1. CUHK and Fudan University “2011 Fudan University Summer Camp” The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Fudan University are now jointly organising “2011 Fudan University Summer Camp”. United College will select 5 students to attend this programme from 23 to 29 May 2011. 2. Lam Yee Lung Wade China Employment Award Scheme This Award Scheme is set up to provide financial support to students to participate in the “Global Internship Programme 2010 - Mainland Part” organised by the Office of Student Affairs. ——網上互動」接受申請 |

為配合近年大學及書院積極鼓勵同學參與外地交流學習，聯合書院岑才生學長計劃統籌委員會將於2011-2012年度推出「網上海外學長計劃」，希望為更多參加外地交換計劃的同學提供適時及有用的資訊。這項新構思與現行「海外學長計劃」的最大分別是學員和海外學長主要以電郵互通消息，而參加的海外學長亦無須在聯合書院畢業八年或以上。此項計劃每年由5月開始，至翌年4月完結。 歡迎所有已成功申請由學術交流處、所屬學系或書院舉辦的半期或全年海外交換計劃的聯合同學報名參加，申請表格可往書院學生輔導處索取或於書院網頁下載(http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/mentorship)。填妥之申請表須於2011年4 月20日或以前交回書院學生輔導處。查詢請致電2609 8656與本院胡黃雪萍女士或2609 7582與吳寶珊女士聯絡。 |

| In view of the increasing
number of UC students going on overseas
exchanges and in line with other developments on
the exchange front of the University and the
College, the United College Shum Choi Sang
Mentorship Programme Coordinating Committee will
add to its overseas section a new sector named
e-mentorship in 2011-2012. The main difference
between Overseas Mentorship and e-Mentorship is
that e-mentors provide guidance and support to
students studying abroad through
e-communications only. Besides, e-mentors are
not restricted to those who have graduated from
the College for eight years or more. This new
programme will run from May to April in the
following year. All UC students who have been accepted for enrolment in a regular-term overseas exchange programme in 2011-2012 organised by the Office of Academic Links, or his/her academic departments or by the College are welcome to apply. Application forms can be obtained from the College Dean of Students’ Office or downloaded from the College Website http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/mentorship. 2010-2011年度聯合書院校外住宿助學金 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
校外住宿助學金旨在提供校外住宿資助予有經濟困難，而又未能成功申請在校內住宿的聯合書院同學，在港鐵東鐵沿綫租住較現行家庭住址更接近大學校園的地方，以鼓勵同學積極參與校園書院活動，並爭取學習時間，以提升學業成績。此計劃並不影響同學申請、輪候或上訴校內宿舍機會。 本計劃只接受2010-2011年度聯合書院校內住宿申請候補名單上的同學提出申請，即2010-2011年度內未能成功申請在校內住宿的聯合同學。 2010-2011年度的助學金每個金額為一千三百元正，申請同學全年上、下學期最多可獲資助兩個獎額。($1,300 x 2 = $2,600) 書院全年接受申請。本計劃由書院輔導長主持之工作小組審批。評審主要標準包括：（一） 申請同學之經濟狀況及（二） 申請同學之學業成績。 [聯合書院對審批此助學金保留最終決定權] |

UC Off-campus Residence Grant 2010-2011 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This Grant Scheme provides
financial support to needy students who have not
been assigned a hostel place on the University
campus, to rent a residential place off-campus
temporarily, along the Mass Transit Railway
System (East Rail Line). The rented place should
be closer to the University when compared with
the family residence, to facilitate the
applicant to participate in College life, for
advancement in academic performance and for
better participation in various activities on
campus. United College students on the waiting list of hostel residence application of 2010-2011 are welcome to apply.(i.e. those who have not been assigned a residential place on the University Campus.).This application will not affect the chance of waiting or appealing for a hostel place. The amount of each grant for 2010-2011 is HK$1,300. For each applicant, a maximum of two grants may be allocated for the 1st Term and 2nd Term of the academic year.(i.e. HK$1,300 x 2 = HK$2,600) Application is open on a year-round basis. The selection panel is chaired by the Dean of Students. The main considerations are:(1) Financial Situation of Applicants & (2) Academic Performance of Applicants [United College reserves the right to make the final decision in all matters related to this grant.] |

