本院刊物《聯合邁進》第八期將於2011年2月底出版，並以「向高錕教授伉儷致敬」為該期主題。

Distinguished Laureate: Welcoming Dinner cum
Release of United We Advance Issue 8

Professor Charles K Kao has recently been
appointed Distiguished Laureate, United College.
A special edition of “United We Advance”
featuring “A Tribute to Professor and Mrs
Charles K Kao” will be published in end February
2011 in recognition of the contributions of both
Professor and Mrs Charles K Kao.
The Welcome Dinner for Professor and Mrs Charles
K Kao will be held on Friday, 25 February 2011
at 7:00 pm in the Staff Common Room, 3/F, Cheung
Chuk Shan Amenities Building on United College
campus. All staff members of the College are
welcome to join. The fee for the Dinner is
HK$200 per person. If you require further
information about the Dinner, feel free to

(1) 中國語言及文學系張雙慶教授於2010年8月8日至
12日，出席在中國寧夏舉行之第四屆西北方言與民俗國際學術研討會會議，並發表論文一篇。
(2)
生命科學學院朱利民教授於2010年10月12日至16日，出席在中國上海舉行之第二屆工程廢棄物資源化與應用研究國際會議
(ICWEM 2010)會議，並發表論文一篇。
(3)
體育運動科學系夏秀禎教授於2010年10月26日至29日，出席在西班牙拉科魯尼亞舉行之2010國際體育高等教育課程協會大會會議，並發表論文一篇。
(4)
藥劑學院李詠恩教授於2010年11月6日至9日，出席在捷克布拉格舉行之第十三屆藥物經濟暨效果研學會究歐洲年會會議，並發表論文一篇。

International Conference Grant Scheme |
In the 2nd round allocation of the International
Conference Grant for 2010-2011, the College
granted $23,660 to subsidise 14 staff members to
attend international conferences as follows:
(1) Professor Chang Song-hing of Department of
Chinese Language and Literature was invited to
attend and
present a paper at the Fourth International
Conference on Folklore and Northwest Dialects
held in Ningxia, China from 8 to 12 August 2010.
(2) Professor Chu Lee-man of School of Life
Sciences was invited to attend and present a
paper at the 2nd
International Conference on Waste Engineering
and Management (ICWEM 2010) held in Shanghai,
China from 12 to 16 October 2010.
(3) Professor Amy S C Ha of Department of Sports
Science and Physical Education was invited to
attend and present a paper at the Congress of
the International Asociation of Physical
Education in Higher Education (AIESEP) held in A
Coruna, Spain from 26 to 29 October 2010.
(4) Professor Vivian W Y Lee of School of
Pharmacy was invited to attend and present a
paper at the 13th Annual European Congress of
the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics
and Outcomes Research held in Prague, Czech
Republic from 6 to 9 November 2010.
(5) Professor Chor Sin-yee of School of Public
Health and Primary Care was invited to attend
and present a paper at the Lancet Conferences:
HPV and Cancer 2010 held in Amsterdam,
Netherlands from 12 to 13 November 2010.
(6) Professor Nicole W T Cheung of Department of
Sociology was invited to attend and present a
paper at the Annual Meeting of American Society
of Criminology held in San Francisco,
California, USA from 17 to 20 November 2010.
(7) Professor Stephen Robert Nagy of Department
of Japanese Studies was invited to attend and
present a paper at the Asia Pacific Conference,
Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference of
the International Association for Asia Pacific
Studies (IAAPS) held in Beppu, Japan from 20 to
21 November 2010.
(8) Professor Anthony Y H Fung of School of
Journalism and Communication was invited to
attend and present a paper at the Japanese
Association for the Study of Popular Music held
in Tokyo, Japan from 27 to 28 November 2010.
(9) Professor Cao Jie of Department of Finance
was invited to attend and present a paper at the
2010 International
Conference on Finance held in Taipei, Taiwan
from 9 to 11 December 2010.
(10) Mr John H W Lai of Department of Management
was invited to attend and present a paper at the
2010 Asia Academy of Management Conference held
in Macau from 12 to 14 December 2010.
(11) Dr Tang Wai-chung of Department of Computer
Science and Engineering was invited to attend
and present a paper at the 16th Asia and South
Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASPOAC
2011) held in Yokohama, Japan from 25 to 28
January 2011.
(12) Mr Ip Kin-ho of Department of Japanese
Studies was invited to attend and present a
paper at the Asian Identities: Trends in a
Globalized World held in Bangkok, Thailand from
9 to 11 February 2011.
(13) Professor Vishal Jhanji of Department of
Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences was invited to
attend and present a paper at the Asia Pacific
Academy of Ophthalmology held in Sydney,
Australia from 20 to 24 March 2011.
(14) Professor Wang Qian of Department of
Psychology was invited to attend and present a
paper at the Society for research in Child
Development Biennial Meeting held in Montreal,
Canada from 31 March to 2 April 2011.

「聯合苑」落成卅五周年慶祝會 |
聯合書院教職員宿舍「聯合苑」自1975年2月落成入伙，轉瞬間已卅五年。適逢今年亦為聯合書院五十五周年紀念，為誌其盛，書院教職員宿舍管理委員會謹定於2011年2月26日（星期六）上午11時正在屋苑B2單位舉行盛大慶祝會，並誠邀現居於該處或曾入住於該處的同寅攜同子孫出席參加。當日節目有：
✿ 「龍騰兔躍」——聯合書院國術會同學負責醒獅表演，以示喜慶。
✿ 「美食分享」——書院會預備豐富美食予大家分享，與眾同享。

United College Staff
Residence 35th Anniversary Celebration |
United College Staff Residence will celebrate
its 35th anniversary this year. Former and
current tenants as well as friends of the
Residence are invited to a reunion party to be
held on Saturday, 26 February 2011 at 11 am in
Flat B2. It will be a day to have lot of fun and
bring back many fond memories.
Programmes include:
✿ 「Dragon Dance」-performed by UC Kung Fu Club
✿ 「Food Sharing」-delicious food will be prepared
and shared for all.
