中大校園交通規劃2012簡報會已於2011年2月10日晚上假湯若望宿舍禮堂順利舉行。當晚由大學協理副校長馮通教授主講，為聯合書院同學簡介校園交通規劃原則及大綱、交通現況及課堂安排、巴士路線規劃及道路改善工程等。

Transport Planning for CUHK 2012 had been
successfully held in the evening on 10 February
2011 in Adam Schall Hall. Professor Fung Tung,
the University Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor,
briefed UC students about the future development
and planning of The Chinese University of Hong
Kong, covering planning principles and
framework, traffic situation and class
scheduling, bus route planning and road
improvement.

書院聚會 —— 「邁進地球村系列」學生活動分享會
|
聯合書院於2011年1月28日假大學邵逸夫堂舉行書院聚會，並邀請曾參與下列學生活動的同學作分享：
*暑期法語及文化考察團
*澳洲悉尼大學暑期課程
*美國首都華盛頓考察團
各組同學運用大量相片及影片作分享介紹，台下同學反應熱烈。
在書院時間環節中，院長馮國培教授頒發2010年度「能源智叻星宿舍能源節約比賽——廖秀冬盃」予伯利衡宿舍同時，在聚會上書院亦歡迎本年度下學期新教職成員。
此外，中大協理副校長馮通教授亦於是次書院聚會中向同學講解「中大校園規劃2012」。

The College Assembly -“GOAL Programme Series”
Sharing by Students was held on 28 January 2011,
at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The sharing was made
by students participated in the following
programmes last year:
*French Culture and Language Programme at Lyon,
France
*Summer Programme at the University of Sydney,
Australia
*Travel Study Programme to Washington, DC area
The presentations with a great number of photos
and video clips, together with students’
elaboration, was well received by the audience.
Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head, presented
the “Energy Wise Award-Sarah Liao Cup 2010” to
the Bethlehem Hall. At the same occasion,
Professor Fung welcomed new teaching and
non-teaching staff members in the second term of
2010-2011 at the Assembly.
Moreover, Professor Fung Tung, Associate
Pro-Vice-Chancellor, CUHK also briefed students
on Transport Planning for CUHK 2012 at the
Assembly.

書院校友講座
|
為增進同學與校友間的聯繫，由2005年起，書院與書院校友會合辦一系列的「聯合書院校友講座」，邀請在社會上各行各業有卓越成就的校友與在校的師弟師妹們分享他們在事業上、人生旅途上的各種經歷與體會。校友講座以高桌晚宴形式舉行，讓聯合同學在輕鬆的環境下與主講校友嘉賓交流認識。
校友講座的第十一講已於2011年2月16日晚上假聯合書院張祝珊師生康樂大樓三樓文怡閣舉行，書院邀請得1992年工商管理學院校友，瑞士銀行集團蘇黎士總行香港國際部行政董事高平校友擔任主講嘉賓，以「金融專業：如何掌握機會？如何理財？」為講題，與聯合同學分享她的心得。

UC Alumni Talk

From 2005, the College and the Alumni
Association have jointly organised a series of
alumni talks for students. Distinguished alumni
from all walks of life are invited to share with
fellow students on their career and life
experiences. The Alumni Talk is organised in the
format of high table dinner, providing students
and alumni a relaxing atmosphere for learning
and communication.
The eleventh Alumni Talk was held on 16 February
2011 at the Staff Common Room, 3/F, Cheung Chuk
Shan Amenities Building, United College. The
College invited Ms Cynthia Ko, Executive
Director, Hong Kong International, UBS AG, to
share with UC students on the topic of "
Finance as a Profession: How to
Seize Opportunities? How to Manage Your Own
Money?". Ms Ko is a 1992 United College alumnus
who majored in Business Administration.

