College Student Won the Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Scholarship

Mr Johnny C W Yin, (BIO/3), won this year’s Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Scholarship in support of his one-year exchange programme at the University of South Australia, Australia.

本院學生獲第六屆中國大學莎劇比賽傑出女演員獎

香港中文大學隊伍憑演出劇作<第十二夜>勝出由英文系及藝術行政主任辦公室合辦的第六屆中國大學莎劇比賽。本院學生陳穎欣同學（英文/三）更憑該劇獲頒傑出女演員獎。

College Student Won Outstanding Actress in the 6th Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival

The CUHK team won the 6th Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival by the drama “Twelfth Night”. The festival was co-organised by the Department of English and the Office of the Arts Administrator. College student, Ms Chan Wing-yan (ENG/3) was selected as the Outstanding actress.

本院學生獲香港中文大學校友評議會傑出服務及創意學生獎

本院學生趙元龍（政治及行政學/三）及伍棨廷（英國語文研究與英國語文教育/四）分別獲校友評議會頒發傑出校內服務獎及傑出創意獎。頒獎禮於2010年6月26日校友評議會周年會員大會中舉行。校友評議會今年共頒發四個獎項，其中兩獎均由本院同學奪得。

College Students Awarded CUHK Convocation Outstanding Services and Creativity Student Awards

College students, Mr Chiu Yuen-lung (GPA/3) and Ms Nettie K T Ng (EDE/4) were selected as recipients of Outstanding Campus Service Award and Outstanding Creativity Award respectively by the CUHK Convocation. The presentation ceremony was held on 26 June 2010 at the annual general meeting of the CUHK Convocation. Among the four awards presented by the CUHK Convocation this year, half of the awards went to United College students.

本院校園保健大使榮獲獎項

由大學健康促進及防護委員會主辦的第七屆校園保健大使計劃於2010年5月19日舉行畢業禮。本院十一位同學獲頒發「校園保健大使」證書，並奪得傑出活動獎。另本院司徒彥暘同學(公共衛生/1)及周麗華同學(公共衛生/1)更獲選為傑出保健大使。

College's Campus Health Ambassadors Won Awards

Organised by the University's Health Promotion and Protection Committee, the graduation ceremony of the Campus Health Ambassadors Programme was held on 19 May 2010. Eleven United College students received certificates for the completion of the programme and they won the Prominent Project Award. United College students, Mr Delilah Y Y Seto (PBH/1) and Miss Chow Lai-wa (PBH/1) were also awarded Prominent Health Ambassador.

書院與北京清華大學合辦「薪火計劃」

書院現正與北京清華大學合辦「薪火計劃」，活動日期為本年7月12日至8月7日。計劃分成兩部分，兩校合共28名同學現正在北京清華大學一起進行兩星期的培訓及京郊義教服務。清華大學的同學則於7月26日至8月7日期間回訪聯合書院，與本院同學一同進行培訓及於香港明愛老人、青少年及幼兒中心參與義工服務。

Social Service Programme at Tsinghua University

The College and Tsinghua University, PRC are now jointly organising a new student programme. In total, 28 students from both universities are now providing voluntary teaching service in the rural area of Beijing until 25 July.  United College students will also attend lectures and seminars organised by Tsinghua University on topics about Chinese history and Chinese culture.  Students from Tsinghua University will pay their return visit to United College from 26 July to 7 August.  They will attach to the Caritas Hong Kong to provide voluntary service at the elderly and children’s centre.

書院暑期爵士舞蹈班

為推動健康校園生活及鼓勵同學多參與體育運動，書院於2010年5月18日至6月15日期間舉辦了暑期爵士舞蹈班。是次爵士舞蹈班共有八課節，合共三十位同學參與。是次活動反應熱烈，同學對舞蹈班均給予正面評價。

UC Summer Jazz Dancing Class

In order to promote healthy school life and to encourage students to participate in sports activities, the College organised a Summer Jazz Dancing Class from 18 May to 15 June 2010. 30 students participated in the dancing class. The dancing class was well received by participants.

書院語文改善計劃——暑期普通話及英語學習營

為提高同學的語文水準，書院於2010年5月舉辦一個普通話學習營及兩個英語學習營。普通話學習營於5月28至30日在香港青年協會賽馬會西貢戶外訓練營舉行，共二十一位同學參加。英語營則於5月21至23日及5月28至30日在突破青年村舉行，合共四十五位同學參加。

UC Language Improvement Project- Putonghua and English Immersion Camps

The College organised a Putonghua Immersion Camp and two English Immersion Camps in May 2010 to enhance students’ language proficiency. 21 students joined the Putonghua Immersion Camp, which was held from 28 to 30 May at HKFYG Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp. The English Immersion Camps took place from 21 to 23 May and 28 to 30 May at Breakthrough Youth Village. In total, 45 students joined the camps.

