書院為獎勵本學年在GEU 4011【專題討論】課程中表現優異的同學，決定贈送壹佰圓書券乙張予獲導師提名的學生，以資獎勵。請獲獎同學於2009年3月6日至4月20日於辦公時間內到聯合書院曾肇添樓二樓聯合書院學生輔導處領取書券。上述獎勵由書院基金會撥款資助，書院謹此鳴謝。 |

Book Coupon Award Scheme of GEU4011 "Senior Seminar" in 2008-09
To encourage students with excellent performance in the College general education course,GEU4011 "Senior Seminar" this year, the College has decided to give out $100 worth of book coupon each to the students nominated by their respective course supervisors. The awardees can collect their coupons during office hours from 6 March to 20 April 2009 at the Dean of Students' Office, Tsang Shiu Tim Building. The College would like to thank the College Endowment Fund Committee in sponsoring this award scheme. |

聯合書院邁進地球村系列
聯合書院邁進地球村系列現有以下新計劃開始接受報名：
林宜龍內地實習獎勵計劃 此計劃由林宜龍先生撥款設立，目的是資助書院同學參與由大學學生事務處所舉辦的「寰宇暑期實習計劃2009——內地部份」，同學於暑期間前往國內進行考察或實習，以加深對國內文化和社會的了解。報名表格及有關獎項的詳細資料可到書院學生輔導處索取或於書院網頁下載http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/。截止報名日期為2009年3月31日。
中國企業體驗計劃 聯合書院現正與逸夫書院及浙江大學合辦「中國企業體驗計劃」。聯合書院及逸夫書院將合共挑選二十名同學於2009年6月30日至8月3日(暫定)到杭州作三星期的企業實習及以「人力資源管理與企業持續發展」為題作學術研究。計劃的第二部份將於香港進行，一共四十名來自兩校的同學將被安排到訪本地的政府部門及機構。

United College Globe-Oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme
The following new schemes under the United College Globe-Oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme are now open for application :
Lam Yee Lung Wade China Employment Award Scheme With generous support from Mr Lam Yee Lung Wade, the Mr Lam Yee Lung Wade China Employment Award Scheme is set up to provide financial support to students taking up summer internships through the "Global Internship in China" organised by the Office of Student Affairs in order to improve their understanding of the society and culture of China.
Application forms are obtainable from the College Dean of Students' Office or downloaded from the College homepage http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/. Deadline of application is 31 March 2009.
China Internship Programme United College, Shaw College and Zhejiang University are now jointly organising this China Internship Programme. United College and Shaw College will send totally twenty students to attend a 3-week internship programme in Hangzhou and conduct academic research there. The second part of the programme will take place in Hong Kong, totally 40 students from both universities will visit different government departments and organizations in Hong Kong.
Application forms are obtainable from the College Dean of Students' Office or downloaded from the College homepage http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/. Deadline of application is 10 March 2009.

UC Language Improvement Project—Summer English and Putonghua Camps
United College Summer English and Putonghua Camps are now open for application. The details are as follows:
English Immersion Camp Date: 16-18 May 2009 Venue: Breakthrough Youth Village
Putonghua Immersion Camp Date: 15-17 May 2009 Venue: HKFYG Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp

書院獎學金消息
以下獎項已開始接受申請：
1)王德昭紀念獎學金 王德昭紀念獎學金乃為紀念本院已故歷史系教授暨中國文化研究所前高級研究員王德昭先生而設。每年設奬額一名，金額為港幣三千元正，頒予學術論文優異之畢業班學生。其論文必須與中國近世史或現代中國歷史有關。
2)王德昭紀念學業獎 本院為紀念前歷史系教授王德昭先生在歷史學之貢獻，特設立上述獎項，頒予撰寫學術論文成績優異之聯合書院本科生，惟其論文必須與中國近世史或現代中國歷史有關。上述獎項共設獎額兩名，每名獎金港幣一千元正。
3)書院體育運動獎 書院本年度設有體育運動獎三十一名，每名港幣一千元至一萬元，頒予在體育活動方面有傑出表現之聯合同學。申請者須由書院體育部提名。
以上各項獎項的截止申請日期為2009年3月25日。有關詳情及申請辦法，請參閱學生輔導處報告板、瀏覽書 院網頁或逕向書院學生輔導處查詢。