書院聚會——獎學金得獎人講座系列: 陳曾燾博士獎學金得獎人講座
|
|
2011年2月18日，書院假李兆基樓一樓六號講堂舉行「獎學金得獎人講座」。書院蒙 「陳曾燾博士獎學金」得獎人梁晶校友及陳詩雅校友擔任演講嘉賓。梁校友現在於中大中醫學院擔任教學及科研任務。另外陳校友是大學中醫學院導師及教學診所的註冊中醫師。她們以「香港中醫蘗現況」為題，與四百多位同學分享她們畢業後的工作經驗，並藉此機會向捐獎人陳曾燾博士致謝。

A “Lecture Series of Scholarship Recipients - Dr
Thomas T T Chen Scholarship Recipient Lecture”
was held on 18 February 2011, at Lecture Theatre
6, Lee Shau Kee Building. The College was
honored to have our alumni Dr Liong Ching,
instructor and scientific researcher of the
School of Chinese Medicine, and Ms Chan Sze-nga,
instructor of the School of Chinese Medicine and
registered Chinese Medicine practitioner at the
teaching clinic of the School, to be the guest
speakers to share their working experience with
over 400 students. They expressed heartfelt
their gratitudes to the donor, Dr Thomas T T
Chen.

書院聚會——「從六十後的學生參與談起」
|
2011年2月21日書院假大學邵逸夫堂舉行書院聚會。書院蒙 本院校友香港中文大學社會工作學系黃洪教授(84/社工)擔任演講嘉賓，以「從六十後的學生參與談起」為題，與一千三百多位同學分享他多年來從事社會工作教育的寶貴經驗和體會，以及分享個人對本地貧窮、社會保障、就業等問題的看法。
同日的聚會上，舉行了「聯合書院學生會候選內閣諮詢會」，並於會後開展有關投票。

College Assembly - Student Participation of
Post-60s’
|
A College Assembly was held on 21 February 2011
at Sir Run Run Shaw Hall. The College was
honored to have College alumnus, Professor Wong
Hung (84/SWK), Department of Social Work to be
the guest speaker with the topic Student
Participation of Post-60s’. Professor Wong Hung
shared with the audience his valuable working
experience in social work education. In
particular, he shared his point of views related
to local poverty, social security and
employment. The speech was well received by over
1300 students attending the College Assembly.
At the same occasion, a “consultation Session
for the Cabinet Standing for Election of the
United College Student Union Executive
Committees” was held. The election started right
after the Assembly.

此外，書院亦致送「致賀狀」予獲「黃耀曾金屬有機化學獎」的化學系謝作偉教授及獲「2010年晨興數學銀獎」的數學系魏軍城教授。另馮院長亦頒發「致賀狀」予環球商業學趙舜茹同學及葉梓聰同學，以鼓勵兩位同學榮獲「大專聯校商業管理挑戰賽2010」冠軍。

Activities was held on 4 March 2011 at Sir Run
Run Shaw Hall. The sharing was made by students
participated in the following student activities

The presentation with a great number of photos
and video clips, together with a demonstration
of toastmasters meeting, was well received by
the audience.
In this College Assembly, congratulation
certificates were presented by the Professor
Fung Kwok-pui, College Head to Professor Xie
Zuowei, Department of Chemistry and Professor
Wei Juncheng, Department of Mathematics.
Professor Xie was awarded the Chinese Chemical
Society Huang Yao-zeng Award in Organometallic
Chemistry, while Professor Wei was awarded the
2010 Morningside Silver Medal of
Mathematics.Congratulation certificates were
also presented to Global Business students Ms
Bonnie S Y Chiu and Mr Alan T C Yip who won the
Championship at the “Joint University Business
Management Challenge 2010”

本學年最後一次的「師生共膳計劃」已於2011年2月23日晚上假書院學生飯堂舉行，逾一百名聯合書院師生參與是次的共膳晚宴，師生互相交流，場面熱鬧。

United College Dinner
|
The last United College Dinner of this academic
year was held on 23 February 2011 at the College
Student Canteen. The event was well received by
over 100 staff and students of United College.

聯合書院合唱團正式成立
|
聯合書院合唱團已於本年2月成立，合唱團旨在提升聯合書院同學的藝術修養、堅毅和團隊精神並成為聯合書院具代表性的團隊之一。合唱團現時有二十六位員，並於書院不同場合演出。

|
The United College Choir was established in
February 2011. The choir aims at nurturing
students with perseverance and team work by
means of a collective artistic activity. 26
members have joined the choir, with performance
at various forthcoming events of the College.

