聯合書院奪「與高錕教授同行中大步行籌款日」兩個獎項 「與高錕教授同行中大步行籌款日」已於2010年3月14日圓滿舉行，聯合書院獲書院校董、師生及校友積極響應，組成二百多人的聯合書院步行隊參與此次活動。在書院同仁的鼎力支持下，聯合書院勇奪「書院最高籌款總金額獎」及「書院最多人數參與獎」兩個獎項。 |

United College Won Two Awards in “Walk with Professor Kao” CUHK Walkathon The “Walk with Professor Kao” CUHK Walkathon was held successfully on Sunday, 14 March 2010. United College formed a UC Walking Team with over 200 College trustees, staff, students and alumni. With staunch support from College members, United College won “The Best Fundraiser Award - College” and “The Most Number of Participants Award - College” of the Walkathon. |

Appointment of Acting Dean of Students Professor Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students, attended the 3rd International Congress on Physical Activity and Public Health in Toronto, Canada from 4 to 8 May 2010. Professor Wong will also visit Nanjing Normal University, China from 24 to 25 May 2010. Professor Lee Tan, Department of Electronic Engineering will be the Acting Dean of Students during the above period. |

United College Hitch-offer Campaign – in aid of Residents Moving out of Student Hostels To help students move out of their hostels at the end of term, the College will launch a Hitch-offer campaign during the last weekend of May (29 and 30 May 2010). Members of the College will provide free transportation to ferry students, plus their luggage, from their respective residential halls to the University MTR Station. 恒生樓舍監鄒桂昌教授榮休歡送晚宴 由恒生樓舊生會主辦，宿生會協辦之「恒生樓舍監鄒桂昌教授榮休歡送晚宴」已於2010年4月16日晚上假聯合校園順利舉行。鄒桂昌教授自1993年出任恒生樓舍監至今已超過十七年，為感謝鄒教授多年來對書院和恒生樓的貢獻，一眾宿生及校友於當晚特別安排盛大晚宴和表演，並播出由宿生及校友錄製的短片，分享多年來與鄒舍監一同渡過的點滴，場面既熱鬧又溫馨。當晚出席人數逾一百八十人，包括院長馮國培教授、恒生樓宿生、住校導師、工友、校友及書院同仁等。 恒生樓舊生會更在晚會中舉行成立儀式，宣佈以恒生樓舊生會名義為書院籌募獎學金，以鼓勵恒生樓宿生積極參與宿舍及書院活動，發揚明德新民的聯合精神。鄒舍監及馮院長即時響應，分別捐贈港幣三萬元及一萬元予書院成立恒生樓舊生會獎。 |

Farewell Dinner in Honour of Professor Chau Kwai-cheong, Warden of Hang Seng Hall The Hang Seng Hall Alumni Association and the Residents’ Association had jointly organised a farewell dinner for their Warden, Professor Chau Kwai-cheong on the occasion of his retirement. The Dinner was held in the evening of 16 April 2010 on the UC campus. To honour and give thanks to Professor Chau for his 17 years of service to the College and to Hang Seng Hall, the Hang Seng Hall residents and alumni put together a grand dinner and a variety show. The highlight of which was a short documentary portraying Professor Chau’s time and tenure as their friend and mentor. Over 180 people attended, including Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, past and present residents, tutors, hostel staff and other members of the College. On the same evening, the new Alumni Association of Hang Seng Hall was inaugurated and announced that its first order of business was to establish an award in its name, to encourage participation in Hall activities and to advance the College’s spirit of “Make One’s Virtues Shine and Renew the People”. That sentiment was immediately echoed when Professor Chau and Professor Fung made respectively instant donations of HK$30,000 and HK$10,000 towards the Hang Seng Hall Alumni Association Award. |

Grant Scheme In response to the announcement from HKSAR Government to launch the fifth Matching Grant Scheme, positive response has been received from many alumni. The College is very privileged to have Mr Yau Ying-sum, a UC alumnus in Economics in 1975, pledged to donate up to HK$750,000 for matching the donation received from UC alumni in the coming two years. |

書院聚會——「高速鐵路——劃時代建設」 2010年4月13日書院假校園西部綜合教學大樓六號講堂舉行書院聚會。書院蒙 運輸及房屋局副局長暨本院校友邱誠武先生(82/生化)擔任演講嘉賓，以「高速鐵路——劃時代建設」為題，與四百多位同學介紹香港的鐵路發展及未來高速鐵路的網絡。 書院聚會上，院長馮國培教授代表書院恭賀新聞與傳播學院馮應謙教授獲頒授「社會科學院模範教學獎」。同時，馮院長向書院校友鄭華哲醫生(09/內外全科醫學士)致賀。鄭校友獲頒授「2009年度羅德學人獎」。此外，馮院長亦向獲頒授「2009至2010年度傑出學生服務獎」的張可楣同學(法學士/二)、梁樂行同學(內外全科醫學士/五)及伍棨廷同學(英國語文研究及英國語文教育/四年級)致賀。 |

College Assembly - XRL: Project for a Century A College Assembly was held in the afternoon of 13 April 2010, at LT6, Teaching Complex of Western Campus. The College was honored to have Mr Yau Shing-mu, Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Transport and Housing Bureau (82/BCH), to be the guest speaker with the topic “XRL: Project for a Century”. Mr Yau introduced the railway development of Hong Kong and the future network of Express Rail Link to the audience. The speech was well received by over 400 students attending the College Assembly. At the College Assembly, Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, congratulated Professor Anthony Y H Fung, School of Journalism and Communication, for being honoured the Exemplary Teaching Award from Faculty of Social Science.The College Head also congratulated Dr Cheng Hua-tse Timothy (09/MED), for winning the Hong Kong Rhodes Scholarship 2009. Moreover, Professor Fung congratulated Ms Cheung Ho-mei May (LLB/2), Mr Leung Lok-hang (MED/5) and Ms Ng Kai-ting Nettie (EDE/4), for being the recipients of Hong Kong Outstanding Tertiary Student Service Award 2009-2010. |

College Assembly - Forever Young The College Assembly was held in the morning of 16 April 2010, at LT5, Teaching complex of Western Campus. The College was honored to have Dr Louis Shih to be the guest speaker with the topic “Forever Young”. Dr Shih shared with the audience his valuable working experience and his enlightening life encounter in Hong Kong and overseas. The speech was well received by over 350 students attending the College Assembly. |

United College Si Yuan Amenities Centre – Workshop on Fresh Fruit Pancake Making for Kids The College Si Yuan Amenities Centre Club Management Committee organised a Fresh Fruit Pancake Making Workshop on 17 April 2010. The speaker of the workshop was Mr Joe W K Chan, Instructor of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management. Over twenty alumni and their children participated in the workshop and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. |

CUSIS Updates – Revamped “MyCUHK” Launched on 5 July 2010 The Chinese University Student Information System (CUSIS) is scheduled to go live on 5 July 2010. An interface with CUSIS will be made through the revamped “MyCUHK”, which will be launched at the same time. Staff and students need to use 6-digit staff ID or 10-digit student ID and the CWEM password to log into “MyCUHK”.
