浙江大學竺可楨學院訪問團

浙江大學竺可楨學院訪問團，在該院常務副院長陳勁教授率領下，於2009年2月22至25日到訪聯合及逸夫書院，就三院於本年度暑假期間合辦的中國企業體驗計劃簽署協議書。

A delegation from Chu Kochen Honors College, Zhejiang University

A delegation from Chu Kochen Honors College of Zhejiang University, headed by their Acting Dean, Professor Chen Jin, visited United and Shaw Colleges from 22 to 25 February 2009,  and signed the agreement of the China Internship Programme scheduled for this summer.

社會服務

本院成員地理與資源管理學系鄒桂昌教授獲委任為市政服務上訴委員會委員及環境諮詢委員會委員委員，任期分別為三年及兩年，由2009年1月1日起生效。

本院成員地理與資源管理學系林健枝教授獲續任為環境諮詢委員會委員主席及委任為可持續發展委員會委員，任期分別為一年及兩年，分別由2009年1月1日及2009年3月1日起生效。

本院成員香港亞太研究所沈旭暉教授獲續任為古物諮詢委員會委員，任期兩年，由2009年1月1日起生效。

本院成員社區及家庭醫學系余德新教授獲委任為環境諮詢委員會委員委員，任期兩年，由2009年1月1日起生效。

本院成員經濟學系廖柏偉教授獲續任為證券及期貨事務監察委員會非執行董事，任期兩年，由2009年1月1日起生效。

本院成員醫學院（策劃處）劉允怡教授獲委任為香港醫務委員會委員，任期三年，由2009年1月24日起生效。

本院校友張仁良教授（82/數學）獲西九文化區管理局委任為該局諮詢會主席，任期一年，由2009年3月1日起生效。 

Community Services

College member, Professor Chau Kwai-cheong from Department of Geography and Resource Management, has been appointed as a panel member of the Municipal Services Appeals Board and a member of the Advisory Council on the Environment for three and two years respectively, with effect from 1 January 2009.

College member, Professor Lam Kin-che from Department of Geography and Resource Management, has been re-appointed as the chairman of the Advisory Council on the Environment and appointed as a member of the Council for Sustainable Development for one year, with effect from 1 January 2009 and two years, with effect from 1 March 2009 respectively.

College member, Professor Shen Xuhui Simon from Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, has been re-appointed as a member of the Antiquities Advisory Board for two year, with effect from 1 January 2009.

College member, Professor Ignatius T S Yu from Department of Community and Family Medicine, has been appointed as a member of the Advisory Council on the Environment for two years, with effect from 1 January 2009.

College member, Professor Liu Pak-wai from Department of Economics, has been re-appointed as a non-executive director of the Securities and Futures Commission for two years, with effect from 1 January 2009.

College member, Professor Joseph W Y Lau from Faculty of Medicine (Planning Office), has been appointed as a member of the Medical Council of Hong Kong for three years, with effect from 24 January 2009.

College alumnus, Professor Stephen Y L Cheung (82/MAT) has been appointed as the Chairman of the consultation panel of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority for one year, with effect from 1 March 2009. 

中大捐血運動2009

2009年度之「中大捐血運動」已定於2009年3月16日至23日舉行。香港紅十字會將於2009年3月18日（星期三）上午11時30分至下午5時30分假湯若望宿舍禮堂設立流動捐血站，敬希本院師生踴躍支持。

Blood Donation Campaign 2009

The campus-wide Blood Donation Campaign will be held from 16 to 23 March 2009. The Hong Kong Red Cross Mobile Unit will be stationed in Adam Schall Hall from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, 18 March 2009 to take blood donations. Staff and students of the College are urged to support this campaign.

訪問藝術家活動——古典音樂與藝術

崇基學院及聯合書院邀請到Mr Matthew Buckner, Professor Nathan Buckner及陳婷蘭教授擔任2008至09年度訪問藝術家，並於2009年3月至4月訪問書院，展開音樂及藝術活動。

1) 音樂活動

Professor Nathan Buckner與陳婷蘭教授是一對音樂家夫婦，二人現同於美國 University of Nebraska at Kearney的音樂及表演藝術系任教。Professor Nathan Buckner是美國著名的鋼琴獨奏家，曾於世界知名的音樂廳如Alice Tully Hall及Kennedy Center等舉行獨奏會。小提琴演奏家陳婷蘭教授於台灣出生，在1991年獲台灣全國室內樂比賽第一名。她是一位活躍的獨奏家及室內樂家，演出足跡遍佈各地，例如阿姆斯特丹、柏林、維也納、東京、新加坡、荷里活及香港等。

2) 藝術活動

雕塑家Mr Matthew Buckner 出身藝術世家，自幼從其父Paul Buckner學習雕塑。他於1988年在美國波士頓大學獲得藝術碩士學位後，,便開始從事藝術教育工作，在不同的大學或藝術學院教授素描、藝用解剖及雕塑。Mr Buckner擅長浮雕及立體的人體造型藝術，屢獲殊榮，亦在1989及1996年兩度獲得由National Sculpture Society 頒發的Gloria Medal獎項。

「Drawings by the Buckners」畫展

由崇基學院及聯合書院合辦的「Drawings by the Buckners」畫展，已於2009年3月16日下午4時30分開幕，展覽由當日至4月7日於崇基學院行政樓大堂展覽廳舉行，歡迎蒞臨參觀。

崇基學院院長梁元生教授、聯合書院院長馮國培教授、兩院藝術顧問利漢楨教授，以及兩院2008至09年度訪問藝術家Mr Matthew Buckner、Professor Nathan Buckner及陳婷蘭教授擔任開幕典禮的主禮嘉賓。是次展出Mr Matthew Bucker、其父Mr Paul Buckner及其母Mrs Kay Lamoreux Buckner的優秀畫作，兩代佳作各自精彩，實在不容錯過。

Visiting Artists 2008-09 Activities—Classical Music and Art

Chung Chi College and United College have jointly invited Mr Matthew Buckner, Professor Nathan Buckner and Professor Ting-Lan Chen to be Visiting Artists 2008-09. During their visit to the Colleges in March and April 2009, a series of music and art activities will be organised.