書院粵語辯論隊訪問澳門理工學院

由書院資深導師兼書院粵語辯論隊隊監黃鉅鴻教授率領，書院辯論隊隊員於6月4日訪問澳門理工學院，作友誼比賽及交流。友誼辯論比賽之前，澳門理工學院管理科學高等學校校長黎錦榮教授及該校教職同仁設午宴招待本院訪問團。友誼賽辯論題目為「文物保護——教育與立法何者更為有效」，賽後雙方作交流及分享。經過本年度的互訪活動，兩院計劃建立長遠合作關係。

Debate Team Visited Macau Polytechnic Institute

Led by Professor Jeremiah Wong, Team Warden and Senior College Tutor, the College Cantonese Debate Team members visited Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) on 4 June 2010. Professor Colin Lai, Director of School of Business, MPI and colleagues received the College delegation at the welcoming luncheon. A friendly match on “Protection of Cultural and Historical Relics – legislation and education, which is more effective?” was held in the afternoon. Two teams also conducted a sharing and discussion session after the match. Through the mutual visits this year, the two institutions were developing a long term cooperative relationship.

書院學生訪問香港童軍總會

十多位書院學生於5月17日訪問香港童軍總會位於柯士甸道的童軍中心，並出席王津太平紳士的義務工作經驗分享會。王先生是前傑出青年協會主席，會面時他與書院學生分享多年來的義務工作心得。

該活動由書院學生輔導處及學生身心健康工作小組合辦，並獲得岑維休先生德育計劃資助。

College Students Visited Scout Centre

A group of College students visited the Hong Kong Scout Centre at Austin Road on 17 May 2010 and attended a sharing session on “Social Service Experience” delivered by Mr Justein C Wong, JP. Mr Wong, former Chairman of the Outstanding Young Persons’ Association, shared his service experiences with students at the occasion. 

The activity was jointly organised by the Dean of Students’ Office and the Taskforce on Students’ Well-being, and was subsidised by the Mr Shum Wai Yau Moral Education Scheme.

海外及研究獎學金頒獎茶聚

本年度書院海外及研究獎學金頒獎茶聚於2010年6月21日假思源文娛中心舉行。當日出席的嘉賓包括捐獎人梁鶴年先生及夫人、書院獎學金及學生資助委員會主席胡錦生教授、院長馮國培教授、獲獎同學、家長及書院同仁等。

Tea-gathering with Overseas and Postgraduate Scholarship Recipients

A tea-gathering for this year's overseas and postgraduate scholarship recipients was held on 21 June 2010 at the Si Yuan Amenities Centre. Guests attended the event were Mr and Mrs Stephen Leung, donors of the S Leung Postgraduate Scholarship, Professor Woo Kam-sang, Chairman of the Scholarships and Student Finance Committee, Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, scholarship recipients and their parents and members of the College.

岑才生學長計劃年終經驗分享會

第十屆岑才生學長計劃年終經驗分享會於2010年5月15日假書院思源文娛中心舉行。當日出席的學長和學員透過大會分享，暢談彼此在過去一年參與學長計劃的經驗和感受，並對來年的學長計劃提出寶貴的意見。學長和學員於會後享用下午茶自助餐，歡度一個輕鬆愉快的周末。

Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme Year-end Sharing Session

This year's Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme year-end sharing session was held on 15 May 2010 at the Si Yuan Amenities Centre. Mentors and mentees shared their experiences of joining the programme and offered suggestions for future improvement. A tea buffet was offered after the sharing session. All participants enjoyed a wonderful afternoon.

張煊昌博士導修計劃經驗分享會

張煊昌博士導修計劃經驗分享會於2010年5月25日（星期二）假書院思源文娛中心舉行。三十多位宿舍住校導師和同學出席當晚的分享會，暢談過去一年參與導修計劃專題研習小組的經驗和感受，並對來年的導修計劃提出寶貴意見。導修計劃工作小組召集人余濟美教授也藉此機會頒授聽講證書予出席率達七成以上的專題研習小組成員。參加者於會後在思源館享用自助晚餐。