College Scholarships News
Applications are now invited for the following scholarships:
1)Wang Teh-chao Memorial Scholarship This scholarship, in amount of HK$3,000, has been set up in memory of the late Mr Wang Teh-chao, former Reader in history of United College and former senior Research Fellow of the University's Institute of Chinese Studies. Graduates and final-year students of United College are invited to apply for the Wang Teh-chao Memorial Scholarship.
2)Wang Teh-chao Memorial Prizes Two prizes, in amount of HK$1,000 each, are awarded to United College Students for outstanding essays on the history of later imperial China (900-1800) or history of Modern China.
3)College Athletic Awards United College will be offering a total of 31 athletic awards, ranging in value from HK $1,000 to HK$10,000, for the year 2008-09. These prizes are to be awarded to students who have demonstrated exceptional athletic and sports abilities or who have made significant contributions towards the promotion of on-campus sports activities during the year. Applications and/or nominations should be made through the College's Physical Education Unit.

陳震夏宿舍五周年聚餐
為了慶祝陳震夏宿舍踏入五周年紀念，讓不同屆別的宿生、校友能聚首一堂，陳宿之友籌備委員會於2009年2月12日晚上7時30分在聯合校園舉行了「陳宿之友——陳震夏宿舍五週年聚餐」活動，逾一百五十人出席，包括院長馮國培教授、宿舍管理委員會主席鄭漢其教授、國際生舍堂舍監余濟美教授伉儷、湯宿舍監吳恆亮教授、院務主任李雷寶玲女士、陳宿宿生、樓導師、工友、校友及書院同仁等。

Chan Chun Ha Hostel 5th Anniversary Reunion Dinner
To celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Chan Chun Ha Hostel, the Friends of CCHH Organizing Committee arranged a reunion dinner for their fellow students and alumni on 12 February 2009 at 7:30 pm on UC campus. Over 150 people including Professor Fung Kwok-pui, Head of United College; Professor Cheng Hon-ki, Chairman of the Student Hostels Management Committee; Professor and Mrs Jimmy Yu, Warden of I-House; Professor Dickon H L Ng, Warden of Adam Schall Residence; Mrs Christina Li, College Secretary; residents, tutors, hostel staff, alumni of CCHH and officers of the College were there to share the fun. |

聯合書院校友講座
為增進同學與校友間的聯繫，由2005年起，書院與書院校友會合辦一系列的「聯合書院校友講座」，邀請在社會上各行各業有卓越成就的校友，與在校的師弟師妹們分享他們在事業上、人生旅途上的各種經歷與體會。校友講座將以高桌晚宴形式舉行，讓聯合同學在輕鬆的環境下與主講校友嘉賓交流認識。
校友講座的第七講已於2009年2月24日晚上7時假聯合書院張祝珊師生康樂大樓文怡閣舉行，書院邀請得1988年會計系校友，香港中文大學創業研究中心榮譽項目總監蔡明都校友擔任主講嘉賓，以「年輕人如何成功創業」為講題，與八十位聯合同學分享他的創業心得。 |

United College Alumni Talk
From 2005, the College and the Alumni Association have jointly organised a series of alumni talks for students. Distinguished alumni from all walks of life are invited to share with fellow students on their career and life experiences. The Alumni Talk is organised in the format of high table dinner, providing students and alumni with a relaxing atmosphere for learning and communication.
The seventh Alumni Talk was held on 24 February 2009 7:00 pm at the Staff Common Room, Top Floor, Cheung Chuk Shan Amenities Building, United College. The College has invited Mr Mingles Tsoi, Honourary Project Director (HKSEC), CUHK Centre for Entrepreneurship, to share with 80 UC students on "How can you become a young entrepreneur?" Mr Tsoi is a 1988 United College alumnus who majored in Accounting. |

