Staff Association AGM was held on 24 October 2008 at the College Staff Common
Room. The AGM accepted the Annual Report and Audited Accounts of the Association
presented by the 2007/2008 Executive Committee and elected the following
office-bearers to form the 2008/2009 Executive Committee:

2) Membership Fees
2008-2009 membership fee for United College Staff Association will be deducted
from members' November 2008 salary. The fee is HK$150 for members on Terms of
Service A and HK$100 for those on Terms of Service B & C. For enquires please

2008至09年度聯合書院國際學術會議津貼計劃及訪問研究學人計劃
本院現已公開接受2008至09年度書院國際學術會議津貼計劃及訪問研究學人計劃第二輪申請，截止申請日期為2008年11月28日。申請結果將於12月底公布。

成功獲資助的教員須於出席國際學術會議後或與訪問學人合作研究後向本院文化交流及研究委員會提交報告。

United College International Conference Grant Scheme and Resident Fellow Scheme 2008-09
The second round of application for the College International Conference Grant Scheme and Resident Fellow Scheme 2008-09 is now open for application. The closing date will be 28 November 2008. The outcome will be announced by late December.

聯合書院校園發展計劃研究
書院生活委員會於2008年10月22日舉行午餐講座，主講嘉賓建築學系胡佩玲教授及朱競翔教授分享「聯合書院校園發展計劃研究」結果，及對書院在可持續發展等方面的策略提出建議。講座設有問答環節，出席者主動發表意見，與講者互相交流，並於講座後填寫有關計劃研究的問卷，收集到的意見對日後書院校園發展有莫大幫助。
United College Campus Development Plan Study
A Luncheon Talk on "United College Campus Development Plan Study" was organised by College Life Committee on 22 October 2008. The guest speakers, Professor Woo Pui-leng and Professor Zhu Jingxiang from Department of Architecture, shared their findings of the Study and suggested planning strategies for continuity, growth and sustainability of the College campus. Participants exchanged views with the speakers at the Question and Answer session. Questionnaires were distributed to collect their opinions, which will greatly help the College's campus development in future.
2009至10年度到訪傑出學人計劃接受報名
由書院基金會贊助的「到訪傑出學人」計劃每年邀請國際知名學者到訪書院，進行為期兩周的學術交流活動。贊助項目包括到訪傑出學人及其隨行配偶的商務客位來回機票、食宿費及酬金港幣兩萬元。至於訪問活動則由「到訪傑出學人」委員會及提名人共同商訂，一般包括兩次公開講座及與書院師生的學術交流活動。
2009至10年度「到訪傑出學人」計劃現正公開接受各學系同人提名。提名人須填妥報名表格，連同被提名學人的履歷交所屬系主任加簽，於2008年12月12日或以前送達「到訪傑出學人」委員會秘書林偉源先生。查詢或索取提名表格請電2609 7598或於書院網頁下載。
Call for Nominations for the 2009-10 Distinguished Visiting Scholar
Nominations are now invited from academic staff of United College for the 2009-10 Distinguished Visiting Scholar (DVS). The nominees should be internationally renowned scholars in any field of study. The DVS Scheme is sponsored by the College's Endowment Fund and offers a $20,000 honorarium for the invited scholar plus round-trip business class airfares and accommodation for the scholar and the accompanying spouse. The detailed programme for the visit will be designed by the DVS Committee in consultation with the nominator. The invited scholar is expected to deliver two public lectures and take part in exchange activities with staff and students of the College.
Each nomination, together with the nominee's full curricula vitae, should be endorsed by the chairpersons of the respective departments and addressed to Mr George Lam, Secretary of the DVS Committee on or before 12 December 2008.