Lecture Series of Members of Chinese Academy of
Sciences and Members of Chinese Academy of
Engineering was held on 25 March 2011 at Sir Run
Run Shaw Hall. The College was honored to have
Professor Tang Ben-zhong, Member of Chinese
Academy of Sciences and Chair Professor of
Chemistry, The Hong Kong University of Science
and
Technology, as the
guest speaker with the topic Creative Thinking
and Systematic Approach in Scientific Research.
Professor Tang shared with the audience his
views and achievement in academic researches.
The enlightening talk was well received by over
1,300 United College students. |

| In order to promote healthy
school life and to encourage students to
participate in sports activities, the College organised a Hip Hop Dancing Class from 21 Feb to
23 March 2011.15 students participated in the
dancing class. The dancing class was well
received by participants. |

第六屆聯合書院馮國培院長盃 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
「第六屆聯合書院馮國培院長盃」從水運會和陸運會作序幕後，隨後一連串的球類比賽於2011年1月開始舉行並於3月完滿結束。這項大型運動比賽是聯合書院四個宿生會及兩個走讀生舍堂間之比賽，項目包括男子籃球、女子三人籃球、足球、排球、羽毛球、乒乓球和網球。經過多番熱烈的比賽後，今屆總冠軍再由恒生樓蟬聯，以五十五分成功衛冕，湯若望宿舍以五十三分獲得亞軍，季軍得主是獲得四十五分的陳震夏宿舍。各項比賽成績如下：

Following the United College
Annual Swimming Gala and Athletic Meet, the 6th
United College Fung Kwok Pui Cup was held
successfully from January to March 2011.This
large-scaled competition was competed among four
student hostels and 2 non-residential halls. The
competition events included Men’s Basketball,
Ladies’ 3 on 3 Basketball, Football, Volleyball,
Badminton, Table Tennis and Tennis. After three
months’ exciting competitions, Hang Seng Hall
won the overall champion again. They scored 55
points from 9 events. The 1st runners-up was
Adam Schall Residence and the 2nd runner-up was
Chan Chun Ha Hostel. Results of the competition
are as follows:

由書院及香港童軍總會合辦的書院通識科目GEUC2018【實踐領導才】，於3月24日正式完結，書院及香港童軍總會於當天分別向導師及學員派發證書和感謝狀。結業禮出席嘉賓為香港童軍總會助理香港總監 ( 產業 )李月芬博士、院長馮國培教授、通識教育主任余濟美教授、通識教育副主任張雙慶教授及院務主任李雷寶玲女士。 |

The College General Education elective course, GEUC2018 “Leadership in Practice”, jointly organised by the Scout Association of Hong Kong, ended on 24 March 2011, and a closing ceremony has been organised on that day. Certificates were presented to both instructors and students of the course by the Scout Association of Hong Kong. To encourage students with excellent performance in the College general education course, GEUC4011 "Senior Seminar" this year, the College has decided to give out $100 worth of book coupon to those 69 students nominated by their course supervisors. The awardees can collect their coupons during office hours from 15 April to 23 May 2011 at the Dean of Students' Office, Tsang Shiu Tim Building. The College would like to thank the College Endowment Fund Committee in sponsoring this award scheme. |

All final-year students holding lockers at United College are required to return the locker keys and complete the deposit refund process at the Dean of Students' Office during office hours on or before 20 May 2011. Locker deposits will be refunded to the bank accounts by the Bursary in due course. Failure on returning the locker key before deadline will result in deposit forfeiture. 台灣清華大學的萌芽學者學術交流團一行九人由該校副校長葉銘泉教授率領下，於2011年4月3至12日到訪聯合書院，並以「科技應用對年輕人生活的影響」為題舉行專題研討會。此外，為了加深交流團對香港的了解，交流團亦到訪校內單位如學術交流處(國內事務)和不同的政府機構及部門，包括香港科學園、香港貿易發展局、香港廉政公署、香港歷史博物館、孫中山先生紀念館及數碼港等。 |

A Budding scholar delegation from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan led by their Vice President, Professor Yip Ming-chuen, visited United College from 3 to 12 April 2011. The Budding Scholars from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan presented a research report titled Impact of IT Technologies on the Youth's Styles of Living. Apart from presenting their research findings, the delegation also visited different university departments such as the Office of Academic Links (China), government offices and organisations such as Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption, Hong Kong Museum of History, Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum and Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, etc. |
