2010-2011年度書院獎學金

以下獎項將開始接受申請：

(1) 聯合書院全人教育入學獎學金計劃
為鼓勵具有不同專長及技能的同學入讀香港中文大學聯合書院，本院設立了「聯合書院全人教育入學獎學金計劃」，其中包括以下獎項：
  • 體育運動入學獎學金
    此項入學獎學金是為鼓勵具有運動潛質的學生入讀香港中文大學聯合書院而設。獎額三名，每名港幣一萬元。如得獎人於其後的修學年符合所需條件，此獎項將會繼續頒予該得獎人。
  • 陳曾燾博士思源立人入學獎學金
    此項入學獎學金是為鼓勵積極參與社會服務並有優秀表現的學生入讀香港中文大學聯合書院而設。獎額三名，每名港幣一萬元。如得獎人於其後的修學年符合所需條件，此獎項將會繼續頒予該得獎人。
  • 創意及文化入學獎學金
    此項入學獎學金是為鼓勵在藝術及文化方面具有創意及潛質的學生入讀香港中文大學聯合書院而設。獎額三名，每名港幣一萬元。

(2) 第一代大學生入學獎學金
此項入學獎學金是為鼓勵父母均非大學生的學生入讀香港中文大學聯合書院而設。獎額一百名，每名港幣二千五百元。

以上各項獎項的申請日期為二零一零年八月二十日至九月十日。有關詳情及申請辦法，請參閱輔導處報告板、瀏覽書院網頁或逕向書院輔導處查詢。


　
College Scholarships for 2010-2011

Applications will be invited for the following awards:

(1) United College Whole-person Education Admission Scholarships Scheme
In order to encourage students with different talents and expertise to pursue studies in United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, United College has established "United College Whole-person Education Admission Scholarships Scheme", awards include the followings:
  • Sports Admission Scholarships
    The Sports Admission Scholarships are established to recognise year-one students who have achieved high standards in the performance of sports activities as well as to encourage them to further develop these potentials at the United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. There are three awards, in the amount of HK$10,000 each. The Scholarships are renewable provided that the awardees meet the renewal requirements.
  • Dr Thomas Chen Si Yuan Social Service Admission Scholarships
    The Dr Thomas Chen Si Yuan Social Service Admission Scholarships are established to give recognition to year-one students who have made outstanding contributions in social services whilst in high school and to encourage them to join the United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. There are three awards, in the amount of HK$10,000 each. The Scholarships are renewable provided that the awardees meet the renewal requirements.
  • Innovation and Culture Admission Scholarships
    The Innovation and Culture Admission Scholarships are established to recognise year-one students of United College who have shown talents and capacity for creativity in the arts and culture as well as to encourage them to further develop these potentials at the United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. There are three awards, in the amount of HK$10,000 each.

(2) First-in-the-Family Tertiary Education Admission Scholarships
To encourage students of United College who are the first generation in the family to pursue tertiary education at United College of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the College has established "First-in-the-Family Tertiary Education Admission Scholarship". There are 100 awards in an amount of HK$2,500 each.
The application period for the above awards is from 20 August 2010 to 10 September 2010. For further details, please refer to the announcements on the College notice-boards, the College website or enquire at the Dean of Students' Office.


　
學生宿舍消息

本年度獲配宿位的宿生請於2010年9月4日（星期六）下午1時至6時，攜同學生證及近照兩幀，到有關宿舍辦理入宿手續。書院將於中午12時至下午6時於大學港鐵站安排專車接載同學入宿。

未能如期入宿者，必須於最少兩個工作天前以書面向舍監申請延期入宿，否則將作放棄宿位論。詳情請參閱有關通告或親臨學生輔導處查詢。

　
Hostel News

Hostel residents for the academic year 2010-2011 are advised to check-in at their respective hostels between 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, 4 September 2010. Residents should bring their student identity cards and two recent photos for registration. Special coach service will be arranged by the College from 12:00 noon to
6:00 pm on that day.

Residents who are unable to check-in at the scheduled time should apply in writing to the respective wardens for late check-in at least two working days in advance. Failure to do so may mean cancellation of the hostel places allocated. For further information, please refer to the College notice boards or contact the Dean of Students' Office.

　
2010-2011年度新生住宿申請

2010-2011年度聯合書院新生住宿現已開始接受申請。同學可於辦公時間內往書院學生輔導處索取申請表格或在書院網頁http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc下載。填妥之申請表須於2010年8月18日中午12時前交回書院學生輔導處，逾期或資料不足之申請概不受理。

　
Applications for the 2010-2011 Regular-term Residence (Freshmen)

Application forms of the 2010-2011 regular-term residence of the College's student hostels are now available for new students at the Dean of Students’ Office, United College. Application form can also be downloaded from the College website http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc. Completed forms should be submitted to the same office on or before 12:00 noon on 18 August 2010. Late applications will not be considered.