邁進地球村系列2011消息
|
1. 日本範氏基金青年高峯會
聯合書院與日本範氏基金將於本年8月合辦青年高峯會以慶祝書院五十五周年及日本範氏基金成立五周年。來自亞洲其他地區包括香港、日本、上海、泰國、菲律賓及印度共二十八名同學將於8月20至27日期間齊集香港中文大學，不同地區的同學們將分成4組並以「人類的生存空間」為專題作學術研究。
日本範氏基金青年高峯會為書院邁進地球村系下之新計劃，現正接受院內同學報名，截止報名日期為2010年3月21日。
2. 林宜龍內地實習獎勵計劃
林宜龍內地實習獎勵計劃旨在資助本院同學參與由大學學生事務處所舉辦的「寰宇暑期實習計劃2011——內地部份」，截止報名日期為2010年4月21日。

1. Kamenori Foundation Youth Summit (KEYS)
To celebrate the 55th Anniversary of United
College and the 5th Anniversary of the Kamenori
Foundation, the College and the Foundation will
co-organise a Youth Summit from 20th to 27th
August 2011 in the Chinese University of Hong
Kong. 28 students from six Asian countries
including Hong Kong, Japan, Shanghai,
Philippines, Thailand and India will form
themselves into 4 groups to conduct academic
research on the main theme of Survival of
Humankind.
This new Youth Summit under the College GOAL
Programme is now open for application.Deadline
of application is 21 March 2011.
2. Lam Yee Lung Wade China Employment Award
Scheme
This Award Scheme is set up to provide financial
support to students to participate in the
“Global Internship Programme 2010-Mainland Part”
organised by the Office of Student Affairs.
Deadline of application is 21 April 2011.

聯合書院與台灣清華大學現正合辦第十八屆萌芽學者學術交流計劃。台灣清華大學萌芽學者學術交流團將由該校副校長葉銘泉教授率領下於2011年4月3日至12日到訪書院，參加由本院基金會贊助之萌芽學者學術交流計劃。台灣清華大學萌芽學者定於4月7日下午4時30
分於何善衡工程大樓王統元堂舉行專題研討會，報告專題為「科技應用對年輕人生活的影響」。歡迎師生出席。

the 18th Budding Scholars Exchange Scheme.
Budding scholars from National Tsing Hua
University lead by their Vice President,
Professor Yip Ming-chuen, will visit United
College from 3 to 12 April 2011.Budding Scholars
from National Tsing Hua University will present
a research report titled Impact of IT
Technologies on the Youth's Styles of Living at
a public seminar on 7 April 2011 at 4:30 pm at
the T Y Wong Hall, Ho Sin-Hang Engineering

March 2011. The camps are free of charge with
limited quota, on a first-come-first-served
basis. Deposit in the amount of HK$350 is
refundable after the completion of the programme.

本院第四十九屆學生會幹事會選舉已於2011年2月21至25日進行投票，並於2月25日下午4時30分，在院長馮國培教授、輔導長王香生教授、院務主任李雷寶玲女士及學生會選舉委員會監察下，於學生休息室進行點票。
是次選舉共有七百一十一位同學投票，佔學生會會員總人數百分之二十四點八。其中對唯一候選內閣「聯曙」投信任票者共六百四十三人，不信任票者三十九人，棄權票者二十二人，另廢票七張。結果「聯曙」順利當選，由3月1日起正式出任第四十九屆學生會幹事會。新幹事會成員名單如下：

The 49th United College Student Union Executive
Committee election was held from 21 to 25
February 2011.The ballots were opened and
counted on 25 February 2011 at 4:30 pm at the
Student Common Room under the supervision of
Professor Fung Kwok Pui, College Head, Professor
Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students, Mrs
Christina Li, College Secretary and the ad hoc
Elections Committee of United College Student
Union. A total of 711 students (24.8%) had cast
their votes in the election. “Shinion” the only
cabinet standing for election, was elected the
49th United College Student Union Executive
Committee by 643 votes to 39, with 22
abstentions and 7 invalid ballots. The
newly-elected office-bearers have assumed office
on 1 March 2011.Their names and positions are as

