| 聯合書院校外住宿助學金更切合同學需要 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
校外住宿助學金旨在提供校外住宿資助予有經濟困難，而又未能成功申請在校內住宿的聯合書院同學，租住較現行家庭住址更接近大學校園的地方，以鼓勵同學積極參與校園書院活動，並爭取學習時間，以提升學業成績。 書院最近放寬申請資格及增加資助金額： ＊ 2011至2012年度的助學金上限增加至五千二百元正(以9月起計每學年最多給予十個月的資助，每月五百二十元)。 ＊ 租住單位地區擴展至沙田、馬鞍山、大埔及北區。 申請日期: 全年接受申請 評審準則： 本計劃由書院輔導長主持之工作小組審批。評審主要標準包括： （一） 申請人之經濟狀況。 （二） 申請人之學業成績。 工作小組亦會因應個別的情況考慮審批申請。 請瀏覽書院網頁下載申請表：www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc [聯合書院對審批此助學金保留最終決定權] |

| United College Off-campus Residence Grant Meet the Need of Students | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This grant provides financial support to needy students who have not been assigned a hostel place on campus, to rent a place off-campus closer to the University compared with the family. It aims at facilitating the students to participate in College activities and striving excellence in study. Criteria and amount of the grant are relaxed recently: ＊ The upper limit of grant for 2011-2012 increases to HK$5,200. (Maximum 10 months, HK$520 each month, starting from September of each academic year). ＊ Area of rented flats extends to Shatin, Ma On Shan, Tai Po and North District Application Period: All year round The selection panel, chaired by the Dean of Students, will consider: (1) financial situation of applicants (2) academic performance of applicants The selection panel will also consider applications with special circumstances. 2011至2012年度陸運會已於2011年10月24日晚上舉行，書院六所舍堂合共有破紀錄五百九十多位同學參加比賽，各舍堂啦啦隊傾力為隊友打氣，氣氛熱烈。當日得院長馮國培教授、副院長兼輔導長王香生教授、副院長兼通識教育主任余濟美教授、副院長兼通識教育副主任張雙慶教授、資深書院導師陳燿武先生、盧德溪先生、黃宏發教授及黃潘明珠女士，以及各舍堂舍監及堂監等嘉賓親身到場打氣及頒獎。本屆陸運會的總成績詳見附件四。 |

45th Athletic Meet |

The 2011-2012 Athletic Meet was held on 24 October 2011, with a record-high of over 590 students representing six hostels and non-residential halls to participate in the competitions. The cheering teams created a joyful atmosphere for the competition and cheered on the athletes. Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head; Professor Stephen H S Wong, Associate College Head and Dean of Students; Professor Jimmy C M Yu, Associate College Head and Dean of General Education; Professor Chang Song-hing, Associate College Head and Associate Dean of General Education; Mr Chan Yiu-mo, Mr Lo Tak-kai, Professor Andrew W F Wong and Mrs Rita Wong, Senior College Tutors; and wardens of hostels and halls came to cheer on the athletes and present medals to winners. The results are listed in Attachment 4. |

Over 220 guests, alumni and students attending the dinner, including Mr Shum Choi-sang, Chairman of the United College Board of Trustees and donor of the Mentorship Programme; Dr Thomas H C Cheung, Permanent Emeritus President of the UC Alumni Association; Professor Fung Kwok-pui, Head of United College; Ms Lina H Y Yan and Professor Stephen H S Wong, Convenors of the Mentorship Programme Coordinating Committee. |

由校董兼香港童軍總會東九龍地域主席殷巧兒女士捐助成立的維德領導才培育計劃，資助書院與香港童軍總會合辦的通識科目GEUC2018【實踐領導才】。上學期課程已於11月3日正式完結，殷校董聯同書院院長和副院長假鄭棟材樓地庫思源文娛中心向導師及24位課程學員頒發證書和感謝狀；出席的書院代表包括院長馮國培教授、副院長兼輔導長王香生教授、副院長兼通識教育主任余濟美教授、院務主任李雷寶玲女士及助理院務主任陳文軒先生。此科目將於本學年下學期繼續開辦，有趣興的同學請留意書院通識教育課程網頁(www.cuhk.edu.hk/uc/ge) 的資料並於在指定日期於CUSIS作網上選課。 |

| WEDO Leadership Development Programme | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The WEDO Leadership Development Programme was established through the generous donation of Ms Lina H Y Yan, College Trustee and Chairperson of the Kowloon East Region, Scout Association of Hong Kong. The Programme supports the College’s General Education course, GEUC2018 “Leadership in Practice”, jointly organised by United College and the Scout Association of Hong Kong. The course of first semester completed on 3 November 2011, and a closing ceremony has been organised on that day at Si Yuan Amenities Centre of United College. Ms Lina H Y Yan, accompanied by the College Head and Associate College Heads, presented certificates to both instructors and 24 students of the course. College administrative staff attended the closing ceremony included Professor Fung Kwok-pui, College Head; Professor Stephen H S Wong, Associate College Head and Dean of Students; Professor Jimmy C M Yu, Associate College Head and Dean of General Education; Mrs Christina Li, College Secretary; and Mr Tony M H Chan, Assistant College Secretary. The briefing session of Dr Thomas Cheung Tutorial Scheme – Personalised Tutorial was held at the Si Yuan Amenities Centre on 9 November 2011. Professor Jimmy C M Yu, the Convener of the Working Group on Tutorial Scheme and Associate College Head and Dean of General Education, addressed the teaching staff for the background and arrangement of this newly launched scheme. The scheme is well-received by students and positive support is received from teaching staff. Staff and students are paired up to conduct personalised tutorial in their mutual interest area. |

The annual friendly debate match “Min Ben Cup”, organised by the College Cantonese Debate Team and the Debate Team of City University of Hong Kong, was held on 14 October 2011 at City University of Hong Kong. The motion was “The Hong Kong Government should enact the charity law”. The College Debate Team won, against the motion, the match by two to one. Our warmest congratulations to the team. |
