本院成員獲大學頒授榮譽院士

本院資深書院導師關信基教授獲頒授香港中文大學第八屆榮譽院士，頒授典禮將於2009年5月18日(星期一)下午五時正於利黃瑤璧樓利希慎音樂廳舉行，由大學校董會主席鄭維健博士主禮。

College Member will be Conferred CUHK Honorary Fellowship

Professor Kuan Hsin-chi, Senior College Tutor of United College, will be conferred CUHK'sHonorary Fellowship in recognition of his significant contributions to the University and College as well as outstanding achievements. The Conferment Ceremony will be held on 18 May 2009 (Monday) at 5:00 pm at the Esther Lee Building. Dr Edgar W K Cheng, Chairman of the Council of the University will officiate at the ceremony.

書院校董會消息 

書院校董會第六十五次會議將於2009年6月9日(星期二)下午5時30分假聯合書院曾肇添樓二樓校董會議室舉行。

中大四十五周年講座——「下一站牛津：羅德學人在中大」

由大學學生事務處及中大校友事務處合辦的中大四十 五周年講座──「下一站牛津：羅德學人在中大」已於2009年4月16日下午假校園西部綜合教學大樓六號演講廳舉行。

羅德獎學金於1985年引入香港，而香港中文大學（中大）過去曾有十二位畢業生獲此殊榮前往牛津大學深造，是本地院校之冠，其中六位更屬聯合書院的畢業生。他們投身社會後亦在法律、銀行、金融及社會科學等各行各業擔任要職，成就卓越。

四位出席講座的中大羅德學人分別為大律師王鳴峰先生（94/聯合/工管）、巴克萊亞洲有限公司投資銀行部常務董事王澤基先生（96/新亞/電子）、銀行界李珮珊博士（98/聯合/電子），以及智經研究中心經理（研究）黎穎瑜小姐（00/崇基/社會）。講座中，他們與百多名大學及中學生分享具備國際視野的重要性，並暢談學習心得及在牛津修業的所見所聞。這些優秀的羅德學人是學生的學習榜樣，透過與他們面對面交流，學生獲得多方面的寶貴意見，有助擴闊及加強國際視野，裨益日後的專業發展。

CUHK 45th Anniversary Lecture— "Rhodes Scholars at CUHK"

Jointly organised by the Office of Student Affairs and the Alumni Affairs Office of CUHK, the CUHK 45th Anniversary Lecture― "Rhodes Scholars at CUHK" was held on 16 April 2009 at LT6, Teaching Complex at Western Campus.

Since the launch of the Rhodes Scholarship in Hong Kong in 1985, twelve CUHK graduates have been awarded the Scholarship and furthered their studies at the University of Oxford, making CUHK the local university with the most Rhodes Scholars. Six of them are graduates of United College. These young Scholars have subsequently excelled in a variety of industries ranging from law, banking and finance, to social sciences.

Four Rhodes Scholars from CUHK, namely Mr William Wong Ming-fung, Barrister-at-Law (94/UC/BBA); Mr Jack Wong Chak-kei, Managing Director, Investment Banking, Barclays Capital Asia Limited (96/NA/EEE); Dr Amanda Lee Pui-shan from banking industry (98/UC/EEE); and Ms Jade Lai Wing-yu, Manager (Research) of Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre (00/CC/SOC), attended the lecture as guest speakers. During the lecture, they spoke on the importance of international perspectives and shared their academic pursuit and experiences in studying at Oxford with over a hundred university and secondary school students. Through face-to-face interactions with outstanding role models, students received first-hand advice on various issues, which broadened their horizons and strengthened their global awareness.

United We Advance Fifth Issue

The fifth issue of United We Advance has been published in May 2009. The theme of this issue features on United College's contribution in Biochemistry. The publications have been distributed to various departments/units of the University, tertiary institutions, public libraries, all members of United College Alumni Association as well as secondary schools in Hong Kong. The online version of United We Advance is also available at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/uwa/.

The sixth issue of United We Advance will be published in December 2009. The Editorial Committee of United We Advance also invites articles from staff, alumni and students of United College. Please feel free to share your experience on college life and your insights on teaching and learning. There are no restrictions on the topic, language and genre. Photos are welcome too.

署理書院輔導長任命

書院輔導長王香生教授將帶領七位聯合書院同學於2009年5月18至21日 前赴北京清華大學參加第十六屆聯合書院萌芽學者交流計劃，並於2009年5月25至6月1日王教授將前往西雅圖出席美國運動醫學會年會。上述期間由生物系朱利民教授出任署理輔導長。

Appointment of Acting Dean

Professor Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students, will lead a group of seven United College students to take part in the 16th United College Budding Scholars Exchange Programme at Tsinghua University in Beijing from 18 to 21 May 2009. He will also attend the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting in Seattle, USA from 25 May to 1 June 2009. Professor Chu Lee-man of the Department of Biology will be the Acting Dean of Students during the above periods.