　
陳震夏宿舍外牆翻新及改裝工程

陳震夏宿舍外牆翻新及重新調配空間以增加宿位的工程已於暑假期間順利完成。陳宿在新學年將以全新面貌出現，可提供的宿位數目亦將增至327個。

　
Repainting and Spatial Re-organisation of Chan Chun Ha Hostel

The re-painting and spatial re-organisation works in the Chun Ha Hostel have just been completed. Beginning this academic year, not only will there be a spanking new look fronting the Chan Chun Ha Hostel but the number of its places will increased 327.

　
2010-2011年度聯合書院校外住宿助學金

校外住宿助學金旨在提供校外住宿資助予有經濟困難，而又未能成功申請在校內住宿的聯合書院同學，在港鐵東鐵沿綫租住較現行家庭住址更接近大學校園的地方，以鼓勵同學積極參與校園書院活動，並爭取學習時間，以提升學業成績。有關計劃詳情及申請表格，請瀏覽書院網頁，申請日期為2010年8月9日至9月30日，新生可於校內宿位公布結果後提出申請。查詢請致電書院學生輔導處2609 7575 / 2696 1750。

學生亦可登入及瀏覽大學學生事務處「校外住宿資訊網」(www.cuhk.edu.hk/hk/osa/incoming.htm)，參考租住校外房屋的資訊。

　
United College Off-campus Residence Grant 2010-2011

This College Off-campus Residence Grant Scheme provides financial support to needy students who have not been assigned a residential place on the University campus, to rent a place off-campus temporarily, along the Mass Transit Railway System (East Rail Line).rented place should be closer to the University compared with the family residence, to facilitate the applicant to participate in College life, for advancement in academic performance and for better participation in various activities on campus. For scheme details and application form, please refer to the College website. The application period is 9 August to 30 September 2010. New students can apply for the grant after the release of application result of a residential place on the university campus. 新生輔導營

本年度聯合書院新生輔導營將於2010年8月25至28日在書院校園舉行，主題為「聯俠列傳」。籌委會希望透過四日三夜的新生輔導營令新生體驗書院優秀突出的一面，協助同學發掘潛能，加強同學對書院歸屬感，從而在修業期間創造自我的傳奇。查詢請致電 6304 6319與書院新生輔導營籌委會主席麥樂陶同學聯絡。

　
Orientation Camp

The 2010 United College Orientation Camp will be held on the College campus from 25 to 28 August 2010.theme of the camp is “United Folklores”. Through the four-day-three-night camp, the Organising Committee expects that freshmen could feel the strengths and characteristics of United College, and facilitate the freshmen to explore their potentials and develop their sense of belonging towards the College. In the end, all participants can write up their own stories of the undergraduate years. 2010-2011年度聯合書院岑才生學長計劃

由聯合書院及聯合書院校友會合辦，並獲書院校董會主席岑才生先生贊助之「2010至2011年度聯合書院岑才生學長計劃」現已開始接受報名。學長計劃旨在提供機會讓書院校友與在校同學互相認識，透過一對一的交流模式，建立友誼，分享生活及工作體驗，從而提高在校同學的心智發展，擴闊視野，增強自信，改善溝通技巧。本計劃亦設有海外學長，讓參與國際交換計劃的同學能透過當地校友學長的輔導，在文化及生活方面得到更大的幫助。

報名表格可往聯合書院曾肇添樓學生輔導處索取或在書院網頁http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/mentorship 下載。填妥之報名表須於2010年9月10日或以前交回書院學生輔導處。

面試將安排於2010年9月16日下午進行。遴選結果將於9月30日在書院網頁公佈，另申請人將透過電子郵件獲通知遴選結果。

United College Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme 2010-2011

Applications are now invited for the UC Shum Choi Sang Mentorship Programme 2010-2011. This Programme, jointly organized by United College and the United College Alumni Association, is sponsored by Mr Shum Choi-sang, Chairman of the College Board of Trustees. The main purpose of the Programme is to foster a mentoring relationship between and undergraduate students of the College. Through this mentoring, it is anticipated that students will be able to build up self-confidence, develop good ethics and communication skills, and enhance their knowledge beyond mere book-learning. The Programme will also recruit overseas mentors to provide support to students planning to participate in exchange programmes. Their contact and communications will be mainly by electronic means.

Application forms can be obtained from the Dean of Students’ Office, Tsang Shiu Tim Building, United College or downloaded from the College Website http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/mentorship. Completed forms should be submitted to the same office on or before 10 September 2010.

Interviews will be held in the afternoon of 16 September 2010. The selection results will be announced on the College website on 30 September 2010. Applicants will also be notified of the results by email.