1) Music Activities

Professor Nathan Buckner and Professor Ting-Lan Chen are a musician couple both teaching in the Department of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, USA. Professor Nathan Buckner, a piano soloist and chamber musician, has presented solo recitals in many celebrated concert halls in the USA, including the Alice Tully Hall and the Kennedy Center. Professor Ting-Lan Chen, a violinist and a native of Taiwan, was the first-prize winner of the 1991 National Chamber Music Competition in Taiwan. An active soloist and chamber musician, she has performed in many places including Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Tokyo, Singapore, Hollywood and Hong Kong.

2) Art Activities

Raised in a family of artists, Mr Matthew Buckner received his first training in sculpture from his father Paul Buckner. After doing his graduate work at Boston University, he taught drawing, design and sculpture at the college level. Mr Buckner's knowledge and mastery of the figure in relieves and three-dimensional media has gained him many commissions and awards. In 1989 and 1996, he was the winner of the Gloria Medal, awarded by the National Sculpture Society for best body of work.

Art Exhibition: "Drawings by the Buckners"

The Opening Ceremony of the exhibition "Drawings by the Buckners" was held on 16 March 2009, 4:30pm. Officiating guests included Professor Leung Yuen-sang, Head of Chung Chi College; Professor Fung Kwok-pui, Head of United College; Professor Hon-ching Lee, Art Adviser of the Colleges; Mr Matthew Buckner, Professor Nathan Buckner and Professor Lan-Ting Chan, Visiting Artists of the Colleges 2008-09. The exhibition, jointly organised by Chung Chi College and United College, will be held from 16 March to 7 April 2009 at the Lobby Gallery of Chung Chi College Administration Building. This exhibition, presenting the excellent works of Mr Matthew Bucker, his father Mr Paul Buckner, and his mother Mrs Kay Lamoreux Buckner, should not be missed.

聯合書院2009年周年研討會——「台前幕後說話劇」

聯合書院2009周年研討會已定於3月6日上午10時假聯合書院鄭棟材樓C1講室舉行，近一百五十位師生、校友及嘉賓出席，參加者反應熱烈，並與講者交流意見。今年的研討會主題為「台前幕後說話劇」。出席研討會的嘉賓包括香港特別行政區立法會議員陳淑莊女士、「眾」劇團藝術主任、香港中文大學藝術行政主任兼邵逸夫堂經理蔡錫昌先生及一休7A班戲劇組藝術總監梁承謙校友。香港中文大學聯合書院校友會會長殷巧兒女士擔任研討會的主持。 

2009 Annual Workshop of United College "Talking Over HK Plays On and Off Stage"

The 2009 Annual Workshop of United College was held on 6 March 2009 at 10:00 am at the C1 Lecture Theatre of

T C Cheng Building, United College.  The topic of this year's workshop was "Talking Over HK Plays On and Off Stage".  Speakers of the workshop included Ms Tanya Chan, Member of the Legislative Council, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Mr Hardy Tsoi, Artistic Director of "TNT" Theatre, Arts Administrator of the Office of the Arts Administrator cum Manager of Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Mr Leung Shing Him, Yatyau Artistic Director of Class 7A Drama Group.  Ms Lina H Y Yan, President of the Alumni Association of United College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong was the moderator of the Workshop. The workshop was well received by about 150 guests, staff and students who showed positive feedback.

推薦下任聯合書院院長公開諮詢大會

聯合書院院長馮國培教授的任期將於2009年7月31日屆滿。由六位當選為「院長推薦委員會」成員的院務委員組成的工作小組已於2009年2月23日，假張祝珊師生康樂大樓三樓文怡閣舉行了教職員公開諮詢會，多位聯合書院教職員出席，參與討論。

此外，為廣泛諮詢聯合書院同學意見，工作小組亦於2009年3月11日，於思源文娛中心舉行學生公開諮詢大會，約三十名學生參加，提出意見供「院長推薦委員會」參考。

亦歡迎書院同人及學生將書面意見以密件方式在2009年3月底前送交院長推薦委員會工作小組召集人，聯合書院通識教育主任張雙慶教授。

Open consultation Forums for the Appointment of the Next Head of United College

The term of Professor Fung Kwok-pui as Head of United College will expire on 31 July 2009.  In order to gather feedback from staff on the appointment of the next Head, the group of six Fellows elected to serve on the Committee for the Appointment of College Head has organized an open consultation forum for staff of United College on 23 February 2009 in the Staff Common Room, 3/F, Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building.  United College staff members attended the forum, to exchange views with the group and to make recommendations for the consideration of the Committee.

Another open consultation forum for students of United College was also organized on 11 March 2009 in the Si Yuan Amenities Centre.  About 30 students attended the forum.

Staff members and students are also welcomed to forward feedback and suggestions in writing under confidential cover to the Convenor of the Working Group for the Appointment of the Next Head of United College, c/o Professor Chang Song-hing, Dean of General Education, United College on or before end of March 2009.