校外住宿助學金旨在提供校外住宿資助予有經濟困難，而又未能成功申請在校內住宿的聯合書院同學，在港鐵東鐵沿綫租住較現行家庭住址更接近大學校園的地方，以鼓勵同學積極參與校園書院活動，並爭取學習時間，以提升學業成績。此計劃並不影響同學輪候或上訴申請校內宿舍機會。
本計劃只接受2010-2011年度聯合書院校內住宿申請候補名單上的同學提出申請，即2010-2011年度內未能成功申請在校內住宿的聯合同學。
2010-2011年度的助學金每個金額為一千三百元正，申請同學全年上、下學期最多可獲資助兩個獎額。($1,300
x 2 = $2,600)
書院全年接受申請。本計劃由書院輔導長主持之工作小組審批。評審主要標準包括：（一） 申請同學之經濟狀況;（二） 申請同學之學業成績。

UC Off-campus
Residence Grant 2010-2011
|
This Grant Scheme provides financial support to
needy students who have not been assigned a
hostel place on the University campus, to rent a
residential place off-campus temporarily, along
the Mass Transit Railway System (East Rail
Line). The rented place should be closer to the
University when compared with the family
residence, to facilitate the applicant to
participate in College life, for advancement in
academic performance and for better
participation in various activities on campus.
United College students on the waiting list of
hostel residence application of 2010-2011 are
welcome to apply. (i.e. those who have not been
assigned a residential place on the University
Campus.). This application will not affect the
chance of waiting or appealing for a hostel
place.
The amount of each grant for 2010-2011 is
HK$1,300. For each applicant, a maximum of two
grants may be allocated for the 1st Term and 2nd
Term of the academic year.(i.e. HK$1,300 x 2 =
HK$2,600)
Application is open on a year-round basis. The
selection panel is chaired by the Dean of
Students. The main considerations
are:(1) Financial Situation of Applicants &
(2) Academic Performance of Applicants

由書院學生會及六舍堂合辦的「校長夜話在聯合」於2月22日(星期二)晚上於湯若望宿舍禮堂舉行，邀得校長沈祖堯教授擔任嘉賓。當天晚上，大學輔導長吳基培教授及學生事務處處長梁汝照先生均撥冗出席，並由院長馮國培教授、輔導長王香生教授、通識教育主任余濟美教授、院務主任李雷寶玲女士、湯若望宿舍舍監麥陳淑賢教授、伯利衡宿舍舍監陳德有博士、陳震夏宿舍舍監李詠恩教授、恆生樓舍監黃安東先生及秉芬堂堂監鄧麗暚教授等陪同，約一百位同學出席。沈校長向同學講解他未來的工作方向，包括邀請大師講學，弘揚中國文化；成立環境和能源可持績發展研究所；增設研究地球系統的課程及推動學生參與社會服務等。他亦勉勵同學要開闊眼界，多關心社會事務及參與非形式教育活動，不要錯過大學階段的學習和服務機會。

The “Vice-Chancellor’s Night Talk at UC”
organised by the College Student Union and the
six Hall Associations was held on Tuesday, 22
February 2011 at the Adam Schall Hall. Professor
Joseph J Y Sung, Vice-Chancellor and President
of the University, was invited as the honorable
guest of the talk. The presence of Professor
Dennis K P Ng, University Dean of Students and
Mr Raymond Y C Leung, Director of Student
Affairs Office also graced the occasion.

to widen their exposure, put more time in caring
the society and participating in non-formal
education activities.

Affairs” organised by the College Student Union
and the six Hall Associations was held on
Thursday, 24 February 2011 at the 10/F Lobby of
Chan Chun Ha Hostel. Professor Fung Kwok-pui,
College Head, was invited as the honorable guest
of the talk, and accompanied by Professor
Stephen H S Wong, Dean of Students. The presence

use of campus space and facilities.

February 2011. Mr Raymond K T Cheung, donor of

A new initiative of the United College Shum Choi
Sang Mentorship Programme - Mentors' Lecture
Series has been launched in 2010-11. Mentors
from different background will be invited to
share their experience with mentees. The first
talk was hosted by Mr Peter Chan, a mentor of
this Programme, on 3 March 2011 in the Si Yuan
Amenities Centre. The topic was on how to become
an outstanding university student.

Programme Sharing Session was held on Saturday,
26 February 2011 at Lake Egret Nature Park, Tai
Po to strengthen the relationship between
mentors and mentees. Nearly 100 mentors and
mentees participated in the sharing session and
enjoyed the activities and barbecue on the day.

