2008-09 United College Graduation Ceremony The 2008-09 UC Graduation Ceremony was held on Thursday, 10 December 2009. Ms Lina H Y Yan, President of United College Alumni Association was the officiating guest of the Ceremony. A Tree Planting Ceremony and Group photo-taking session for UC Graduates on the College campus, were arranged before the ceremony. Over one thousand and seven hundred guests, graduates and their parents attended the Graduation Ceremony at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. |

樂步行(第四期) 過去三期樂步行活動非常成功，第四期的樂步行將於2010年1月22日(星期五)舉行，今次活動將由大學港鐵站出發，途經校友徑及中藥園，步行至新亞書院。參加者將獲得精美紀念品，終點亦設有茶點招待，詳情將於稍後公布。 |

Walking Campaign (Phase 4)
After the three successful campaigns, the fourth Walking Campaign will be held on Friday, 22 January 2010. The route will be from University MTR Station to New Asia College, via Alumni Garden and Herbal Garden. Souvenirs will be given to participants and light refreshment will be provided at the destination. Further details will be announced later. |

Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2010—United College Team The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2010 will take place on Sunday, 28 February 2010. To encourage our students, staff members and alumni to participate, United College Task Force on Health Promotion, College Life Committee and Staff Association will prepare a souvenir for each United College Athlete, offer partial sponsorship to participating students and organise Trial Run sessions. Delegation of Executives from Key
Mainland Middle Schools Visited United College A delegation of forty executives from key mainland middle schools paid a visit to United College on Wednesday, 25 November 2009. Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, Professor Jimmy C M Yu, Dean of General Education and Ms Sandy P S Lee, Assistant College Secretary received the delegation. Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head delivered a welcoming address and Professor Jimmy Yu introduced the University's collegiate system and United College. The participants then visited the College campus to have a deeper understanding of the College's latest development |

書院聚會——粵語友誼辯論賽 書院粵語辯論隊於2009年11月13日邀請香港教育學院中文辯論隊到中文大學進行友誼賽。辯題為「興建廣深港高速鐵路得不償失」，比賽評判包括沙田區議員衛慶祥先生、哲學系鄭宗義教授及政治及行政學系黃偉豪教授，結果書院辯論隊以三比零獲勝，書院謹致衷心祝賀。 |

College Assembly—Friendly Debate Match The College Cantonese Debate Team invited the Chinese Debate Team of the Hong Kong Institute of Education for a friendly match on 13 November 2009 at the College Assembly on campus. The motion was “There is less gain than loss in constructing the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link”, and the panel of judges included Mr Wai Hing-cheung, Shatin District Council Member, Professor Cheng Chung-yi, Department of Philosophy, and Professor Wilson Wong, Department of Government and Public Affairs. The College Debate Team won the match by 3:0. Heartily congratulations to the College Cantonese Debate Team! |

書院聚會——2009年11月20日 「九七前後的政務官生涯點滴」 2009年11月20日上午，聯合書院假大學邵逸夫堂舉行書院聚會。書院蒙 亞洲金融市場協會有限公司行政總裁伍展明校友(79/社會)擔任演講嘉賓，以「九七前後的政務官生涯點滴」為題，與一千四百多位聯合同學分享他多年在政界工作的寶貴經歷，以及過往擔任政府工作時所面對的問題和對策。在問答環節中，場內同學反應熱烈。 |

College Assembly―20 November 2009
"My experience as an AO before and after 1997" The College Assembly was held in the morning of 20 November 2009, at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The College was honored to have Mr Stephen Ng (79/SOC), the Managing Director of ACI Asia-The Financial Markets Association Limited, to be the guest speaker. The topic of the talk was “My experience as an AO before and after 1997”. Mr Ng shared with the audience his precious and long time working experience, as well as the difficulties and the challenges facing when working in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. The talk was well received by having over 1,400 UC students attended the College Assembly. Participants interacted actively with the speaker in the Question and Answer Session. |

書院聚會——2009年11月27日 「電影座談會」 2009年11月27日上午，聯合書院假大學西部教學大樓LT6講堂舉行書院聚會——「電影座談會」。座談會蒙 社會學系王淑英教授擔任主持，著名影評人健吾先生(葉鍵濠校友，02/新聞與傳播學系)擔任演講嘉賓。講者以比較兩套中國和日本電影的形式，從文化角度探討「男性身份」及「死亡」兩題目，與四百六十多位聯合同學作討論和反思。 |

"Seminar on Movies" The College Assembly ―"Seminar on Movies" was held in the morning of 27 November 2009, at LT6, Teaching Complex at Western Campus. The College was honored to have Professor Wong Suk-ying from Department of Sociology to be the moderator, as well as famous film critics and College alumnus, Mr Anthony Ip (02/JLM) to be the guest speaker of the Seminar. By comparing two movies from mainland China and Japan, the issues of "Male Identity" and "Death" were discussed from the cultural point of view. |

"Lecture by Scholarship Recipient" The College Assembly ―"Lecture by Scholarship Recipient" was held at 5:30 pm on 30 November 2009, at LT5, Teaching Complex at Western Campus. The College was honored to have Ms May Chung (94/BBA), Recipient of S Leung Postgraduate Scholarship 94-95, to be the guest speaker to talk on the topic "My Life…from Postgraduate Study to a Financial Career in the US and HK". Ms Chung shared with the 280 audiences on her precious working experience in the commercial sector, as well as what she gained and faced when studying overseas. |

2009年度校長盃暨教職員同樂日 中大校長盃暨教職員同樂日已於2009年11月15日(星期日)於大學體育中心舉行。本院教職員籃球隊於決賽日奪得亞軍，羽毛球隊及足球隊則奪得季軍殊榮。書院員生同時於校長盃教職員同樂日擺設遊戲攤位，場面熱鬧。 參與校長盃各項比賽之聯合書院運動員名單詳列附件三。 |

The 2009 VC's Cup and Fun Fair The 2009 VC's Cup and Fun Fair took place on Sunday,15 November 2009 at the University Sports Centre. UC Basketball Team won the first runner up, while the Badminton Team and Football Team won the second runner up of the competition. Through the collaborative effort of our staff and students, a game booth was set up at the VC's Cup Fun Fair and attracted a large number of participants. The UC Sports Teams competing in the 2009 VC's Cup is listed in Attachment 3. |