　
聯合書院國際演講會

聯合書院國際演講會自2005年9月正式成立以來，致力訓練聯合同學公開演講的能力及技巧。同學透過定期參與會議，嘗試一連串有系統的練習，訓練英語演講技巧及即席演講的應變能力。同學亦可同時學習對其他參加者的演講作出有效的評價。現時合共有四十一位聯合同學註冊成為會員。

聯合書院國際演講會將於2010年9月20日（星期一）晚上6時45分於聯合書院鄭棟材樓UCC2講室舉行示範會議，聯合書院國際演講會邀得多位極富經驗的國際演講會資深會員到場指導。

United College Toastmasters Club

Since September 2005, United College Toastmasters Club (UCTMC) has strived to improve English speaking skills and standards among United College students. At Toastmasters meetings, members have the opportunity to learn by speaking in groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Members receive systematic trainings on impromptu speaking and public speaking through practice and feedback from their fellow club members. At present, 41 United College students have registered as members of the Club.
　
The Demonstration Meeting for recruiting new members will be held on Monday, 20 September 2010 at 6:45 pm at UCC2, T C Cheng Building, United College. Experienced Toastmasters will attend the demo meeting and coach members on public speaking skills.

邁進地球村系列

暑期法語及文化考察團
二十五名書院同學於2010年5月29日至6月11日前往法國里昂天主教大學修讀一個為期兩星期共三學分的基礎法語課程。修讀語文課程外，同學亦透過不同的文化考察活動，加深對當地文化的認識。

美國首都華盛頓考察團
二十名本院同學於2010年6月5日至19日期間出訪美國華盛頓, 透過參觀及訪問等活動, 以加深對美國的政治制度、社會面貌及環境保護等多方面的認識。本計劃由聯合書院與港美中心合辦。

澳洲悉尼大學暑期課程
本院共二十一名同學由學術顧問教育行政與政策學系何瑞珠教授陪同下，於2010年6月13至27日前往澳洲悉尼大學修讀有關環境保護及持續發展課程。

香港中文大學—復旦大學《2010上海世博會考察活動》
聯合書院挑選了八位聯合同學參加香港中文大學及上海復旦大學合辦的《2010上海世博會考察活動》，於2010年5月24日至30日前往上海考察七天。成功完成計劃的同學，可獲書院頒贈獎學金。

　
Globe-Oriented Active Learning (GOAL) Programme

French Culture and Language Programme at Lyon, France
25 students of the College attended a credit bearing intensive French course from 29 May to 11 June 2010 at the Universite Catholique de Lyon, France. Apart from attending language courses, the programme also includes some sight seeing and excursion activities to enable students to gain a better understanding of the French culture.

Travel Study Programme to Washington, DC area
20 students of the College visited Washington, DC from 5 to 19 June 2010 to learn about the main theme of “After Copenhagen: Environment, Energy and the Politics of a Green Economy in America”. The programme is jointly organised by United College and Hong Kong America Centre.

Summer Programme at the University of Sydney, Australia
21 students of College accompanied by Professor Esther S C Ho, Department of Education Administration and Policy, attended a summer course at the University of Sydney in Australia from 13 – 27 June 2010. The main theme of the course is " Environmental Sustainability: Global and Regional Perspectives".

CUHK and Fudan University “2010 Shanghai Expo Study Programme”
The College selected eight students to attend a seven-day Travel Study Programme to Shanghai World Expo co-organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Fudan University in May 2010.Upon satisfactory completion of the programme, students will receive a scholarship from the College.

　
馮燊均先生全人發展獎勵計劃接受報名

本計劃蒙馮燊均先生資助，目標在於鼓勵同學透過參與及投入學術和非形式教育活動，積極及有系統地安排個人全面發展。主要發展範疇包括德、智、體、群、美。參加者如能在畢業前獲得 三十分或以上，或在一學年內取得二十分，均可獲得書券及證書，以作鼓勵。2010至11年度的登記日期為2010年9月20日至30日，有關計劃內容及報名詳情，可瀏覽計劃網址 http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson 。查詢請致電2609 7455與本院林偉源先生或楊頌妍女士聯絡。

　
Mr Fung Sun Kwan Whole Person Development Award Programme Opens for Application

This Programme is supported by Mr Fung Sun-kwan, and is designed to encourage students to take active and systematic steps to pursue whole person development through participation and involvement in academic as well as non-formal educational activities.five core areas include ethical, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic development.will be assigned to various activities under these areas. Participants will be awarded book coupons and certificates when the scoring reach 30 points or above before graduation or 20 points in an individual academic year. 語文改善計劃2010年度秋季課程

Language Improvement Project ―Autumn 2010

The Autumn 2010 courses of the College's Language Improvement Project (LIP) are open for application from 6 to 15 September 2010. To cater for the needs of different students, the College will offer daytime Putonghua courses with priority being given to non-resident students. 學生生活約章

Student Life Charter

Organised by the Taskforce on Students' Well-being and sponsored by the College's Mr Shum Wai-yau Moral Education Scheme, the Student Life Charter was launched in 2008 and received positive feedback from College students.The scheme aims at helping students to set up their personal objectives of their university life and learning.The Charter contents have been recently revised by the Taskforce, and it is now available for signing online at www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/studentcharter.The College encourages all students to sign this Charter, and it will be a recognized activity of the United College Mr Fung Sun-kwan Whole Person Development Award Programme (www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/wholeperson).For questions, please contact Ms Kitty Ho of the Dean of Students' Office at 2609 7570.
