| Headed by Professor Zheng Nanning, the President, a 15-member delegation from the Xi'an Jiaotong University visited United College to exchange views and share experience on running the college system in the university on 17 December 2008. Professor Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students, and Mrs Christina Li, College Secretary, received the delegation and shared experience with them. |

由香港中文大學聯合書院、文學院及大學圖書館系統合辦的「香港相思 – 余光中的文學生命」展覽已於2008年12月15日正式開幕，並由當日起至2009年1月7日於大學圖書館展覽廳舉行。 是日蒙台灣中山大學光華講座教授余光中教授及夫人、院長馮國培教授、文學院署理院長黃國彬教授及大學圖書館館長施達理博士蒞臨主禮，並蒙多位校外嘉賓、校友、大學及書院同仁等撥冗親臨觀禮。 開幕典禮後，余光中教授出席「余光中教授文學講座暨詩文欣賞會」，分享創作心得，並由同學朗誦他的名篇，約五百名師生及中學生參加，氣氛熱烈。 |

The exhibition titled "Memories of Hong Kong – The Literary Life of Yu Kwang Chung" was officially opened on 15 December 2008. The exhibition, co-organised by United College, Faculty of Arts and University Library System of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, was open to public from 15 December 2008 to 7 January 2009 at the University Library Exhibition Hall. Professor and Mrs Yu Kwang Chung, Kung Hua Chair Professor of Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan; Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head; Professor Laurence Wong, Acting Dean of Faculty of Arts and Dr Colin Storey, University Librarian, officiated at the opening ceremony. Attending the ceremony were officers of the University, alumni as well as other guests. After the opening ceremony, a literary talk was given by Professor Yu together with recitation of his works by students. About 500 University members and secondary school students attended the talk which was well received. |

United College will organise an Art East and West Workshop titled “Inheritance and Transcendence: The 20th Century Chinese Painting (I)”. We are honoured to invite Dr Cheung Wai Yee, Part-time Lecturer of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK, to conduct the workshop. Participants will experience the changes of Chinese arts over the past hundred years by learning about some renowned twentieth century Chinese artists, such as Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, and their masterpieces.
