訃聞

本院校友會顧問暨中國語言及文學系前系主任常宗豪教授(1967/中文)於2010年6月26日病逝澳門，享年七十三歲。常教授的喪禮於2010年7月11日於澳門鏡湖殯儀館福壽堂舉行。書院明德璧、岑才生校史文物館及天機電算室的牌匾書法，以及《明德新民聯合書院四十年》及《聯合書院金禧紀念圖片史》封面題字均是常宗豪教授的墨寶。

本院校友會顧問楊達志校友（58/經濟）於2010年4月2日與世長辭，享年八十三歲。楊校友為聯合書院校友會首任理事長（1958至1964年）。

本院校友謝廣楹先生（58/中文）於2010年4月25日與世長辭，享年七十九歲，謝校友的喪禮已於2010年5月15日於寶福山紀念館舉行。謝校友為聯合書院校友會首任副理事長（1958至1964年）。

三位校友對聯合書院及書院校友會的發展貢獻甚廣，對於他們的離世，本院師生深致悼念。

Obituary

Professor Sheung Chung-ho (67/CHI), Consultant of the College Alumni Association cum former Chairman of Department of Chinese Language and Literature, passed away at his age of 73 on 26 June 2010 at Macau. The funeral service was held on 11 July 2010 at the Macau Kiang Wu Funeral Home. The calligraphies on the plagues of Ming De Mural, Shum Choi Sang United College Archives and Tien Chi Microcomputer Laboratory, as well as on the covers of Ming De Xin Min Forty Years of United College  and Continuity and Diversity: A Golden Jubilee Pictorial History of United College were all written by Professor Sheung Chung-ho.

Mr Yeung Tat-che (58/ECO), Consultant of the College Alumni Association, passed away at his age of 83 on 2 April 2010. Mr Yeung is the first Council Chairman of the College Alumni Association from 1958 to 1964.

College alumnus, Mr Tse Kwong-ying (58/CHI) passed away at his age of 79 on 25 April 2010. The funeral service was held on 15 May 2010 at Po Fok Hill Memorial Hall. Mr Tse is the first Council Vice-Chairman of the College Alumni Association from 1958 to 1964.

Three alumni made significant contributions to the College and the College Alumni Association. Members of United College are saddened by the news and express the deepest condolences to their families.

本院校友出任規劃署署長

本院校友梁焯輝先生（76/地理）出任香港政府規劃署署長，由2010年6月28日起生效。

College Alumnus Appointed Director of Planning, HKSAR Government

College Alumnus, Mr Jimmy Leung (76/GEO) was appointed as the Director of Planning, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, with effect from 28 June 2010.

本院校友出任新亞書院下任輔導長

本院校友中大數學系溫有恆教授（86/數學）獲委任為新亞書院下任輔導長，任期兩年，由2010年8月1日起生效。

College Alumnus Appointed New Dean of Students of New Asia College

College Alumnus Professor Tom Y H Wan (86/MAT) was appointed as the new Dean of Students of New Asia College for two years, with effect from 1 August 2010.

本院校友成功開發生物柴油技術

本院校友黃耀光先生（03/環境科學）成功開發以廢棄油脂提煉成生物柴油的技術，減低生產成本，產品並符合美國及歐盟生物柴油標準，生物柴油適用於柴油汽車、燃燒機及鍋爐。該項目曾於第九屆「挑戰杯」中獲一等獎，對全球生態作出貢獻，並成功打入本港及歐洲巿場。

College Alumnus Invented Biodiesel Technology

College alumnus, Mr Wong Yiu-kwong (03/ENS), has successfully converted oil refinery waste into biodiesel, a renewable and green fuel protecting the environment. This waste recycling technology significantly lowers the production cost, and the product meets the biodiesel specifications of the American standard and the European Community standard. This product can be applied for diesel vehicles, combustion engines and electricity generators. The innovation was awarded the first prize in the 9th National Challenge Cup Competition. Biodiesel products are sold in Europe and America and now are available in Hong Kong.

本院校友獲2010上海世界博覽會香港館概念設計比賽冠軍

本院校友施琪珊女士（98/建築）與另一名中大校友陳維正先生合作參與2010上海世界博覽會香港館概念設計比賽，其作品在眾多同樣富創意的概念中脫穎而出，奪得冠軍。

College Alumna Won the Champion of Concept design competition for Hong Kong pavilion at World Expo 2010

College alumna, Ms Sze Ki-shan (98/ARC) cooperated with an alumnus of CUHK, Mr Billy W C Chan to participate in the Concept Design Competition for Hong Kong Pavilion at World Expo 2010. Their design outdone many other innovative pieces and won the champion of the competition.

書院校友會午間茶敘　

書院校友會於2010年6月19日假玉桃軒酒家舉行本年度第三次午間茶敘，邀得本院1989年工商管理畢業生及遵理學校創辦人之一的伍經衡校友主講「扭轉劣勢  商機無限」。當日活動筳開四席，合共四十三位校友出席。

UC Alumni Association - Luncheon Talk

The third luncheon talk of the UC Alumni Association this year was held on 19 June 2010 at the Graces Garden and Restaurant. The Association has invited Mr Richard Eng, a BBA graduate of 1989 cum founder of Beacon College to deliver a talk on “To Check Deteriorating Conditions for Unlimited Business Opportunities”. A total of 43 participants attended the luncheon talk.