「聯合書院岑才生學長計劃——網上互動」啟動儀式
|
「聯合書院岑才生學長計劃——網上互動」啟動儀式已於2011年2月18日順利舉行。
聯合書院岑才生學長計劃是由書院及書院校友會於2000年起攜手創辦，一直以來得到書院校董會主席岑才生先生慷慨贊助經費。本計劃透過為期一年的學長與學員配對組合，讓書院校友與在校同學互相交流，分享工作及生活體驗，從而提高在校同學的心智發展、擴闊視野、培養他們的道德意識、改善溝通技巧及增強自信。「海外學長計劃」由2003年起增設，讓參與海外交流活動的聯合同學也可以獲得當地校友學長的輔導和協助。
為配合近年大學及書院積極鼓勵同學參與外地交流學習，學長計劃統籌委員會將於2011年推出「網上海外學長計劃」，希望為更多參加外地交換計劃的學員提供適時及有用的資訊。這項新構思與現行「海外學長計劃」的最大分別是學員和海外學長主要以電郵互通消息，而參加的海外學長亦毋須在聯合書院畢業八年或以上。此項計劃每年由五月開始，至翌年四月完結。有關「網上海外學長計劃」的報名詳情將於稍後公佈。

Choi Sang Mentorship Programme - e-Mentorship

The Kick-off Ceremony of the United College Shum
Choi Sang E-Mentorship Programme took place on
18 February 2011.
With the generous financial support of Mr Shum
Choi-sang, the Chairman of the College Board of
Trustees, the United College Shum Choi Sang
Mentorship Programme, jointly organised by
United College and the United College Alumni
Association, was launched in 2000. The main
purpose of the Programme is to foster
a mentoring relationship between UC's alumni and
its cohort of undergraduate students. Through
this mentoring, it is anticipated that students
will be able to build up self-confidence,
develop good ethics and communication skills,
and enhance their knowledge beyond mere
book-learning. In 2003, the Programme was
expanded to include an overseas section whereby
students going on exchange can be paired up with
mentors in various countries of their visits.
In view of the increasing number of UC students
going on overseas exchanges and in line with
other developments on the exchange front of the
University and the College, the Mentorship
Programme Coordinating Committee will add to its
overseas section a new sector named e-Mentorship
in 2011. The main difference between Overseas
Mentorship and e-Mentorship is that e-mentors
provide guidance and support to students
studying abroad through e-communications.
Besides, e-mentors are not restricted to those
who have graduated from the College for eight
years or more. This new programme will run from
May to April in the following year. Application
details for the e-Mentorship Programme will be
announced soon.

「聯合書院張煊昌博士導修計劃——個人專業導修」啟動儀式
|
「聯合書院張煊昌博士導修計劃——個人專業導修」啟動儀式已於2011年2月18日順利舉行。
為協助同學們建立健康的社交生活和鼓勵學術交流，聯合書院於2008年3月推出「聯合書院張煊昌博士導修計劃」，建立網上平台「聯合講場」，讓同學們透過與資深書院導師及住校導師的交流，主動地發表意見，互相學習。導修計劃現時設有五個專題研習小組，由書院資深導師及住校導師帶領，以導修形式進行。參加者可以就指定的議題提出相關討論及舉辦活動，分享經驗和互相學習。
2011年更增設個人專業導修計劃，由資深書院導師、教職員及住校導師，根據個人的專長，為同學於不同領域推行個人專業導修，在學術、生活以至升學就業方面協助同學，使大學生活更添姿采。

The Kick-off Ceremony of the United College Dr
Thomas Cheung Tutorial Scheme - Personalised
Tutorial Kick-off Ceremony took place on 18
February 2011.
The United College Dr Thomas Cheung Tutorial
Scheme was established in March 2008 to
encourage exchanges amongst students of United
College, the Senior College Tutors and resident
tutors by interacting in an on-line forum. Five
focus learning groups were formed in this
academic year. These groups, with a number of
tutors serving as moderators, run on a yearly
basis. The participants can initiate discussions
and activities on a specific topic, share their
experiences and help each other in a tutorial
setting.
The Personalised Tutorial Scheme is newly
launched in 2011. Senior College Tutors,
academic staff and resident tutors provide
personalised tutorial according to their
expertise. The Scheme aims at helping students
through guidance and sharing in academic
pursuit, life experience and preparation for job
seeking and further studies, thus enriching
campus life of students.
