象」為題作學術研究，並將研究成果於二零零九年五月出訪清華大學時公開發表。而清華大學的萌芽學者交流團將於2009年2月10日至20日到訪聯合書院十一天。

The 16th Budding Scholars Exchange Programme is Now Accepting Applications

The College is now inviting students to apply for the 16th College Budding Scholars Exchange Programme. The exchange partner of this year will be Tsinghua University, PRC. United College will select five to eight students to conduct academic research on the topic of "The International Image of China as Projected by the Beijing Olympic Games" . Tsinghua University will also send the same number of students to United College in mid-February 2009.