2009年2月13日「書院聚會」
主題：「邁進地球村」學生交流活動分享會 地點：大學邵逸夫堂
是次書院聚會邀請了五組同學上台，與其他同學分享交流體驗。這五組同學在2008年暑期參加了以下「邁進地球村」活動：
1) 陳曾燾博士中國內地考察計劃 2) 「語文改善計劃」外地文化及語文研習課程——西安陝西師範大學 3) 暑期外地學分進修計劃 4) 荷蘭烏特勒支大學暑期課程 5) 美國首都華盛頓考察團
在分享會前，進行了支票致送儀式。書院蒙 林宜龍先生捐款成立「林宜龍內地實習獎勵計劃」。另外，書院致送「致賀狀」予化學講座教授謝作偉教授，恭賀他榮獲2008年國家自然科學獎二等獎。
在頒發獎項環節中，書院很榮幸邀請到捐獎人蔡冠深校董夫人、范祖德先生、何萬森校董、黃鈞堯校董、何淑儀校友及馮國培院長親臨頒獎予各位得獎同學。 |

Five groups of students who had participated in the following "GOAL Programme" in 2008 summer were invited to present a sharing on their experience:
1) Dr Thomas T T Chen Scholarships for Study Projects in China 2) Language Improvement Project – Chinese Culture and Language Programme at Shannxi Normal University, Xian, PRC 3) Non-local Credit-bearing Summer Sudies Scheme 4) Summer Programme at Utrecht University, The Netherlands 5) Travel Study Programme to Washington, DC area
Before students' sharing, a donation cheque presentation was arranged with Mr Wade Y L Lam donated to support the establishment of "Lam Yee Lung Wade China Employment Award Scheme". In addition, a congratulation certificate was presented to Professor Xie Zuowei, Professor of Chemistry, on receiving a "Second-class Award of the 2008 State Natural Science Award".
In the "Award Presentation" session, the College was honoured to have donors including Mrs Choi Koon-shum, Mr Fan Cho-tak, Mr Ho Man-sum, Professor Wong Kwan-yiu, Ms Ho Shuk-yi and Professor Fung Kwok-pui to present awards to the recipients. |

聯合學生會消息
本院第四十七屆學生會幹事會選舉已於2009年2月13至19日進行投票，並於2月20日下午2時45分，在院長馮國培教授、輔導長王香生教授、院務主任李雷寶玲女士及學生會選舉委員會監察下，在學生休息室進行點票。是次選舉共有八百三十九位同學投票，佔學生會會員總人數的百份之三十六點一六。
其中對唯一候選內閣「聯•通」投信任票者七百六十六人，不信任票者二十九人，棄權票者四十四人，另有廢票八張。結果「聯•通」順利當選，由3月1日起正式出任第四十七屆學生會幹事會。新幹事會成員名單如下：

United College Student Union News
The 47th United College Student Union Executive Committee election was held from 13 to 19 February 2009. The ballots were opened and counted on 20 February at 2:45 pm at the Student Common Room under the supervision of Professor Fung Kwok-pui, Head of College; Professor Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students; Mrs Christina Li, College Secretary and United College Student Union's ad hoc Elections Committee. A total of 839 students (34.16%) had cast their votes in the election.
"聯•通", the only cabinet standing for election, was elected the 47th United College Student Union Executive Committee by 766 votes to 29, with 44 abstentions and 8 invalidated ballots. The newly-elected office-bearers have assumed office on 1 March 2009. Their names and positions are as follows:

聯合書院「師生共膳計劃」
為了加強院內師生的聯繫，聯合書院於2006年起推出「聯合書院師生共膳計劃」。 計劃以學院作為單位，鼓勵不同學院的老師和同學，透過出席於聯合書院飯堂舉行的晚宴，加強彼此溝通，亦加深對書院的認識。此計劃是書院非形式教育的一部份。

Applications for Summer Residence Applications for this year's summer residence in UC student hostels will be open on 1 April 2009. For further details, please refer to the College notice-boards or approach the Dean of Students' Office. The deadline for applications is 24 April 2009.
Recruitment of Student Coordinators for Summer Residence 2009 United College's student hostels will be open for rental to outside groups and student societies during the summer vacation of 2009. Students interested in working as summer residence coordinators can apply. Application forms are obtainable from the Dean of Students' Office, United College. UC Students Won Champions of Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge 2008
Two teams "Green Collar" and "Tailored Care" won the Champions of Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge 2008. Among these two teams, seven students are from United College, in which all team members of "Tailored Care" are United College students.
